Transcript: It's Time for Autumn Leaves
As a theme song plays, a little girl, JoJo, walks along a street, holding hands with an elderly grey-haired woman, Gran Gran. A man walking a dog, waves before being pulled away by the dog. It starts to rain. JoJo and Gran Gran hold green umbrellas and wear raincoats. It is springtime and pink blossoms bloom on trees in a park. Butterflies fly in a sunny blue sky. JoJo does a cartwheel and rolls down a hill. Gran Gran rolls down after her. JoJo tosses autumn leaves in the air. A man builds a snowman on a sidewalk. Gran Gran and JoJo walk by in coats and scarves. It is warmer weather and JoJo takes Gran Gran’s hand. Gran Gran opens a front gate to JoJo’s home.

JoJo says, LOOK, GRAN GRAN! WE HAVEN'T STARTED THIS PAGE YET.
Gran Gran says, OH, YES. WE'RE ON THE AUTUMN PAGE NOW. WE HAVE TO FIND DIFFERENT COLOURED LEAVES AND STICK THEM IN.
Gran Gran points to the page and says, HERE.
JoJo says, ORANGE, RED, YELLOW, AND—
(Gasping)
JoJo says, GREEN. THAT'S LOTS OF COLOURS.
Gran Gran says, THIS IS THE PERFECT TIME OF YEAR TO START THE AUTUMN PAGE. LEAVES START TO FALL FROM THE TREES AND CHANGE COLOUR. WHERE DO YOU THINK WE CAN FIND LOTS OF LEAVES?
JoJo looks out a window.
(GASPING)
JoJo says, THE PARK!
A child in denim overalls says, SOMETIMES WHEN I WALK TO SCHOOL, I SEE LOADS OF LEAVES AND, UM, I-- I PUT THEM IN MY POCKET.
A child in a red hoodie says, THEY FALL DOWN AND THEY TURN BROWN, YELLOW, OR ORANGE OR RED.
A child with blonde hair says, THEY JUST GLIDE OFF THE TREE.
A brown-haired child and a child in an orange shirt make falling motions with their hands.
(Both children make whooshing noises)
A child with braids says, SOMETIMES WHEN I'M PLAYING HIDE AND SEEK OR THIS GAME, I HAVE TO BE QUIET. I WALK THROUGH LEAVES AND IT'S VERY ANNOYING. I GET SPOTTED STRAIGHT AWAY
BECAUSE OF THE NOISE.
The child in the orange shirt makes leaf rustling noises, PSSH, PSSH, PSSH!
A child with blonde pigtails makes rustling noises, PSSH, PSSH, PSSH.
A child in a blue shirt says, IT'S NOT JUST AUTUMN LEAVES THAT CHANGE. IT'S ALSO WE HAVE TO CHANGE BECAUSE WHEN IT'S COLD WE HAVE TO WEAR JUMPERS.
A child in a striped shirt points to her head, neck, hands, and says, HAT, SCARF, GLOVES, WELLIES, AND COAT.
JoJo and Gran Gran wear jackets and rubber boots as they walk on a sidewalk.
JoJo says, ALL THESE LEAVES LOOK ORANGE, GRAN GRAN.
Gran Gran says, AH, FROM A DISTANCE THEY DO, JOJO. BUT LOOK CLOSELY.
JoJo stares upwards.
JoJo says, WHOA! ORANGE, RED, YELLOW--
Gran Gran says, AND GREEN! OH, THAT'S WHY AUTUMN IS MY FAVOURITE TIME OF YEAR. I LOVE HOW COLOURFUL THE TREES LOOK.
JoJo looks at her notebook and says, WE NEED AN ORANGE LEAF FIRST. HOW CAN WE COLLECT THE ORANGE LEAF ALL THE WAY UP THERE, GRAN GRAN? IT'S TOO HIGH!
Gran Gran says, WE CAN'T COLLECT LEAVES THAT HAVEN'T FALLEN FROM THE TREES YET, JOJO.
