Animated footprints move around houses and buildings on a hill. To the upper left of the hill, an animated cloud raining blocks the edge of a sun. Beneath the rain, a dark blue cloud floats. To the upper right of the hill, more rain fall from a cloud, patially covered by a compass showing “W, N, E, S”. Beneath that, a second snow cloud floats by a crescent moon. Text reads “Let’s go for a Walk.”
[Footsteps, rustling chimes]
[Upbeat music plays]
Ranger Hamza sits on a wooden bench beneath a tree. He picks items up off the bench and puts them in a bag. Ranger Hamza wears a red sweater. He smiles as he looks up.
Ranger Hamza says, HI THERE,
I'M RANGER HAMZA AND I'M
BUSY PACKING MY BAG FOR
TODAY'S WALK.
WHEN YOU'RE A RANGER LIKE
ME A BAG IS VERY USEFUL
FOR CARRYING THINGS.
Ranger Hamza puts items in his bag as he names them.
Ranger Hamza says, LIKE... MY BINOCULARS.
A TORCH. OR EVEN A DRINK.
ON MY WALK I CAN PUT ANYTHING
I COLLECT IN HERE.
I'M ABOUT TO MEET THE
RAMBLERS AND WE'RE GONNA
GO ON A WALK TO PLAY A GAME.
NOW NORMALLY YOU PLAY THE
GAME WITH PEN AND PAPER
BUT TODAY WE'RE GONNA USE
STICKS AND STONES.
DO YOU WANNA COME ALONG?
GREAT, LET'S GO FOR A WALK.
Animated buildings pop up on green hills.
[Popping]
Ranger Hamza narrates, TODAY
I'M JOINED BY RAMBLERS JACK
AND HIS BROTHER JOSH.
Jack’s short blond hair is parted on his left. He wears a puffy orange jacket over a grey hooded sweater. He carries a blue backpack on his back. Older than Jack, Josh has short blond hair and wears an orange puffy jacket and blue backpack. A man walks between them.
Ranger Hamza narrates, IT'S A LITTLE BIT
CHILLY SO THEY'RE WRAPPED UP IN
THEIR COSY JUMPERS AND JACKETS.
An animated map shows a brown path winding past trees and bushes. A small compass in the corner shows “W, N, E, S.” Footprints move on the path as Ranger Hamza speaks.
[Upbeat music continues, crunching footsteps]
Ranger Hamza narrates, TODAY
WE’RE STARTING OUR WALK IN THE
WOODS. WE'LL WALK ALONG THE TRAIL
THROUGH THE TREES UNTIL WE REACH
A PLACE WHERE WE CAN PLAY OUR GAME.
Ranger Hamza says, I WONDER WHAT
WE'LL SEE ALONG THE WAY.
Ranger Hamza tells the Ramblers, HI RAMBLERS
The Ramblers say, HI!
Ranger Hamza asks, YOU READY
TO GO FOR A WALK?
The Ramblers say, YEAH!
Ranger Hamza says, COME ON
THEN, LET'S GO, LET'S SAY BYE
TO DAD. BYE.
They wave at their father. Ranger Hamza waves as well.
Everyone says, BYE!
Ranger Hamza says, SEE YOU LATER.
[Mellow music plays]
Ranger Hamza narrates, WHAT DO YOU
THINK WE'LL FIND ON OUR WALK?
The Ramblers say, FROGS.
Ranger Hamza repeats, FROGS.
Jack says, AND CATERPILLARS.
Josh says, FOX. AND BUNNIES.
Ranger Hamza says, BUNNIES!
Ranger Hamza narrates, FROGS,
FOXES, AND BUNNIES? WE BETTER
KEEP OUR EYES OPEN.
Jack points at a round stone well.
Jack says, LOOK AT THAT WELL.
Ranger Hamza says, OH WOW!
SHALL WE TAKE A CLOSER LOOK?
Josh says, YES.
Ranger Hamza says, I'VE CHECKED,
AND THIS WELL'S BEEN FILLED IN,
SO IT'S SAFE FOR US TO LOOK IN.
BUT YOU SHOULD ALWAYS BE
CAREFUL AROUND WELLS.
Josh says, THERE WOULD BE WATER
IN HERE AND IT WOULD BE VERY
DEEP AND THERE WOULD BE A
BUCKET HANGING FROM THE ROPE
UP THERE.
Ranger Hamza narrates, THAT'S
RIGHT JOSH. BUT THIS IS A SPECIAL
TYPE OF WELL.
