Transcript: It's Time to Ride a Bike
As a theme song plays, a little girl, JoJo walks along a street, holding hands with an elderly grey-haired woman, Gran Gran. A man walking a dog, waves before being pulled away by the dog. It starts to rain. JoJo and Gran Gran hold green umbrellas and wear raincoats. It is springtime and pink blossoms bloom on trees in a park. Butterflies fly into a sunny blue sky. JoJo does a cartwheel and rolls down a hill. Gran Gran rolls down after her. JoJo tosses autumn leaves in the air. A man builds a snowman on a sidewalk. Gran Gran and JoJo walk by in coats and scarves. It is warmer weather and JoJo takes Gran Gran’s hand. Gran Gran opens a front gate to JoJo’s home.

JoJo rings a blue bell on her bicycle.
(Ringing)
JoJo rides her bicycle. She says,WHEE! COME ON,
GRAN GRAN! COME ON, PANDA!
Gran Gran says, REMEMBER, ONLY TO THE LAMPPOST!
JoJo stops her bicycle and says, OKAY, GRAN GRAN.
Gran Gran carries JoJo’s Panda Stuffy in her bag and walks slowly behind JoJo.
(Giggling)
(Gran Gran chuckling)
JoJo rides again, then stops.
(JoJo sighing)
(Bell ringing)
An older child and an adult ride by on bicycles.
(JoJo gasping)
(Bell ringing)
JoJo watches them go.
(Sighing)
JoJo says, I WISH YOU HAD A BIKE, TOO, GRAN GRAN.
THEN WE COULD RIDE AROUND THE PARK TOGETHER.
Gran Gran says, OH. I HAVEN'T RIDDEN A BIKE IN A
LONG, LONG TIME, JOJO.
JoJo looks sad.
(JoJo sighing)
Gran Gran says, BUT... I DO HAVE MY OLD BIKE
SOMEWHERE AT HOME.
(JoJo gasping)
JoJo says, CAN WE GO HOME AND FIND IT, GRAN GRAN, PLEASE?
Gran Gran says, UM... IT'S A VERY OLD BIKE, JOJO.
JoJo asks, OH. DOES THAT MEAN YOU CAN'T RIDE
IT?
(Gran Gran chuckling)
Gran Gran says, NO. IT JUST MEANS WE MIGHT HAVE TO FIX IT FIRST.
JoJo raises her arms. She says, YAY!
(Gran Gran chuckling)
JoJo says, THEN WE CAN RIDE OUR BIKES TOGETHER.

One of the children, who has long dark hair, says, MY BIKE IS PINK, THE ONE AT HOME, AND THE ONE AT MY GRANDMA'S IS WHITE AND PURPLE!

The child with long dark hair says, YOU NEED A BELL,

"BING, BING!" AND THEY'LL MOVE.
A child with a long braid says, I'M GOING TO THE PARK.
The child in the yellow overalls says, I'M GOING TO THE BEACH.
The child with the braid says, OH, NO, I'M GOING TO THE BEACH.
A child with the sandy hair imitates a bell ringing.
Jared is outside his shop.
(Jared whistling)
Jared takes a bell down from above a door.
(Bell ringing)
JoJo rides up on her bicycle, with Gran Gran walking behind her.
JoJo says, JARED!
Jared says, HEY, JOJO! GRAN GRAN!
JoJo and Jared slap hands and bump fists.
Jared continues, NICE WHEELS, JOJO.
Jared asks, HAVE YOU BEEN FOR A BIKE RIDE?
JoJo says, YES, BUT NOW, WE'RE GOING BACK
HOME TO FIND GRAN GRAN'S OLD BIKE.
THEN WE CAN RIDE AROUND THE PARK TOGETHER.
Gran Gran says, WE NEED TO FIX IT FIRST, THOUGH.
I HAVEN'T TAKEN MUCH CARE OF IT.
Jared tosses a bell in the air. He says,THAT'S WHY I'M FIXING
MY OLD DOORBELL TODAY. I HAVEN'T TAKEN MUCH CARE OF IT,
EITHER. LOOK.
Jared shakes the bell.
(Clicking faintly)
Jared says, IT'S ALL OUT OF DINGS.
(Gran Gran and JoJo chuckling)
Jared whispers, I BETTER GET BACK TO WORK.
JoJo says, I HOPE YOU GET YOUR DINGS BACK, JARED.