JoJo holds up the book and says, THEN HOW WILL WE COLLECT ANY LEAVES FOR OUR NATURE TICK BOOK?
(Rustling, humming nearby)
JoJo looks around and says, HUH? JARED!
(Drum music playing)
Jared is pushing leaves into a pile with a broom. He waves and says, OH, HEY, JOJO! GRAN GRAN!
JoJo and Jared slap hands and bump fists.
Jared says, I WISH THESE TREES WOULD STOP DROPPING THEIR LEAVES EVERYWHERE. AS SOON AS I SWEEP THEM UP, MORE FALL.
An orange leaf lands on Jared’s head. HUH?
(JoJo giggling)
Jared pulls the leaf from his hair and smiles.
JoJo says, WE'RE GOING TO COLLECT LEAVES IN ALL DIFFERENT COLOURS TO FINISH OUR NATURE TICK BOOK.
Gran Gran says, BUT WE CAN'T COLLECT LEAVES THAT HAVEN'T FALLEN FROM THE TREES YET.
Jared says, BUT YOU CAN COLLECT LEAVES THAT HAVE FALLEN, RIGHT?
Gran Gran nods and says, MM-HM.
Jared holds out the leaf and says, HOW ABOUT...THIS LEAF?
JoJo reaches for Jared’s leaf.
(JoJo gasping)
JoJo says, AN ORANGE LEAF!
JoJo hands the leaf to Gran Gran.
JoJo looks at her book and says, IT LOOKS JUST LIKE THE ORANGE LEAF IN MY NATURE TICK BOOK. THANKS, JARED!
JoJo makes a green checkmark.
Gran Gran says, COME ON, JOJO. LET'S GET TO THE PARK. WE HAVE LOTS OF OTHER COLOURFUL LEAVES TO FIND.
JoJo says, BYE, JARED!
Gran Gran says, SEE YOU LATER, JARED!
Jared says, BYE!
JoJo and Gran Gran walk away. Jared sweeps leaves outside his store. A red double-decker bus passes by and Jared’s pile of leaves scatter.
(Bell dinging)
(Leaves rustling)
Jared stares at the leaves and says, OOF.
(Music playing)
JoJo and Gran Gran walk into the park. JoJo kicks leaves along a path. Gran Gran picks up a handful of leaves and tosses them up into the air.
Gran Gran says, WOO!
(JoJo laughing)
JoJo watches the leaves flutter.
(JoJo gasping)
JoJo points and says, GRAN GRAN, LOOK! A RED LEAF.
(Wind whooshing)
JoJo chases the red leaf.
JoJo says, WHOOP!
JoJo follows the fluttering leaf over a bridge and over a pond where two ducks swim. Gran Gran follows JoJo.
(Quacking)
The leaf blows toward an outdoor café. A bearded man sits with a cup of coffee. The leaf blows onto his cup just as he raises it to his mouth. The leaf blows away and the bearded man watches JoJo and Gran Gran hurry past him.
(Wind whooshing)
Cynthia sits on a park bench, putting on a green glove. She stares at the red leaf as it blows past her. JoJo runs by.
Gran Gran waves and says, HELLO, CYNTHIA.
Cynthia says, HI!
The leaf swirls and blows against a fence. JoJo runs up and grabs the leaf.
JoJo jumps and says, YAY!
Gran Gran walks up and says, YES, WELL DONE, JOJO!
Gran Gran puts the leaf in JoJo’s backpack.
(JoJo giggling)
JoJo says, THANKS, GRAN GRAN.
JoJo makes a checkmark next to a picture of a red leaf in her book.
JoJo says, NOW WE NEED A YELLOW LEAF AND A GREEN LEAF.
JoJo and Gran Gran are by a playground.
JoJo says, GRAN GRAN, CAN YOU PUSH ME UP HIGH ON THE SWINGS, PLEASE? MAYBE WE CAN SEE A YELLOW LEAF FROM UP THERE.