Jack says, A WISHING WELL.
Ranger Hamza says, A WISHING WELL.
SO, YOU CAN DROP SOMETHING INTO
IT AND MAKE A WISH.
Josh says, BUT YOU CANNOT TELL
ANYONE WHAT YOUR WISH WAS.
Ranger Hamza says, OH OK. SHALL
WE DO IT ALTOGETHER?
The Ramblers say, YEAH.
Ranger Hamza says, ALRIGHT.
GET YOUR WISHES IN YOUR HEAD.
Jack counts, ONE, TWO, THREE.
Ranger Hamza and the Ramblers throw rocks into the well.
Ranger Hamza says, GO! YEAH. LOVE IT.
Ranger Hamza narrates,WHAT
WOULD YOU WISH FOR?
AND WHAT'S THIS LITTLE HOUSE
ON THE WELL?
CAN YOU SEE THE NUMBER ON IT?
A small wooden house with a fairy door and shiny doorknob has the number thirty-eight on the door.
Jack says, THREE, EIGHT,
THIRTY-EIGHT.
Ranger Hamza says, THREE, EIGHT,
THIRTY-EIGHT.
Josh says, IT LOOKS LIKE A TRIANGLE
WITH A SQUARE BASE ON IT.
A blue line outlines the triangle-shaped roof on the house. An orange line outlines the square base of the house.
[Slide whistle]
Ranger Hamza asks, DID YOU SPOT
THE TRIANGLE ON THE WELL?
WHY DON'T YOU KEEP YOUR EYES OUT
FOR MORE TRIANGLES ON OUR WALK
TODAY AND AT THE END WE'LL SEE
HOW MANY YOU GOT!
Jack touches a white spot on the side of the well.
[Bird chirps]
Ranger Hamza narrates, JACK HAS
SPOTTED A WHITE SPECKLE
ON THE WELL.
I WONDER WHAT IT IS.
Jack says, IT MIGHT BE FAIRY DUST.
Ranger Hamza says, YOU THINK
IT'S FAIRY DUST?
RIGHT SO THE FAIRY
COMES OUT OF THE HOUSE.
Josh says, OPENS THE DOOR AND
SPRINKLES DUST?
Ranger Hamza says, OK.
Josh says, IT NEEDS MAGIC.
Jack opens the fairy door and looks in the little house.
Ranger Hamza narrates, LET'S
SEE IF THE RAMBLERS CAN SPRINKLE
SOME FAIRY DUST.
Ranger Hamza, Jack and Josh each hold a hand over the well as they walk around it.
Ranger Hamza says, OK. I'M JUST
GOING TO SPRINKLE FAIRY DUST
EVERYWHERE. SPRINKLE, SPRINKLE,
SPRINKLE. SPRINKLE, SPRINKLE, SPRINKLE.
[Chimes, upbeat music plays]
The animated houses, buildings and trees pop up on rolling green hills.
[Popping]
Ranger Hamza, Jack and Josh walk on a dirt path in the woods.
[Upbeat music plays]
Ranger Hamza narrates, WHAT ELSE
IS THERE TO FIND IN THE WOODS?
Josh says, TUNNEL.
Ranger Hamza says, OH WOW.
Josh says, IT'S A BIG TUNNEL.
Ranger Hamza asks, WHAT'S
OVER THE TOP?
The Ramblers say, A TREE.
Ranger Hamza says, YEAH.
Josh says, THE ROOTS ARE
GROWING OUT.
Jack says, BECAUSE IT'S
GROWING THROUGH IT.
Ranger Hamza narrates, ISN'T
IT STRANGE?
THE TREE IS GROWING BETWEEN
THE TUNNEL'S STONES.
THIS TUNNEL IS
ACTUALLY AN OLD MINE.
Ranger Hamza says, A MINE IS LIKE
A DEEP TUNNEL WHERE PEOPLE
DIG OUT MINERALS LIKE GOLD,
DIAMOND, OR COAL.
DO YOU KNOW ANY OTHER
PRECIOUS STONES?
Josh says, EMERALD. RUBY.
Jack says, GOLDEN NUGGET.
Ranger Hamza says, YOU MUST
NEVER GO INTO A TUNNEL,
A CAVE, OR A MINE WITHOUT
A GROWN UP.
WE'VE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS
ONE IS SAFE TO GO INTO,
BUT I'LL GO IN FIRST JUST TO
MAKE SURE.
WE'VE GOT OUR TORCHES SO
WE CAN SEE WHERE WE'RE GOING.
