Momolu says, BRAND NEW FLAG.
A pink flag flaps in the wind over a dock. Pepe and Momolu arrive. Pepe wears a yellow lifejacket and Momolu wears a purple lifejacket.
[Wind gusts, Pepe giggles birds call, upbeat music plays]
Momolu says, I'M SO EXCITED
TO MEET YOUR FRIEND.
NEW FRIENDS ARE FUN!
Pepe says, AND YONA LOVES
TO HAVE FUN! OH! I THINK
THAT'S HER SAILBOAT NOW!
YONA! YOOHOOO!
Yona is a grey seal with a small ponytail tied with purple bow on the right side of her head. She wears a pink lifejacket and holds a rope on her right flipper. She smiles from the bow of her sailboat.
[Water splashes]
Momolu says, WELCOME TO ITA ISLAND!
Yona says, I'M HERE FOR A FUN TIME...
AS LONG THE TIDE IS HIGH!
Yona throws her rope to Momolu and he ties it to a pole.
[Whoosh, thump, rope rustles]
Momolu says, OH!
[Wind gusts]
Yona says, AH!
Yona’s pink flag with a purple and an orange seal shape flies off her sail mast.
[Rattling, wind gusts, flapping]
Yona says, OH NO! MY FLAG!
I SHOULD HAVE TIED IT TIGHTER
TO THE SHIP!
LOOSE KNOTS ALWAYS GET
ME INTO TROUBLE.
[Rustling, sad music plays]
Pepe says, AW, I'M SORRY IT FLEW
AWAY, YONA.
Momolu says, MAYBE WE CAN GET YOU
ANOTHER FLAG?
Yona says, MY BEST FRIEND AND
I MADE THAT FLAG. IT'S SPECIAL.
[Upbeat music plays]
Pepe asks, WHAT IF WE MADE A
NEW FLAG TOGETHER? IT COULD
REMIND YOU OF ME, YOU AND MOMOLU!
Yona says, THERE'S NOTHING THAT
I LOVE MORE THAN DOING CRAFTS
WITH GOOD FRIENDS!
Pepe says, WE CAN ASK DJ BASS TO SPIN
SOME TUNES.
Momolu says, IT'LL BE A FLAG-MAKING PARTY!
[Cheering]
Later, Pepe, Yona and Momolu dance by Momolu’s craft table. DJ Bass stands behind her DJ mixer. A bear peeks over a bush behind her and waves.
[Rhythmic music plays, cheering]
Pepe says, YEAH!
Yona says, I'VE NEVER HAD SO MUCH
FUN MAKING A FLAG BEFORE!
Momolu asks, WHAT DO WE NEED FOR THE FLAG?
Yona says, HMM...SOME PLAIN FABRIC.
DO YOU HAVE ANY?
Momolu says, I'M SURE I HAVE SOME,
SOMEWHERE IN MY BARN.
[Upbeat music plays]
Pepe, Yona and Momolu enter Momolu’s barn.
Momolu pulls a tarp off a wheelbarrow. He shakes the dusty tarp.
[Rustling, shout, rustling]
Momolu says, UH-OH.
[Momolu sneezes, Yona laughs, cloth rustles, everyone giggles]
Pepe, Momolu and Yona unravel a bolt of fabric.
[Boing, tear, horn honks, crash]
They walk out wrapped in pink fabric.
[Everyone giggles]
Soon, they sit at the craft table with pink fabric on the table in front of them.
[Cheerful music plays]
Momolu asks, WHAT'S NEXT?
Yona says, THIS IS THE FUN PART,
DECIDING WHAT TO PUT ON THE FLAG!
Pepe asks, WHAT WAS ON YOUR OTHER FLAG?
Yona says, IT HAD AN ORANGE SEAL
AND A PURPLE SEAL ON IT,
FOR ME AND MY BEST FRIEND.
SO THIS ONE SHOULD BE
OF THE THREE OF US!
[Momolu giggles]
Momolu holds up a drawing of himself.
[Paper rustles]
Momolu asks, LIKE THIS?
Yona says, YOU GOT IT!
NOW, WE JUST HAVE TO DRAW
IT ON THE OTHER FABRIC
AND CUT OUT THE PIECES
TO SEW ONTO THE FLAG.
Each of them draws themselves on a square of fabric. Momolu draws on green, Yona on purple and Pepe on orange.
[Pencils scratch]
Pepe says, NOW, LET'S GET CUTTING!
[Scissors snip, rustling, cheerful music plays]
Yona says, NOW, WE GLUE IT ON!
[Squelching]
Pepe says, TA-DAH! HOW'S THIS?!
Yona says, I LOVE IT! THANKS!
NOW, LET'S GO RAISE THIS FLAG!
Soon, the new flag rises up the mast.
[Clinking, cheering, flag flaps, water splashes, happy music plays]
Yona shouts, YEAH!
Momolu says, LOOKS GREAT!
[Yona laughs, water splashes]
Pepe says, YEAH, KIND OF MAKES
ME WANT TO MAKE ANOTHER FLAG.