JoJo is on a swing. She says, WHEE!
(JoJo laughing)
Gran Gran pushes JoJo on the swing and says, WHAT CAN YOU SEE, JOJO?
JoJo swings up high and looks past her feet to three trees. She says, ORANGE! RED!
(JoJo gasping)
JoJo swings back and forth and says, YELLOW!
JoJo runs to a pile of leaves under a tree. She holds up a yellow leaf and says,
GOT IT.
JoJo gives the leaf to Gran Gran. JoJo makes a checkmark in her book.
She says, ONE YELLOW LEAF! NOW WE JUST NEED A GREEN LEAF.
JoJo and Gran Gran look around.
(Bike bell dinging)
JoJo rubs her head and says, NO GREEN LEAVES HERE.
Gran Gran stands in a bandstand and spreads her arms.
JoJo says, OR HERE.
The bearded man looks up from his coffee. JoJo and Gran Gran look at leaves around the café. JoJo shrugs. JoJo runs past a lamp post and stops.
(JoJo gasping)
JoJo points to a leaf and says, THERE- I FOUND ONE! A GREEN LEAF!
JoJo picks up a glove.
(JoJo giggling)
JoJo says, THIS ISN'T A GREEN LEAF. THIS IS A GREEN GLOVE!
Cynthia says, THERE IT IS!
Cynthia walks over.
JoJo says, CYNTHIA!
Cynthia wears one green glove. She says, HELLO, JOJO. HI, GRAN GRAN. THAT'S MY GLOVE.
Cynthia takes the glove from JoJo and says, I MUST HAVE DROPPED IT EARLIER.
JoJo asks, HAVE YOU SEEN ANY GREEN LEAVES, CYNTHIA?
JoJo holds up her book and says, I NEED ONE TO FINISH OUR NATURE TICK BOOK.
Cynthia points up and says, HMM, WELL, I CAN SEE SOME IN THE TREES, BUT I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY YOU COULD COLLECT.
JoJo looks worried. She says, BUT IF THERE AREN'T ANY GREEN LEAVES ON THE GROUND, HOW CAN WE FINISH OUR NATURE TICK BOOK?
Gran Gran says, HMM. I THINK IT'S TIME FOR A GRAN GRAN PLAN!
Gran Gran and JoJo sit at the outdoor café. Panda is on the table.
Gran Gran says, WE DON'T NEED TO COLLECT A GREEN LEAF TO FINISH YOUR NATURE TICK BOOK, JOJO. WE CAN DO A LEAF RUBBING INSTEAD.
JoJo says, OOH.
Gran Gran puts a blank piece of paper on the table.
She says, PUT YOUR LEAF UNDER THIS PAPER.
JoJo slides a leaf under the paper.
Gran Gran says, PERFECT! NOW, TURN THE CRAYON ON ITS SIDE AND GENTLY RUB IT ACROSS THE PAGE.
JoJo rubs the green crayon across the paper. The outline of a leaf appears.
JoJo says, I CAN SEE A LEAF!
JoJo hands the paper to Gran Gran. Gran Gran cuts the leaf shape out with scissors and gives it to JoJo. JoJo makes a checkmark in her book.
JoJo says, FINISHED.
JoJo smiles and spreads her arms wide.
She says, I LOVE IT! THANK YOU, GRAN GRAN.
Two girls walk in a park. One girl wears a red raincoat and the other a blue raincoat. A woman follows them, carrying a basket.
The girl in the red says, TODAY WE'RE EXPLORING THE PARK.
A person rides by on a bicycle.
(Bell dinging)
The girl in the blue coat says, IT'S AUTUMN! AND LOTS OF LEAVES HAVE FALLEN OFF THE TREES.
They kick leaves as they walk.
(Leaves rustling)
The children run to a big tree. They throw leaves in the air and spin around as the leaves fall.
