Banni gently shakes the tree and more petals fall. Momolu dances beneath the falling petals.
[Rustling leaves]

[Banni giggles]

DJ Bass says, MOMOLU! BANNI!

I NEED YOUR HELP.

DJ Bass reaches up and knocks branches. A bear peeks around an evergreen tree and waves.
[Flowers rustle]

Banni draws in her notebook.
[Pencil scratches]
Banni says, I'VE GOT AN IDEA!
WE CAN SHOWER YOU WITH FLOWERS!
Banni shows a sketch of pink petals falling on DJ Bass.
Momolu says, THAT'S GENIUS!
Momolu blows petals away from his mouth.
[Blowing]
DJ Bass says, OH YEAH! I LOVE IT!
[Branches rustle, Banni giggles, upbeat music continues]
Banni says, WE CAN USE THE
PETALS FROM MY FLOWERS
THAT HAVE FINISHED BLOOMING.
Momolu says, LEAVE IT WITH US.
WE'LL HAVE SOMETHING READY
FOR YOU BY SHOWTIME.
DJ Bass says, AMAZING! I'M GOING
TO GO TELL EVERYONE!
Momolu says, LET'S START GATHERING PETALS.
Soon, Banni stands beside a pile of pink petals.
[Petals rustle]
Momolu says, PETALS, CHECK.
NOW, HOW DO WE DROP THEM
ON DJ BASS?
DJ Bass arrives and pulls a wagon with two speakers in it.
[Wheels squeak]
[Electronic music plays]
DJ Bass says, JUST CHECKING TO SEE
HOW THINGS ARE GOING!
OOH THESE PETALS ARE GORGEOUS!
NOW I'M REALLY EXCITED.
Momolu says, WE COMPLETED STEP ONE.
IT'S ALL GOING ACCORDING TO PLAN.
[Wheels creak]
DJ Bass says, UH-HUH. I KNEW YOU
TWO WOULD COME UP WITH A
GREAT IDEA.
Petals blow off the pile.
[Wind gusts, petals rustle, gasps]
Momolu says, WIND! THAT'S WHAT
WE NEED. THEN THE PETALS WOULD
BLOW ONTO DJ BASS.
[Upbeat music plays]
Banni says, YAY!
Momolu says, LET'S DO IT!
Soon, Banni stands beside a fan beside the petal pile.
Momolu says, OKAY, NOW!
Petals fly onto Momolu’s face and stick there.
[Click, whirring, splat, dramatic music plays]
Momolu says, OH!
Banni says, WHOOPS! SORRY!
Banni turns off the fan.
[Click, footsteps thump]
DJ Bass runs up and stands beside Banni.
DJ Bass says, OOH! GREAT MASK!
JUST SO YOU KNOW,
HUHU IS GOING TO CREATE A FLOWER
DANCE TO GO WITH YOUR PETALS!
GREAT IDEA, HUH?
She leaves.
[DJ Bass chuckles]
Banni hops to Momolu.
[Boings, petals rustle, sad music plays]
Banni says, WE NEED TO FIGURE THIS
OUT, OR ELSE NOT ONLY WILL DJ BASS'S
SONG BE RUINED, BUT HUHU'S DANCE TOO!
Momolu says, LET'S KEEP TRYING TO
FIGURE OUT A WAY TO GET THOSE
PETALS UP IN THE AIR.
[Upbeat music plays]
Banni says, I HAVE ANOTHER IDEA!
Momolu says, PETAL SHOWER COMING
UP IN ONE, TWO, THREE!
[Wind gusts]
A kite covered with petals floats up into the air.
Banni cheers, YAY!
Petals blow off the kite and away from Banni and Momolu. One petal lands on Momolu’s head.
[Slide whistle, Momolu groans]
DJ Bass arrives.
[Upbeat music plays]
DJ Bass says, GUESS WHAT? KIMU
IS BAKING PETAL CUPCAKES FOR
THE SHOW. HE LOVED THE IDEA OF
YOUR PETAL SHOWER! GREAT, HUH?
[Momolu and Banni chuckle nervously]
DJ Bass says, I BETTER GO FINISH
GETTING READY. BYE!
DJ Bass leaves.
[Sad music plays]
Momolu says, THIS IS NOT GOOD!
IF WE CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW
TO DROP THE PETALS, IT'LL RUIN
DJ BASS'S CONCERT, AND HUHU'S
DANCE AND KIMU'S CUPCAKES!