[Pepe’s wings whoosh]
Momolu says, ROLY-POLY PANDAS!
ITA ISLAND DOESN'T HAVE A FLAG.
Yona asks, THEN WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR?
[Cheerful music plays, thump]
Pepe says, FLAG MAKING PARTY, PART TWO!
[Giggles]
Pepe cheers, WOO-HOO!
Soon Momolu, Pepe and Yona stand by Momolu’s craft table.
Yona asks, WHAT DO YOU WANT ON YOUR FLAG?
Momolu says, HMM! BAMBOO SHOOTS
AND BERRIES!
Pepe says, ICICLES AND SNOW-CONES!
[Yona giggles]
Yona says, WHY NOT?! SOUNDS LIKE FUN!
Momolu picks up a paintbrush.
[Whoosh]
Momolu says, I THINK BANNI WOULD
LIKE PAINTBRUSHES MAYBE?
[Electronic music plays]
Pepe says, AND DJ BASS MIGHT WANT
MUSIC NOTES.
Momolu says, LET'S ASK EVERYONE
WHAT THEY WANT.
IT IS A FLAG FOR
THE ISLAND AFTER ALL.
Pepe, Momolu and Yona visit their friends and Momolu sketches in his notepad. In the café, Kimu juggles fruit. DJ Bass plays an electric guitar. Huhu wears a tutu and ballet dances. Hiko picks pink roses. Nooni stacks rocks in front of her house. Banni paints a picture of the sun low over hilltops. Beko holds a log and nods.
[Cheerful music plays, whooshing, pencil scratches, tapping, leaves rustle, rocks clatter]
Later, Momolu, Pepe and Yona stand by Momolu’s craft table. A line of sketches is spread out on the table.
Pepe says, WE HAVE A LOT
OF IDEAS FOR OUR FLAG.
Momolu says, MAYBE TOO MANY IDEAS?
Pepe says, OH, I SEE.
[Momolu sighs, paper rustles, gentle notes play]
Momolu asks, HOW ARE WE GOING
TO MAKE A FLAG FOR ITA IF WE ALL
THINK OF THE ISLAND DIFFERENTLY?
Yona suggests, MAYBE IT WILL MAKE
SENSE ONCE YOU PUT THE SHAPES
ONTO THE FLAG.
Pepe says, I HOPE SO...NOPE.
IT STILL LOOKS LIKE A MESS.
[Solemn music plays]
Momolu says, THIS ISN'T WHAT
OUR FLAG SHOULD LOOK LIKE!
I CAN'T SEE EVERYONE'S IDEAS.
IT IS A MESS.
Pepe says, UH-OH.
WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO?
Yona says, I HATE TO LEAVE YOU
LIKE THIS, BUT THE TIDE IS ABOUT
TO GO OUT AND I HAVE TO SAIL
WITH IT.
Momolu and Pepe stand on the dock. Yona smiles at them from her sailboat.
[Water splashes, upbeat music plays]
Pepe says, WE'RE GOING TO MISS YOU!
Momolu says, WE LOVED MAKING
THE FLAG WITH YOU.
[Water splashes]
Yona says, I'LL MISS YOU TOO!
I LOVE COMING TO ITA.
IT HAS EVERYTHING, GOOD TIMES,
CRAFTS AND FRIENDSHIP.
Momolu says, ROLY-POLY PANDAS!
THAT'S IT! THAT'S WHAT OUR FLAG
SHOULD BE ABOUT.
Momolu and Pepe say, FRIENDSHIP!
Yona says, I LOVE IT! UNTIL WE MEET
AGAIN, MY FLAG-MAKING FRIENDS!
Pepe says, FLAG-MAKING PARTY, PART THREE!
[Pepe giggles]
Pepe cheers, WOO-HOO!
Soon, Momolu and Pepe piece together colourful pieces of fabric to form a heart on a white flag. The pieces of fabric have small logs, a music note, a rose, a banana, an ice cream lolly, the sun and a tutu.
[Rustling, upbeat music plays]
Pepe says, FRIENDSHIP IS LOVE!
Momolu says, AND WE LOVE
ITA ISLAND!
Later, Momolu and Pepe stand on the dock with the flag attached to the bottom of a flag pole. Banni, Hiko, Kimu, Nooni, Beko and Huhu stand on the grassy shore.
[Water splashes]
Momolu says, WE THINK THIS FLAG
REPRESENTS ITA ISLAND.
TIME TO RAISE THE FLAG!
[Wind blows, squeaking, flag flaps, exclamations, upbeat music plays]
DJ Bass stands behind her mixer behind Banni.
DJ Bass says, THIS SHOWS WHAT OUR
LIFE ON THE ISLAND IS ALL ABOUT.
Banni says, A SWEET PATCHWORK HEART...
Pepe says, THAT REPRESENTS
ALL OUR FRIENDSHIP.
Momolu says, AND NOW AS MY
FRIEND YONA WOULD SAY,
TIME TO HAVE SOME FUN!