The girl in the red coat says, WE'RE COLLECTING LEAVES. AUTUMN IS THE BEST TIME TO COLLECT LEAVES, AS THEY'VE FALLEN FROM THE TREES.
The girl in the blue coat says, THIS ONE'S REALLY BIG!
The girl in red coat says, SOME LEAVES CHANGE FROM GREEN TO ORANGE. SOME CHANGE TO BROWN, AND SOME CHANGE TO RED.
The girl in the red coat says, THESE LEAVES ARE REALLY RED.
The girl in the blue coat says, DIFFERENT TREES HAVE DIFFERENT COLOURED LEAVES.
Leaves are collected in the basket.
The woman says, SHOULD WE GO AND MAKE SOMETHING WITH THESE LEAVES?
Both children reply, YES!
The girl in blue says, WE FOUND LOTS!
The girl in the red coat says, WE'RE GOING TO MAKE PICTURES OUT OF OUR LEAVES.
The woman sorts through the leaves in the basket.
The girl in the blue coat says, AUTUMN LEAVES COME IN LOTS OF DIFFERENT SHAPES, TOO.
The girl in the red coat glues leaves to a blue sheet of paper. The girl in the blue coat glues leaves to a strip of yellow paper. The girl in the red coat takes a leaf from the basket. The girl in the blue coat uses a glue stick on a leaf.
The girl in the red coat points to leaves on the blue paper and says, I MADE A GREEN, YELLOW, RED, AND BROWN RAINBOW.
The woman says, WOW, THAT'S AMAZING.
The girl in the blue coat puts on a crown made from the yellow strip of paper and the leaves. The girl in blue says, I'VE MADE RAINBOW LEAF CROWNS FOR US TO WEAR.
The girl in the blue coat asks, DO YOU LIKE THE CROWN I MADE FOR YOU?
The girl in the red coat replies, YES.
The woman says, SHOULD WE GET GOING?
Both children reply, YES.
The girl in the red coat says, WE LOVED SEEING ALL THE BEAUTIFUL AUTUMN LEAVES.
The children skip through the fallen leaves. Gran Gran and JoJo sit on the couch with Panda. JoJo looks at her notebook.
JoJo says, GRAN GRAN, I LIKE THAT LEAVES CHANGE COLOUR IN AUTUMN.
(Gran Gran chuckling)
Gran Gran says, WELL, MOST OF THEM.
JoJo hugs Gran Gran and says, I LOVE YOU, GRAN GRAN.
Gran Gran says, I LOVE YOU TOO, JOJO.

As the end credits roll, JoJo and Gran Gran walk through town and play in the park as the seasons change.

JoJo says, THIS ISN'T A GREEN LEAF. THIS IS A GREEN GLOVE!
Cynthia says, THERE IT IS!
Cynthia walks over.
JoJo says, CYNTHIA!
Cynthia wears one green glove. She says, HELLO, JOJO. HI, GRAN GRAN. THAT'S MY GLOVE.
Cynthia takes the glove from JoJo and says, I MUST HAVE DROPPED IT EARLIER.
JoJo asks, HAVE YOU SEEN ANY GREEN LEAVES, CYNTHIA?
JoJo holds up her book and says, I NEED ONE TO FINISH OUR NATURE TICK BOOK.
Cynthia points up and says, HMM, WELL, I CAN SEE SOME IN THE TREES, BUT I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY YOU COULD COLLECT.
JoJo looks worried. She says, BUT IF THERE AREN'T ANY GREEN LEAVES ON THE GROUND, HOW CAN WE FINISH OUR NATURE TICK BOOK?
Gran Gran says, HMM. I THINK IT'S TIME FOR A GRAN GRAN PLAN!
Gran Gran and JoJo sit at the outdoor café. Panda is on the table.
Gran Gran says, WE DON'T NEED TO COLLECT A GREEN LEAF TO FINISH YOUR NATURE TICK BOOK, JOJO. WE CAN DO A LEAF RUBBING INSTEAD.