(Gran Gran and Jared chuckling)
JoJo says, BYE!
Jared says, THANKS, JOJO. GOOD LUCK FIXING YOUR BIKE, GRAN GRAN.
Gran Gran says, THANKS, JARED.
(Jared whistling)
JoJo stands in a yard beside a shed.
(Rummaging sounds)
Gran Gran says, ALRIGHT. UH... OOH... AH.
A gnome statue is tossed out of the shed.
(JoJo giggling)
Gran Gran says, OOH... OH...
A ball rolls out of the shed.
(JoJo giggling)
A boot is tossed out.
Gran Gran says, AH, I'M SURE IT'S HERE SOMEWHERE!
AHA! HERE WE ARE.
Gran Gran wheels a bicycle out of the shed. The chain sags and the seat on the bicycle is crooked. The handles look rusty.
Gran Gran says, HMM... IT MIGHT NEED MORE FIXING THAN I THOUGHT, JOJO.
JoJo tries to ring a bell on the bicycle.
(Scraping faintly)
JoJo says, AND THERE ARE NO DINGS.
(Gran Gran laughing)
Gran Gran says,
WE'D BETTER GET TO WORK, THEN.
JoJo smiles.
(Upbeat theme music plays)
Gran Gran takes a box of cleaning supplies from under a sink and gives it to JoJo. They stand outside with the bicycle and Gran Gran sprays cleaner. JoJo uses a sponge on the bicycle. The bicycle frame is red under the dirt. Gran Gran raises the seat, but it falls back down. Gran Gran takes a wrench and fixes the seat while JoJo holds it up. The bicycle is upside down and JoJo spins the pedals. Gran Gran tightens the chain. JoJo spins the pedals again and they both smile. Gran Gran uses a screwdriver to tighten the bell. JoJo rings it.
(Bell ringing)
Gran Gran says, GREAT JOB, JOJO! WE FIXED MY OLD BIKE.
IT LOOKS GOOD AS NEW.
JoJo asks, CAN WE GO TO THE PARK NOW?
(Gran Gran laughing)
Gran Gran replies, OKAY.
JoJo jumps excitedly.
(JoJo squealing)
JoJo and Gran Gran stand on a sidewalk with their bicycles. Both wear helmets.
JoJo says, I CAN'T WAIT TO RIDE AROUND THE PARK TOGETHER, GRAN GRAN.
(Both laughing and ringing bells)
(JoJo gasping)
JoJo points and says, GRAN GRAN!
Gran Gran says, HUH?
JoJo says, YOUR WHEEL IS ALL SQUISHY!
The back tire of Gran Gran’s bicycle is flat.
Gran Gran says, OH.
A front door opens, and Cynthia comes out. She wears denim overalls and red shirt, and her grey hair is pulled back with a green headband.
Cynthia says, HELLO?
Gran Gran says, HELLO, CYNTHIA.
JoJo says, HI, CYNTHIA.
Cynthia says, OH! HELLO, JOJO. HELLO, GRAN GRAN.
I THOUGHT SOMEONE RANG MY DOORBELL.
JoJo says, IT WAS OUR BIKES.
(Bell ringing)
Cynthia says, OH, I HAVEN'T SEEN THAT BIKE IN A LONG TIME, GRAN GRAN.
(Cynthia laughing)
Gran Gran says, YES, IT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME.
JoJo says, AND NOW, IT'S GOT A SQUISHY WHEEL.
Gran Gran says, WE'LL HAVE TO GO BACK AND FIND A PUMP, JOJO.
Cynthia says, OH, HANG ON. I THINK I'VE GOT A BIKE PUMP.
(Rummaging)
Cynthia pulls out a bicycle pump.
She says, RIGHT HERE!
Gran Gran says, WONDERFUL!
JoJo says, YES!
Gran Gran says, THANKS, CYNTHIA.
Cynthia pumps up the bicycle tire.
(Hissing)
(Gran Gran happy sighing)
Gran Gran says, WE'RE FINALLY READY TO RIDE OUR BIKES, JOJO.
JoJo says, WHOO-HOO!
(Ringing)
Gran Gran waves and says, BYE, CYNTHIA!
JoJo says, BYE, CYNTHIA! BYE, PANDA!
JoJo walks her bicycle then stops.
(Gasping)
JoJo says, PANDA! GRAN GRAN, IF WE'RE BOTH RIDING OUR BIKES,
WHO WILL CARRY PANDA?
