[Playful music plays]
[Kids cheering]
Between Momolu and DJ Bass, a title reads, Momolu Minis. An episode title reads, “Let’s Make a Song!”
[Momolu humming]
Momolu carries a box of things outside. He places the box beside a rake leaning against his house. Another box is beside a birdhouse along with a garden hose, briefcase, and cooking pot with a lid. Momolu looks at a basketball in the box of things.
He says, HMM...
DJ Bass walks toward Momolu’s house. Momolu picks up the basketball.
Momolu says, HMM?
He spots DJ Bass approaching and drops the basketball.
[Momolu gasping]
Momolu says, BASS! DJ BASS!
DJ Bass says, OH, HI MOMOLU.
WHAT'S UP?
Momolu says, I WAS HOPING TO SURPRISE
HIKO WITH A SONG,
AND, UH,
MAYBE YOU CAN HELP ME?
DJ Bass says, OF COURSE I CAN!
THEY DON'T CALL ME DJ BASS
FOR NOTHING, YOU KNOW.
Momolu says, GREAT! SO WHAT DO WE DO FIRST?
DJ Bass says, WELL FIRST WE NEED A...
DJ Bass looks thoughtful.
He says, …BEAT!
LET'S FIND SOMETHING WE CAN HIT
TO CREATE A SOUND.
Momolu says, HMM...
He looks at his box of things.
Momolu asks, HOW ABOUT THIS?
He picks up a red bucket from the box. DJ Bass takes the bucket and places it upside down on the ground and taps a rhythmic beat.
DJ Bass says, PERFECT! THEN WE NEED A SNARE
OR A...
HEY, PICK UP THAT RAKE
OVER THERE!
Momolu grabs the rake leaning against the house.
He says, GOT IT!
DJ Bass says, NOW FIND A STICK
TO STRUM THE RAKE.
Momolu grabs a stick from the box of things. He strums it against the teeth of the rake. DJ Base taps a beat on the bucket.
[Rhythmic tapping and strumming]
DJ Bass says, NICE.
KEEP DOING THAT.
[Tapping and stumming continues]
Momolu says, HEH-HEH, THIS IS GREAT!
Momolu smiles. Kimu walks toward Momolu and DJ Bass as the music continues.
Kimu says, HUH? WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
DJ Bass says, HEY KIMU,
COME AND JOIN US.
Kimu asks, WHAT DO I DO?
DJ Bass says, GRAB THAT GLASS BOTTLE
AND THE WOODEN SPOON.
Kimu grabs a glass bottle and wooden spoon from Momolu’s box of things.
Kimu asks, THESE ONES?
DJ Bass says, YES. NOW USE THE SPOON TO KEEP
TAPPING RAPIDLY ON THE BOTTLE.
Kimu says, I CAN DO THAT.
He taps a quick beat against the bottle with the spoon. Huhu appears from behind the birdhouse.
She says, HOO-HOO! HEY FRIENDS,
WHAT'S UP?
DJ Bass says, HI HUHU, DO YOU SEE THAT
COOKING POT OVER THERE?
Huhu says, SURE.
DJ Bass says, NOW PICK UP THE LID
AND DROP IT BACK ON.
Huhu says, OKAY.
She flies down to the cooking pot, then lifts and drops the lit onto and off the pot at a fast pace.
[Pot clanging]
[Tapping and strumming continue]
DJ Bass says, GREAT. ALL WE NEED NOW IS,
UH...
Banni pops onto the box beside the bird house.
She says, HEY, GUYS!
CAN I PLAY?
[DJ Bass chuckling]
DJ Bass says, OF COURSE, BANNI.
[Banni giggling]
DJ Bass says, YOU CAN BLOW INTO THAT HOSE.
Banni picks up the garden hose and blows into the nozzle, creating a melodic brassy tune. The friends continue playing their home-made instruments.
[The friends make cheerful music]
[Momolu giggling]
Momolu says, I HOPE HIKO WILL LIKE THIS!
[Trumpet music plays]
Hiko joins the group of music making friends playing his trumpet.
[DJ Bass chuckling]
Kim continues tapping the glass bottle with his wooden spoon as Momolu strums the rake with his stick. DJ Bass continues tapping the upside-down bucket as Banni blows into the garden hose and Huhu lifts and drops the cooking pot lid onto the pot. Hiko continues playing his trumpet. The group stop playing.
[Cheering]
DJ Bass says, THAT'S HOW YOU CREATE MUSIC.
Hiko says, IT SURE IS.
THAT WAS THE BEST SURPRISE EVER.
All the friends say, LET'S DO IT AGAIN!
DJ Bass says, AND A ONE,
AND A TWO,
AND A ONE,
TWO, THREE, FOUR!
Hiko plays his trumpet as his friends play their home-made instruments.
[The cheerful music continues]