Banni says, WE JUST HAVE TO KEEP THINKING!
Momolu says, WHAT WE NEED IS
SOMETHING THAT WILL HOLD ALL
THE PETALS, THEN THEY CAN FALL
OUT AND SURPRISE EVERYONE.
Banni asks, HOW CAN THE PETALS FALL
ALL AT ONCE DURING THE SONG?
[Paper rustles, gasp, upbeat music plays, pencil scratches]
Banni says, WE COULD BUILD A PIÑATA!
WE MAKE A PAPIER-MACHE PIÑATA!
USUALLY THERE ARE CANDIES, TOYS
AND CONFETTI INSIDE.
THEN YOU WHACK THE PIÑATA
AND EVERYTHING FALLS DOWN
ON YOU LIKE RAIN.
Momolu says, I GET IT! WE COULD
BUILD A FLOWER-SHAPED PIÑATA
AND HANG IT ABOVE DJ BASS WHILE
SHE'S PERFORMING!
Banni says, YES! THEN HALFWAY
THROUGH THE SONG, WE CAN
SMASH IT OPEN, AND ALL THE
PETALS WILL FALL ON HER!
Momolu says, BRILLIANT!
Momolu and Banni gather around Momolu’s craft table.
[Upbeat music plays]
Banni says, FIRST WE MAKE A FRAME
IN THE SHAPE OF A FLOWER.
Momolu creates a flower-shaped frame. He puts it on a piece of paper and traces it. He and Banni cut out flower shapes.
[Scissors snip, thunk, pencil scratches, snipping]
They put flower-shaped cutouts on each side of the frame.
[Slide whistle, Banni giggles]
Banni says, NEXT, WE COVER
THE FRAME WITH PAPER IN
A GLUEY MIXTURE.
Banni and Momolu stick paper to the frame.
[Liquid splashes, thumping]
Banni says, AFTER IT DRIES,
IT BECOMES HARD!
NOW WE PAINT IT AND
FILL IT WITH THE FLOWERS
THROUGH A SPECIAL FLAP
IN THE BOTTOM.
Momolu stuffs petals into the piñata.
[Petals rustle, they cheer, upbeat music continues]
They high five. Banni picks up the piñata.
[Hands slap, thud]
Banni says, I LOVE OUR PIÑATA!
I'M GOING TO NAME IT
"PRINCESS PETAL PANTS!"
[Chiming, triumphant music plays]
Soon the piñata hangs over DJ Bass’s turntables and mixer on a stage.
Banni says, PRINCESS PETAL PANTS
LOOKS GREAT! WAIT TILL EVERYONE
SEES IT!
[Upbeat music plays]
Momolu says, LET'S BE SURE WE CAN
REACH THE PIÑATA WITH THE STICK
SO THAT WE KNOW WE CAN BREAK
IT OPEN. HERE. I'LL PRETEND TO BE
DJ BASS AND PLAY MUSIC.
Banni says, UM, EXCUSE ME.
Banni waves the stick beneath the piñata.
[Stick whooshes]
Momolu says, OOPS! HANG ON.
I DON'T THINK WE CAN HIT
THIS PIÑATA DURING THE SHOW.
THERE'S JUST NO ROOM.
Banni knocks a bow onto Momolu’s head.
[Slide whistle, sad music plays]
Banni says, YOU'RE RIGHT.
EVERYONE WILL BE
SO DISAPPOINTED.
[Momolu gasps, upbeat music plays]
Momolu says, ROLY-POLY PANDAS!
IF WE ATTACH THESE RIBBONS
TO THE HATCH DOOR ON THE PIÑATA,
WE CAN STAND ON THE SIDES
OF THE STAGE AND PULL IT OPEN!
Banni says, AND THE PETALS WILL
FALL DOWN ON DJ BASS!
WE WON'T HAVE TO BREAK
PRINCESS PETAL PANTS EITHER!
Momolu says, WE'LL NEED MORE RIBBONS.
RIBBONS. GLUE, PLEASE.
Momolu glues yellow ribbon to the hatch door.
[Upbeat music continues, glue squelches]
Momolu says, BY GLUING THESE
RIBBONS TO THE FLAP, WHEN WE PULL,
IT WILL OPEN AND...
Banni shouts, PETAL SHOWER!
Later, DJ Bass stands beneath the piñata on the stage. Huhu dances on a dance floor in front of the audience on the dance floor.
[Cheering, rhythmic music plays]
Banni and Momolu pull open the hatch and petals fall on DJ Bass.
[Grunting, cheering]
Banni cheers, I LOVE IT! WOO! YAY!