Jack points his flashlight at a rock.
He says, LOOK AT ALL THESE SHINY.
LOOK AT THIS ROCK, IT'S SO SHINY.
Ranger Hamza says, IT IS PRETTY
COOL, ISN'T IT?
Ranger Hamza narrates, I DON'T THINK
IT'S A PRECIOUS STONE BUT THE
MINERALS ON ITARE STILL COLOURFUL
AND SPARKLY.
AND THERE ARE ALSO LIVING
THINGS IN HERE.
A flashlight beam shines on a spider.
Jack says, SPIDERS HERE.
Josh says, THERE'S ONE SPIDER THERE.
Jack says, OH, SPIDER WEB!
Josh says, I FOUND MORE SPIDERS.
Ranger Hamza says, MORE
SPIDERS? SPIDERWEBS?
JOSH IS GOING TO CATCH ONE.
Josh says, I GOT HIM.
Josh catches a spider in a jar and brings it out of the tunnel.
[Click]
Ranger Hamza says, OH WOW.
Josh says, IT LOOKS LIKE
HE HAS STRIPES ON OR WINGS.
HE'S FLYING AROUND.
Ranger Hamza narrates, IT LOOKS
LIKE IT'S GOT WINGS, SO I DON'T
THINK IT'S A SPIDER. JOSH HAS
CAUGHT A DADDY LONGLEGS.
Ranger Hamza says, OK. SHALL
WE RELEASE IT?
Josh says, RIGHT THERE.
Ranger Hamza says, THERE IT GOES.
Josh says, BACK IN THE CAVE.
BACK IN THE CAVE.
[Peaceful music plays]
A Rambler says, THE TUNNEL IS
LIKE A TREE MONSTER'S MOUTH.
A rider wears a bright yellow shirt and black helmet as they ride a grey horse along a path.
[Clomping]
[RAMBLER] EVEN HORSES LIKE
GOING FOR A WALK.
Josh says, WHAT A LOVELY BIRD
HOUSE. IS ANYONE AT HOME?
Josh points.
Josh says, OH! A RIVER.
[Water rushes]
Ranger Hamza says, YEAH. LOOK
AT THAT!
Ranger Hamza narrates, THE RIVER
HERE IS BROWN, BUT JUST A FEW
METRES FURTHER UP, IT'S WHITE.
JOSH KNOWS WHY.
[Water burbles]
Josh says, THE RIVER IS GOING VERY
FAST AND HITTING ROCKS AND
MAKING LOTS OF BUBBLES.
Ranger Hamza says, THE FAST-MOVING
PARTS OF THE RIVER ARE CALLED RAPIDS.
Jack and Josh throw leaves into the river.
Ranger Hamza narrates, IF WE THROW
LEAVES IN, WE CAN SEE HOW FAST
THE RIVER IS FLOWING.
Josh says, JACK ONE'S GOING
ALL THE WAY OVER.
[Upbeat music plays]
Ranger Hamza narrates, IT'S NOT IN A
RUSH. GENTLY, GENTLY DOWN THE RIVER.
WE'RE NOT IN A RUSH EITHER JUST
ENJOYING OUR WALK AND WONDERING
WHAT WE'LL DISCOVER NEXT.
Josh says, IT'S A LITTLE WILLOW.
Ranger Hamza narrates, THEY
FOUND THESE WILLOW TREES.
Jack observes, IT WOBBLES.
Jack shakes a willow tree.
[Rustling]
Ranger Hamza says, IT DOES WOBBLE.
Willow trees join over the top of a path.
Ranger Hamza narrates, THE RAMBLERS
ARE WORKING OUT HOW PEOPLE
BENT THE WILLOW INTO THIS
TUNNEL SHAPE.
Josh says, THEY BENT THEM WITH
THEIR HANDS?
Ranger Hamza says, AND THEN
THEY JUST WOVE IT TOGETHER?
Josh says, YEAH.
Ranger Hamza narrates, THAT'S RIGHT.
WILLOW IS A BENDY WOOD SO
IT'S EASY TO WEAVE IT INTO A
SHAPE LIKE THIS.
[Ruslting]
Ranger Hamza says, LOVELY.
Jack says, CAN I GO THROUGH IT?
Ranger Hamza says, YEAH, GO THROUGH
SEE WHERE IT LEADS YOU.
DO YOU THINK I CAN FIT THROUGH?
Jack says, YEAH.
Ranger Hamza says, OH... I MIGHT
BE A BIT TOO BIG. OH, I CAN'T GET
IN. I'LL GET STUCK.