JoJo says, OOH.
Gran Gran puts a blank piece of paper on the table.
She says, PUT YOUR LEAF UNDER THIS PAPER.
JoJo slides a leaf under the paper.
Gran Gran says, PERFECT! NOW, TURN THE CRAYON ON ITS SIDE AND GENTLY RUB IT ACROSS THE PAGE.
JoJo rubs the green crayon across the paper. The outline of a leaf appears.
JoJo says, I CAN SEE A LEAF!
JoJo hands the paper to Gran Gran. Gran Gran cuts the leaf shape out with scissors and gives it to JoJo. JoJo makes a checkmark in her book.
JoJo says, FINISHED.
JoJo smiles and spreads her arms wide.
She says, I LOVE IT! THANK YOU, GRAN GRAN.
Two girls walk in a park. One girl wears a red raincoat and the other a blue raincoat. A woman follows them, carrying a basket.
The girl in the red says, TODAY WE'RE EXPLORING THE PARK.
A person rides by on a bicycle.
(Bell dinging)
The girl in the blue coat says, IT'S AUTUMN! AND LOTS OF LEAVES HAVE FALLEN OFF THE TREES.
They kick leaves as they walk.
(Leaves rustling)
The children run to a big tree. They throw leaves in the air and spin around as the leaves fall.
The girl in the red coat says, WE'RE COLLECTING LEAVES. AUTUMN IS THE BEST TIME TO COLLECT LEAVES, AS THEY'VE FALLEN FROM THE TREES.
The girl in the blue coat says, THIS ONE'S REALLY BIG!
The girl in red coat says, SOME LEAVES CHANGE FROM GREEN TO ORANGE. SOME CHANGE TO BROWN, AND SOME CHANGE TO RED.
The girl in the red coat says, THESE LEAVES ARE REALLY RED.
The girl in the blue coat says, DIFFERENT TREES HAVE DIFFERENT COLOURED LEAVES.
Leaves are collected in the basket.
The woman says, SHOULD WE GO AND MAKE SOMETHING WITH THESE LEAVES?
Both children reply, YES!
The girl in blue says, WE FOUND LOTS!
The girl in the red coat says, WE'RE GOING TO MAKE PICTURES OUT OF OUR LEAVES.
The woman sorts through the leaves in the basket.
The girl in the blue coat says, AUTUMN LEAVES COME IN LOTS OF DIFFERENT SHAPES, TOO.
The girl in the red coat glues leaves to a blue sheet of paper. The girl in the blue coat glues leaves to a strip of yellow paper. The girl in the red coat takes a leaf from the basket. The girl in the blue coat uses a glue stick on a leaf.
The girl in the red coat points to leaves on the blue paper and says, I MADE A GREEN, YELLOW, RED, AND BROWN RAINBOW.
The woman says, WOW, THAT'S AMAZING.
The girl in the blue coat puts on a crown made from the yellow strip of paper and the leaves. The girl in blue says, I'VE MADE RAINBOW LEAF CROWNS FOR US TO WEAR.
The girl in the blue coat asks, DO YOU LIKE THE CROWN I MADE FOR YOU?
The girl in the red coat replies, YES.
The woman says, SHOULD WE GET GOING?
Both children reply, YES.
The girl in the red coat says, WE LOVED SEEING ALL THE BEAUTIFUL AUTUMN LEAVES.
The children skip through the fallen leaves. Gran Gran and JoJo sit on the couch with Panda. JoJo looks at her notebook.
JoJo says, GRAN GRAN, I LIKE THAT LEAVES CHANGE COLOUR IN AUTUMN.
(Gran Gran chuckling)
Gran Gran says, WELL, MOST OF THEM.
JoJo hugs Gran Gran and says, I LOVE YOU, GRAN GRAN.
Gran Gran says, I LOVE YOU TOO, JOJO.
(Theme music plays)
As the end credits roll, JoJo and Gran Gran walk through town and play in the park as the seasons change.
