Ranger Hamza opens the door of his wooden hut. He smiles as he steps outside. He wears his long black hair tied back and a red jacket.
Ranger Hamza says, HELLO, I'M RANGER HAMZA.
WELCOME TO MY HUT.
AS YOU CAN SEE, AND HEAR…
Ranger Hamza knocks on his hut wall.
[Knocking]
He continues, MY HUT'S MADE OF WOOD.
PEOPLE HAVE BEEN BUILDING
HUTS OUT OF WOOD
FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS.
THEY DIDN'T LOOK LIKE THIS, BUT
THEY WOULD HAVE USED BRANCHES
AND TREE TRUNKS.
He slings a backpack over one shoulder and smiles.
[Sliding fabric]
He says, I'M GOING ON A WALK
WITH THE RAMBLERS TODAY,
TO BUILD A DEN.
WE'LL BE MAKING IT FROM
BRANCHES FROM THE FOREST FLOOR.
DO YOU WANT TO COME ALONG?
GREAT! LET'S GO!
[Popping]

A dog’s tongue lolls out as a man pets its head.

The Ramblers run towards a large fallen tree.

The three Ramblers sit on a tree stump and look at the bottom of the tree trunk.

WE SEE IT GOING BIGGER,
AND BIGGER, AND

Ranger Hamza narrates, EACH
RING TAKES A YEAR TO GROW.
THE TREE WAS THIS
BIG AFTER ONE YEAR.
AND THIS BIG AFTER TEN!
The white number one appears at the centre of the trunk. A small green ring surrounds it and the number ten appears.
[Ding, ding]
Ranger Hamza says, IT HAS ONE HUNDRED AND
THIRTY RINGS IN TOTAL, SO IT'S ONE HUNDRED
AND THIRTY YEARS OLD.
The number one hundred and thirty appears at the edge of the tree trunk.
Evie suggests, WE COULD PRETEND TO BE
LITTLE TREES THEN GROW, THEN BIG.
The Ramblers and Ranger Hamza crouch and slowly stand, spreading their arms as they stand.
Ranger Hamza says, AND IT GOES UP, AND WE GROW.
BIGGER, AND BIGGER, AND BIGGER,
AND WE'RE BIG TREES AND
WE'RE BLOWING IN THE WIND!
The Ranger and Ramblers wave their arms.
The Ramblers say, WHOA.

THE TREE TO SEE HOW BIG IT WAS.

Red leaves cover grass. A grey squirrel searches in long grass.
Ramblers narrate, THE LEAVES

Tree branches stand straight up. An animated ghost appears over the branches.

A person walks two spotty white dogs across the bridge.

The Ramblers run and sit on a fallen log.

The Ramblers say, YEAH?
The Ramblers look at a pile of long sticks.

STORM THAT CAME HERE
AND KNOCKED SOME OF
THE TREES DOWN...
Ranger Hamza narrates, THEY'LL BE
PERFECT FOR OUR DEN BUILDING!