Gran Gran says, HMM... I THINK IT'S TIME FOR A GRAN GRAN PLAN.
Panda is in a blue rectangular bucket. The bucket is strapped to Gran Gran’s bicycle.
JoJo says,
YOUR VERY OWN SEAT, PANDA.
(Gran Gran chuckling)
Gran Gran and JoJo walk their bicycles along the sidewalk.
JoJo says, JARED!
Jared turns and says, HEY, JOJO, GRAN GRAN. YOU FOUND YOUR OLD BIKE, THEN?
Gran Gran says, YES. IT NEEDED A LOT OF FIXING.
JoJo says, DID YOU FIX YOUR BELL?
Jared nods and says, MM-HMM.
Jared pushes the door to his shop.
(Bell jangling)
Jared says, I SURE DID.
JoJo rings her bicycle bell.
(All laughing)
(Ringing)
JoJo and Gran Gran walk their bicycles into the park. JoJo rings her bell. She and Gran Gran ride.
JoJo says, WHEE!
Gran Gran says, WHOO-HOO!
Jojo stops her bicycle just past a lamp post.
Gran Gran says, GO ON, JOJO. NOW WE BOTH HAVE BIKES,
WE CAN RIDE AROUND THE PARK TOGETHER.
They ride past a playground. A boy with glasses waves from a slide.
(Bell ringing)
The boy with glasses says, HI, JOJO!
A dog chases a ball.
(Barking)
JoJo and Gran Gran ride across a bridge over a pond.
(Bell ringing)
Ducks take off from the pond.
(Duck quacking)
A bearded man gets a coffee at a café in the park.
(Bell ringing)
The bearded man almost drops his coffee. He smiles. JoJo and Gran Gran stop by a bandstand.
(JoJo laughing)
(Gran Gran laughing)
Two butterflies fly from the park into the sky.
A red-haired child in a green jacket runs in a yard. A man in a black t-shirt carries a bicycle.
The man in the black shirt says, ARE YOU READY TO HELP ME WITH THIS BIKE?
The child says, YES.
The man in the black shirt sets the bicycle down and says, COOL. LET'S JUST CHECK THE TIRE.
The child says, ME AND MY DAD ARE LOOKING AFTER OUR BIKES.
Dad says, WHAT'S THAT LIKE?
The child says, VERY FLAT.
Dad says, OKAY, I'LL PUT THIS ON, AND YOU DO THE PUMP.
The child stands by a bicycle pump and says, WE NEED TO MAKE SURE
THEY'RE WORKING PROPERLY.
(Hissing)
The child pumps the tire and says, WE'RE PUMPING UP THE TIRES TO MAKE MY BIKE EASIER TO RIDE.
The child says, OH, VERY SOLID.
Dad says, ALL GOOD? COME ON, THEN.
(Upbeat music)
Dad flips the bicycle around and the child kneels beside it.
The child says, NOW, WE PUT OIL ON THE CHAIN TO MAKE IT RUN SMOOTHLY.
A few drops of oil fall onto a bicycle chain.
Dad says, HOW ABOUT NOW?
The child says, A BIT MORE.
Dad spins the chain and says, A TINY BIT MORE. I RECKON THAT'S ENOUGH.
The child says, MORE.
Dad says, YOU DON'T WANT TOO MUCH.
More drops of oil are added to the chain.
Dad smiles and says, ANY MORE?
The child nods and says, THAT'S ENOUGH.
Dad says, OKAY. TAKE THE OIL OFF, THEN. GOOD. LET'S CHECK THE BRAKES.
The child squeezes the hand brakes and says, HMM.
Dad says, OH, DEAR. SO, THAT'S NO GOOD, IS IT?
The child says, THAT DOESN'T WORK.
Dad says, NO. OH, DEAR.
The child squeezes again, OH, NO.
Dad says, RIGHT. WE'RE GOING TO PUSH THE SILVER
ONE INTO THE GAP, AREN'T YOU? OKAY?
The child says, THINGS CAN STOP WORKING OVER TIME, SO WE NEED TO LOOK AFTER THEM.
The child pushes a wire into a slot.
Dad says, GOOD JOB. DONE.
The child says, DONE.
Dad says, WELL DONE.
Dad says, ARE YOU READY? GO AND TEST IT.
The child pushes the bicycle then squeezes the brakes.
Dad says, YES.
