Transcript: Hedgie Hike
(Whistling music)
In a montage, Pins and Nettie explore and experience new activities together. Pins and Nettie join a birthday party with other hedgehogs. Pins and Nettie laugh together. They hop behind a bird on a sunny day. Nettie jumps in a puddle on a sidewalk. Pins and Nettie splash in splash in a puddle in the rain.

(Calm music plays)
In Pins and Nettie’s home, a flashlight sits on the top bunk of their bunk bed and a yellow backpack sits in the middle of the floor. Pins walks towards the backpack carrying a sandwich and water bottle in his spines.
A female narrator says, HI THERE, PINS.
Pins squeaks and smiles. Pins tosses the sandwich and water bottle from his spines and into the backpack. He hops across the room to a pair of sunglasses on the floor. Pins flips the sunglasses onto his spines with his nose, hops back to the backpack and flips the sunglasses into the backpack.
The narrator says, YOU SURE LOOK BUSY.
Pins turns and hops up to the flashlight on the top of the bunk bed. He grabs it and takes it to the backpack.
The narrator asks, ARE YOU GETTING READY TO GO
SOMEWHERE?
Pins squeaks. He puts the flashlight in the backpack. He squeaks again and looks thoughtful. He squeaks and hops out of the room.
The narrator asks, WHERE ARE YOU GOING?
Pins hops back in with a yellow hat. He flips over the back pack, dropping the hat into the bag. Pins grins and jumps up and down.
The narrator says, OOH!
YOU'RE GOING ON A HIKE?
Pins nods and smiles.
The narrator says, WHAT FUN.
I LOVE HIKING.
Pins hops to a coat tree by the door and grabs the umbrella resting against it. He hops back to the backpack.
The narrator says, LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE PREPARING FOR
EVERYTHING.
Pins squeaks. He adds the umbrella to the backpack.
The narrator says, WELL, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU
HAVE THE RIGHT SUPPLIES WHEN YOU
GO ON A HIKE.
Pins squeaks and nods. He hops to the side of the backpack and zips it closed then steps back.
The narrator says, YOU'RE READY?
Pins nods.
The narrator asks, WHERE'S NETTIE?
Pins points towards the door.
The narrator asks, IS SHE GOING ON THE HIKE WITH
YOU?
Pins nods. He jumps up and down and looks excited.
The narrator says, GREAT.
LET'S GO FIND HER.
(Door hinge squeaking)
Outside, Pins leaves and closes the door behind him. He carries the backpack. Pins squeaks, and looks thoughtful.
The narrator says, WHERE DO YOU SUPPOSED NETTIE IS?
Pins looks around him. He squeaks, but doesn’t find Nettie.
The narrator calls, NETTIE?
NETTIE?
Pins wonders through the grasses. He sniffs the ground. He stops and squeaks. He hops forward and finds Nettie sitting by a tree on a blanket reading a book.
The narrator says, NETTIE!
Pins squeaks.
The narrator says, THERE YOU ARE.
Nettie squeaks, but doesn’t look up from her book.
The narrator says, NETTIE?
Pins frowns and wavs his paw at Nettie. Pins squeaks. He jumps and squeaks. Nettie flinches and drops her book. She looks startled. She squeaks.
The narrator says, THAT MUST BE A GOOD BOOK,
NETTIE.
Nettie grins.
The narrator says, AND IT'S A LOVELY DAY TO READ
OUTSIDE.
Pins squeaks and grins. Nettie smiles at Pins.
(Narrator giggling)
The narrator says, YOU'RE RIGHT, PINS.
IT'S A LOVELY DAY FOR HIKING,
TOO.
Pins gestures for Nettie to go with him. Nettie frowns.
The narrator asks, DO YOU WANT TO GO ON A HIKE WITH
PINS, NETTIE?
Pins looks excited, but Nettie shakes her head.
(Squeaking)
Nettie goes back to reading her book.
The narrator says, OH, OKAY.
Pins looks shocked.
The narrator says, PINS, IT LOOKS LIKE NETTIE WOULD
RATHER STAY HERE AND READ HER
BOOK.
Pins looks sad. He squeaks and reaches a paw out towards Nettie. He puts his paw down. Pins looks upset. Nettie continues reading her book. Pin drops the backpack on the ground, looks at Nettie, then at the ground.
The narrator says, PINS?
Pins walks away.
The narrator says, SEE YOU LATER, NETTIE.
Nettie waves but doesn’t look up from her book. Elsewhere, Pins is curled up in a ball. His eyes peak out.
The narrator says, OH, DEAR.
ARE YOU OKAY, PINS?
ARE YOU DISAPPOINTED THAT NETTIE
DIDN'T WANT TO GO ON THE HIKE?
Pins closes his eyes.
The narrator says, YES, I KNOW.
YOU HAD IT ALL PLANNED OUT.
BUT NETTIE DIDN'T KNOW, AND
SHE'S QUITE HAPPY READING HER
BOOK RIGHT NOW.
Pins blinks.
The narrator says, YOU COULD GO HIKING WITHOUT
NETTIE.
Pins shakes his curled up self to say no.
The narrator says, OKAY.
WELL, IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GO
WITHOUT NETTIE, I SUPPOSE YOU
COULD WAIT AND SEE IF SHE
CHANGES HER MIND, OR—
Pins rolls away.
The narrator says, OH.
PINS?
Pins rolls into Nettie, bumping into her. Nettie looks surprised, and squeaks. Pins rolls back and looks at the ground. Nettie stands.
The narrator says, PINS IS A BIT DISAPPOINTED THAT
YOU DIDN'T WANT TO GO HIKING
WITH HIM, NETTIE.
Nettie squeaks. She walks over to Pins curled up self and rubs against him. Nettie smiles. She takes a step back and Pins uncurls himself. He stands beside Nettie and smiles. Nettie takes a step back and looks down at her book. She squeaks.
The narrator says, ONE SECOND?
FOR WHAT?
Nettie closes her book. Pins squeaks. Nettie squeaks and jumps up and down.
The narrator says, OH.
YOU'RE FINISHED READING?
Pins squeaks and jumps up and down. He grins. Nettie jumps up and down and squeaks.
The narrator says, AND NOW, YOU WANT TO HIKE?
Nettie nods.
The narrator says, SEE, PINS?
NETTIE JUST NEEDED A CHANCE TO
FINISH WHAT SHE WANTED TO DO
BEFORE SHE WENT ON A HIKE.
Pins and Nettie squeak and jump up and down. They look excited and smile.
The narrator chuckles and says, NOW, SHE CAN’T WAIT TO GO.
Pins and Nettie squeak and jump up and down. Pins puts on the backpack and the friends leave.
The narrator giggles and says, HEY, PINS, NETTIE?
WAIT FOR ME.

Pins squeaks. He puts the flashlight in the backpack. He squeaks again and looks thoughtful. He squeaks and hops out of the room.
The narrator asks, WHERE ARE YOU GOING?
Pins hops back in with a yellow hat. He flips over the back pack, dropping the hat into the bag. Pins grins and jumps up and down.
The narrator says, OOH!
YOU'RE GOING ON A HIKE?
Pins nods and smiles.
The narrator says, WHAT FUN.
I LOVE HIKING.

(Door hinge squeaking)
