JoJo asks, ALL OF THEM?
Gran Gran says, ALL OF THEM.
JoJo asks, BUT WHY, GRAN GRAN?
Gran Gran says, WELL, SWALLOWS NEED TO GO TO A WARMER COUNTRY FOR A BIT. IT'S TOO COLD FOR THEM HERE. IT'S CALLED MIGRATION.
JoJo says, OH. MIGRATION.
(Music playing)
JoJo looks out a window. She holds her notebook.
JoJo asks, WILL THE SWALLOWS COME BACK SOON?
Gran Gran says, WELL, THEY SHOULD BE BACK IN A FEW MONTHS, IN THE SPRING, WHEN IT'S A BIT WARMER.
Gran Gran sits on a couch in the living room. She points to a picture on a wall. It shows palm trees and a beach.
(Gasping)
JoJo says, SO THE SWALLOWS ARE ON HOLIDAY!
(Both laughing)
Gran Gran says, WELL, THE SWALLOWS LIVE IN BOTH PLACES. MAYBE THEY'RE ON HOLIDAY WHEN THEY COME HERE!
JoJo says, I HAVE AN IDEA. COME ON, PANDA!
JoJo grabs her stuffed panda.
JoJo sits at a kitchen table with coloured pencils and a piece of paper.
Gran Gran asks, OOH, WHAT ARE YOU MAKING, JOJO?
JoJo says, IT'S A SURPRISE, GRAN GRAN. BUT I THINK YOU'LL LIKE IT.

JoJo colours the paper blue. She uses a sponge to paint a yellow sun. JoJo uses a glue stick to put cotton balls on the paper as clouds.
JoJo says, HMM. FINISHED. GRAN GRAN, CAN WE GO INTO THE GARDEN, PLEASE? IT'S FOR THE SURPRISE.
Gran Gran says, OH. OKAY, JOJO.
(Laughing)

JoJo says, THE SKY IS BLUE, TOO, BECAUSE IT'S NICE AND SUNNY. THE BEST HOLIDAY EVER.
Gran Gran says, AH, IT CERTAINLY LOOKS LIKE A GOOD PLACE TO BE ON HOLIDAY, JOJO.
JoJo says, SO NOW, THE SWALLOWS DON'T NEED TO GO AWAY FOR WINTER. THEY CAN HAVE A HOLIDAY HERE.
Gran Gran says, OH, JOJO, THIS IS REALLY VERY BEAUTIFUL. BUT THE SWALLOWS WILL STILL FIND IT TOO CHILLY OUT HERE.
JoJo says, HMM. I KNOW!