The child says, BRAKES ARE WORKING REALLY WELL.
Dad says, BRAKES ALL GOOD? LET'S GET YOUR HELMET ON AND GO FOR A RIDE. GO ON, THEN.
The child smiles and puts on a helmet.
The child says, DADDY MAKES SURE MY HELMET IS ON PROPERLY SO I'M SAFE TO RIDE.
Dad fastens the child’s helmet. They ride their bicycles on a driveway. They ride through a park with tall trees and bright green grass. The child smiles and pedals.
The child says, LOOKING AFTER OUR BIKES MEANS WE CAN USE THEM FOR LONGER AND RIDE THEM IN THE PARK TOGETHER.
Dad smiles and says,YOU DID IT. GO.
The child rides over grass.
(Child giggling)
Gran Gran and JoJo sit on a couch
(Both sighing)
JoJo says, I LOVE RIDING OUR BIKES TOGETHER, GRAN GRAN.
Gran Gran says, ME, TOO. AND I'LL KEEP TAKING CARE OF MY BIKE NOW,
SO IT WON'T NEED SO MUCH FIXING NEXT TIME.
JoJo says, I LOVE YOU, GRAN GRAN.
Gran Gran says, I LOVE YOU TOO, JOJO.
JoJo and Gran Gran hug.

A front door opens, and Cynthia comes out. She wears denim overalls and red shirt, and her grey hair is pulled back with a green headband.
Cynthia says, HELLO?
Gran Gran says, HELLO, CYNTHIA.
JoJo says, HI, CYNTHIA.
Cynthia says, OH! HELLO, JOJO. HELLO, GRAN GRAN.
I THOUGHT SOMEONE RANG MY DOORBELL.
JoJo says, IT WAS OUR BIKES.
(Bell ringing)
Cynthia says, OH, I HAVEN'T SEEN THAT BIKE IN A LONG TIME, GRAN GRAN.
(Cynthia laughing)
Gran Gran says, YES, IT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME.
JoJo says, AND NOW, IT'S GOT A SQUISHY WHEEL.
Gran Gran says, WE'LL HAVE TO GO BACK AND FIND A PUMP, JOJO.
Cynthia says, OH, HANG ON. I THINK I'VE GOT A BIKE PUMP.
(Rummaging)
Cynthia pulls out a bicycle pump.
She says, RIGHT HERE!
Gran Gran says, WONDERFUL!
JoJo says, YES!
Gran Gran says, THANKS, CYNTHIA.
Cynthia pumps up the bicycle tire.
(Hissing)
(Gran Gran happy sighing)
Gran Gran says, WE'RE FINALLY READY TO RIDE OUR BIKES, JOJO.
JoJo says, WHOO-HOO!
(Ringing)
Gran Gran waves and says, BYE, CYNTHIA!
JoJo says, BYE, CYNTHIA! BYE, PANDA!
JoJo walks her bicycle then stops.
(Gasping)
JoJo says, PANDA! GRAN GRAN, IF WE'RE BOTH RIDING OUR BIKES,
WHO WILL CARRY PANDA?
Gran Gran says, HMM... I THINK IT'S TIME FOR A GRAN GRAN PLAN.
Panda is in a blue rectangular bucket. The bucket is strapped to Gran Gran’s bicycle.
JoJo says,
YOUR VERY OWN SEAT, PANDA.
(Gran Gran chuckling)
Gran Gran and JoJo walk their bicycles along the sidewalk.
JoJo says, JARED!
Jared turns and says, HEY, JOJO, GRAN GRAN. YOU FOUND YOUR OLD BIKE, THEN?
Gran Gran says, YES. IT NEEDED A LOT OF FIXING.
JoJo says, DID YOU FIX YOUR BELL?
Jared nods and says, MM-HMM.
Jared pushes the door to his shop.
(Bell jangling)
Jared says, I SURE DID.
JoJo rings her bicycle bell.
(All laughing)
(Ringing)
JoJo and Gran Gran walk their bicycles into the park. JoJo rings her bell. She and Gran Gran ride.
JoJo says, WHEE!
Gran Gran says, WHOO-HOO!
Jojo stops her bicycle just past a lamp post.
Gran Gran says, GO ON, JOJO. NOW WE BOTH HAVE BIKES,
WE CAN RIDE AROUND THE PARK TOGETHER.
They ride past a playground. A boy with glasses waves from a slide.
(Bell ringing)
The boy with glasses says, HI, JOJO!
A dog chases a ball.
(Barking)
JoJo and Gran Gran ride across a bridge over a pond.
(Bell ringing)
Ducks take off from the pond.
(Duck quacking)
A bearded man gets a coffee at a café in the park.
(Bell ringing)
The bearded man almost drops his coffee. He smiles. JoJo and Gran Gran stop by a bandstand.
(JoJo laughing)
(Gran Gran laughing)
Two butterflies fly from the park into the sky.
A red-haired child in a green jacket runs in a yard. A man in a black t-shirt carries a bicycle.
The man in the black shirt says, ARE YOU READY TO HELP ME WITH THIS BIKE?
The child says, YES.
The man in the black shirt sets the bicycle down and says, COOL. LET'S JUST CHECK THE TIRE.
The child says, ME AND MY DAD ARE LOOKING AFTER OUR BIKES.
Dad says, WHAT'S THAT LIKE?
The child says, VERY FLAT.
Dad says, OKAY, I'LL PUT THIS ON, AND YOU DO THE PUMP.
The child stands by a bicycle pump and says, WE NEED TO MAKE SURE
THEY'RE WORKING PROPERLY.
(Hissing)
The child pumps the tire and says, WE'RE PUMPING UP THE TIRES TO MAKE MY BIKE EASIER TO RIDE.
The child says, OH, VERY SOLID.
Dad says, ALL GOOD? COME ON, THEN.
(Upbeat music)
Dad flips the bicycle around and the child kneels beside it.
The child says, NOW, WE PUT OIL ON THE CHAIN TO MAKE IT RUN SMOOTHLY.
A few drops of oil fall onto a bicycle chain.
Dad says, HOW ABOUT NOW?
The child says, A BIT MORE.
Dad spins the chain and says, A TINY BIT MORE. I RECKON THAT'S ENOUGH.
The child says, MORE.
Dad says, YOU DON'T WANT TOO MUCH.
More drops of oil are added to the chain.
Dad smiles and says, ANY MORE?
The child nods and says, THAT'S ENOUGH.
Dad says, OKAY. TAKE THE OIL OFF, THEN. GOOD. LET'S CHECK THE BRAKES.
The child squeezes the hand brakes and says, HMM.
Dad says, OH, DEAR. SO, THAT'S NO GOOD, IS IT?
The child says, THAT DOESN'T WORK.
Dad says, NO. OH, DEAR.
The child squeezes again, OH, NO.
Dad says, RIGHT. WE'RE GOING TO PUSH THE SILVER
ONE INTO THE GAP, AREN'T YOU? OKAY?
The child says, THINGS CAN STOP WORKING OVER TIME, SO WE NEED TO LOOK AFTER THEM.
The child pushes a wire into a slot.
Dad says, GOOD JOB. DONE.
The child says, DONE.
Dad says, WELL DONE.
Dad says, ARE YOU READY? GO AND TEST IT.
The child pushes the bicycle then squeezes the brakes.
Dad says, YES.
The child says, BRAKES ARE WORKING REALLY WELL.
Dad says, BRAKES ALL GOOD? LET'S GET YOUR HELMET ON AND GO FOR A RIDE. GO ON, THEN.
The child smiles and puts on a helmet.
The child says, DADDY MAKES SURE MY HELMET IS ON PROPERLY SO I'M SAFE TO RIDE.
Dad fastens the child’s helmet. They ride their bicycles on a driveway. They ride through a park with tall trees and bright green grass. The child smiles and pedals.
The child says, LOOKING AFTER OUR BIKES MEANS WE CAN USE THEM FOR LONGER AND RIDE THEM IN THE PARK TOGETHER.
Dad smiles and says,YOU DID IT. GO.
The child rides over grass.
(Child giggling)
Gran Gran and JoJo sit on a couch
(Both sighing)
JoJo says, I LOVE RIDING OUR BIKES TOGETHER, GRAN GRAN.
Gran Gran says, ME, TOO. AND I'LL KEEP TAKING CARE OF MY BIKE NOW,
SO IT WON'T NEED SO MUCH FIXING NEXT TIME.
JoJo says, I LOVE YOU, GRAN GRAN.
Gran Gran says, I LOVE YOU TOO, JOJO.
JoJo and Gran Gran hug.
(Theme music plays)
As the end credits roll, JoJo and Gran Gran walk through town and play in the park as the seasons change.