JoJo says, BUT THAT'S AGES AWAY.
JoJo says, HMM.
(Birds chirping)
Gran Gran looks out a window at the bird feeder
Gran Gran says, JOJO, I THINK IT'S TIME FOR A GRAN GRAN PLAN.
(Music playing)
Gran Gran fills up a bird feeder.
Gran Gran says, YOU'LL NEED YOUR NATURE TICK BOOK, JOJO. NOW, YOU WAIT HERE WHILE I CARRY THIS BIRD FOOD OUTSIDE.
(Door opening)
JoJo looks out the window. Gran Gran hangs the smaller bird feeder on the larger one.
(Door closing)
Gran Gran walks back into the kitchen.
Gran Gran whispers, WE ALL NEED TO BE VERY QUIET AND VERY STILL, OKAY?
JoJo whispers, OKAY.
Gran Gran whispers LOOK THERE, JOJO.
(Chirping)
A blackbird lands on the feeder.
(Gasping)
More birds fly to the feeders.
JoJo says, WHOA! THERE ARE SO MANY BIRDS, GRAN GRAN! AND THERE'S MY FAVOURITE! ROBIN!
(Chirping)
Gran Gran says, SWALLOWS FLY TO WARMER COUNTRIES IN THE WINTER. BUT LOTS OF BIRDS STAY HERE ALL YEAR ROUND. SO UNTIL THE SWALLOWS COME BACK IN THE SPRING, WE CAN SPOT LOTS OF DIFFERENT BIRDS IN THE GARDEN.
JoJo marks of birds in her notebook.
(Birds calling)
Live-action ducks and seagulls float on water.
A child narrates, TODAY WE'RE GOING BIRD-SPOTTING.
Two children in coats walk through a gate.
The children say, HELLO. HI!
The child narrates, THIS IS OUR FRIEND NICK.
Nick wears a blue jacket.
Nick asks, HAVE YOU COME TO DO A BIT OF BIRD SPOTTING?
A blonde-haired child says, YES.
Nick says, OKAY, WELL, HERE'S YOUR LISTS FOR THE DAY.
Nick has papers with pictures of birds on them. There are empty boxes next to the birds.
A black-haired child says, WE'RE GOING TO TRY AND SPOT BIRDS.
The blonde-haired child says, YEAH, AND WE'VE GOT BINOCULARS, TOO.
Nick says, EXCELLENT.
(Chirping)
Nick asks, CAN YOU MATCH THAT PICTURE TO THE BIRDS OUT THERE? CAN YOU SEE IT?
The blonde-haired child says, YEAH.
Nick says, GOT THE RED BEAKS. DO YOU WANT TO HAVE A LOOK?
The blonde-haired child looks through binoculars at a duck.
The blonde-haired child says, THERE'S BROWN ON THE BACK AS WELL.
The black-haired child narrates, THAT DUCK HAS A RED BEAK AND WHITE, BROWN, AND BLACK FEATHERS. THAT BIRD IS CALLED A SHELL DUCK.
The blonde-haired child narrates, I'M GOING TO SPOT THE NEXT BIRD WITH NICK.

The blonde-haired child says, THAT IS A LONG WAY TO FLY. THAT ONE AT THE VERY END THERE HAS A DIFFERENT COLOURED BEAK. IT'S ORANGE.
Nick says, YES, THAT'S A MUTE SWAN YOU'RE LOOKING AT. AND IT HAS THAT REDDY-ORANGE BEAK, AND THAT LIVES HERE YEAR-ROUND. IT DOESN'T MIGRATE, WHEREAS THE OTHER ONE WITH THE YELLOW BEAK, THAT'S THE ONE THAT MIGRATES ALL THE WAY FROM ICELAND TO HERE.
The blonde-haired child narrates, AT DIFFERENT TIMES OF THE YEAR, MIGRATING BIRDS FLY TO DIFFERENT COUNTRIES TO FIND FOOD.
Nick says, I THINK YOU CAN TICK IT OFF THE LIST.

JoJo says, BUT THAT'S AGES AWAY.
JoJo says, HMM.
(Birds chirping)
Gran Gran looks out a window at the bird feeder
Gran Gran says, JOJO, I THINK IT'S TIME FOR A GRAN GRAN PLAN.
(Music playing)
Gran Gran fills up a bird feeder.
Gran Gran says, YOU'LL NEED YOUR NATURE TICK BOOK, JOJO. NOW, YOU WAIT HERE WHILE I CARRY THIS BIRD FOOD OUTSIDE.
(Door opening)
JoJo looks out the window. Gran Gran hangs the smaller bird feeder on the larger one.
(Door closing)
Gran Gran walks back into the kitchen.
Gran Gran whispers, WE ALL NEED TO BE VERY QUIET AND VERY STILL, OKAY?
JoJo whispers, OKAY.
Gran Gran whispers LOOK THERE, JOJO.
(Chirping)
A blackbird lands on the feeder.
(Gasping)
More birds fly to the feeders.
JoJo says, WHOA! THERE ARE SO MANY BIRDS, GRAN GRAN! AND THERE'S MY FAVOURITE! ROBIN!
(Chirping)
Gran Gran says, SWALLOWS FLY TO WARMER COUNTRIES IN THE WINTER. BUT LOTS OF BIRDS STAY HERE ALL YEAR ROUND. SO UNTIL THE SWALLOWS COME BACK IN THE SPRING, WE CAN SPOT LOTS OF DIFFERENT BIRDS IN THE GARDEN.
JoJo marks of birds in her notebook.
(Birds calling)
Live-action ducks and seagulls float on water.
A child narrates, TODAY WE'RE GOING BIRD-SPOTTING.
Two children in coats walk through a gate.
The children say, HELLO. HI!
The child narrates, THIS IS OUR FRIEND NICK.
Nick wears a blue jacket.
Nick asks, HAVE YOU COME TO DO A BIT OF BIRD SPOTTING?
A blonde-haired child says, YES.
Nick says, OKAY, WELL, HERE'S YOUR LISTS FOR THE DAY.
Nick has papers with pictures of birds on them. There are empty boxes next to the birds.
A black-haired child says, WE'RE GOING TO TRY AND SPOT BIRDS.
The blonde-haired child says, YEAH, AND WE'VE GOT BINOCULARS, TOO.
Nick says, EXCELLENT.
(Chirping)
Nick asks, CAN YOU MATCH THAT PICTURE TO THE BIRDS OUT THERE? CAN YOU SEE IT?
The blonde-haired child says, YEAH.
Nick says, GOT THE RED BEAKS. DO YOU WANT TO HAVE A LOOK?
The blonde-haired child looks through binoculars at a duck.
The blonde-haired child says, THERE'S BROWN ON THE BACK AS WELL.
The black-haired child narrates, THAT DUCK HAS A RED BEAK AND WHITE, BROWN, AND BLACK FEATHERS. THAT BIRD IS CALLED A SHELL DUCK.
The blonde-haired child narrates, I'M GOING TO SPOT THE NEXT BIRD WITH NICK.
Ducks nestle together on a shore.
(Quacking)
Nick and the blonde-haired child walk inside a building and go to a window.
The blonde-haired child says, WOW. LOOK AT ALL THOSE BIRDS.
Nick says, I KNOW, AND WE NEED TO FIND A COOT. SO, WE'RE LOOKING FOR A BLACK BIRD WITH A WHITE PIECE ON THE TOP OF ITS HEAD.
The blonde-haired child looks through binoculars at a black water bird with a white beak.
The blonde-haired child says, I CAN SEE A COOT.
Nick says, SHALL WE TICK THAT OFF THE LIST, THEN?
The blonde-haired child says, YEAH. IT HAS A BLACK BODY WITH A WHITE BEAK.
(Quacking)
Two large swans swim among ducks.
The black-haired child says, LOOK, IT'S A SWAN.
Nick says, IT'S A HOOPER SWAN. AND IT COMES ALL THE WAY FROM ICELAND IN THE WINTER TO FIND FOOD.
The blonde-haired child says, THAT IS A LONG WAY TO FLY. THAT ONE AT THE VERY END THERE HAS A DIFFERENT COLOURED BEAK. IT'S ORANGE.
Nick says, YES, THAT'S A MUTE SWAN YOU'RE LOOKING AT. AND IT HAS THAT REDDY-ORANGE BEAK, AND THAT LIVES HERE YEAR-ROUND. IT DOESN'T MIGRATE, WHEREAS THE OTHER ONE WITH THE YELLOW BEAK, THAT'S THE ONE THAT MIGRATES ALL THE WAY FROM ICELAND TO HERE.
The blonde-haired child narrates, AT DIFFERENT TIMES OF THE YEAR, MIGRATING BIRDS FLY TO DIFFERENT COUNTRIES TO FIND FOOD.
Nick says, I THINK YOU CAN TICK IT OFF THE LIST.
The black-haired child narrates, WE LOVED SPOTTING BIRDS.
(Music playing)
Gran Gran and JoJo sit on a couch.
JoJo says, I KNOW YOUR FAVOURITE BIRDS ARE SWALLOWS, GRAN GRAN. BUT I LIKE THE BIRDS THAT LIVE HERE ALL THE TIME.
Gran Gran says, AND WHEN THE SPRINGTIME ARRIVES, WE CAN SEE THE SWALLOWS AND THEIR BEAUTIFUL TAILS.
JoJo says, I LOVE YOU, GRAN GRAN.
Gran Gran says, I LOVE YOU, TOO, JOJO.