WHY DON'T YOU GUYS GO IN AND
TELL ME WHAT YOU CAN SEE.
[Rustling]
Josh says, THE TUNNEL KEEPS ON GOING!
Ranger Hamza says, ALRIGHT KEEP
GOING AND TELL ME WHERE IT GOES.
Ranger Hamza leans down and peers along the path. The Ramblers turn around and walk back along the path.
Ranger Hamza narrates, THE RAMBLERS
EXPLORE UNTIL THEY CAN'T GO ANY
FURTHER. TIME TO COME BACK. THEY
WOULDN'T WANT TO GET STUCK.
Ranger Hamza says, ALRIGHT COME ON,
LET'S SEE WHAT ELSE WE CAN FIND
ON OUR WALK.
Josh says, YEAH!
Ranger Hamza says, COME ON THEN.
LET'S GO THIS WAY.
[Upbeat music plays]
Animated footprints move past the well, tunnel, river and arching willow branches on the map.
[Crunching, popping]
Ranger Hamza says, WE'RE HALFWAY
TO THE PLACE WHERE WE CAN PLAY
A GAME WITH STICKS AND STONES.
ALREADY WE'VE MADE A WISH IN
A WELL, EXPLORED INSIDE OF A
TUNNEL, THROWN LEAVES IN A
RIVER AND WOVEN WILLOW
BRANCHES INTO A TUNNEL SHAPE.
LET'S SEE WHAT ELSE WE CAN
FIND AND DON'T FORGET TO
LOOK OUT FOR TRIANGLE SHAPES.
A stone house has a peaked triangular roof.
[Upbeat music plays]
A wooden bench features carvings of owls and the words “I like to Heap. The Tawny Owl.”
Josh says, I KNOW THIS IS A PIECE
OF WOOD. IT'S A WOOD BENCH
WITH OWL FACES ON IT.
Ranger Hamza says, YEAH!
Jack says, THE MUMMY.
THIS IS THE MUMMY, THAT'S
THE DADDY AND THE BABY.
Ranger Hamza says, ONE BIG
HAPPY FAMILY.
[Josh hoots]
Ranger Hamza points at Josh.
Ranger Hamza says, YEAH.
[Josh and Ranger Hamza hoot]
Ranger Hamza narrates, SO, WE CAN
DEFINITELY MAKE OWL SOUNDS
BUT WHAT ELSE DO WE KNOW
ABOUT THEM?
Josh says, THEIR EYES ARE LIKE
BINOCULARS AND THEY HAVE LIKE,
IF THEY'RE VERY HIGH IN THE AIR
AND THEY LOOK DOWN AND THEY'LL
SPOT ONE AND THEY'LL JUST
DIVE DOWN.
[Birds chirp]
Ranger Hamza says, WHEN THEY FLY,
YOU CAN'T HEAR THEM.
THEIR FEATHERS ARE DESIGNED
IN A WAY THAT THEY DON'T MAKE
A SOUND WHEN THEY'RE MOVING.
Jack nods and says, MM HMM.
Ranger Hamza asks, ISN'T THAT COOL?
ALRIGHT I'LL CLOSE MY EYES
AND SEE IF I CAN HEAR YOU GUYS
FLAP, OK?
Ranger Hamza covers his eyes and leans against the back of the bench. Jack and Josh run around him.
[Ramblers giggle, upbeat music plays]
Ranger Hamza says, FAST OWL!
[Ramblers laugh]
Ranger Hamza says, SLOW OWL!
[Ramblers laugh]
Ranger Hamza narrates, JOSH AND
JACK ARE EXCELLENT PRETEND
OWLS, BUT I WONDER IF THERE
ARE ANY REAL ONES AROUND.
Josh says, COULD PLAY HOOK AND
SPOT THE MOST BIRDS WITH
OUR BINOCULARS.
Ranger Hamza says, OK THAT'S A
WONDERFUL IDEA.
Josh points and says, OVER THERE!
Ranger Hamza says, OH, YOU'RE RIGHT.
Jack says, I SEE ONE.
Ranger Hamza says, YOU SEE ONE?
Josh says, I FOUND ANOTHER ONE.
Ranger Hamza says, JACK HAS SEEN
SOMETHING ELSE IN THE SKY.
Jack says, CLOUDS.
Ranger Hamza says, LOVELY. I LIKE
THE CLOUDS. WHAT WOULD THE
CLOUDS FEEL LIKE IF YOU
TOUCHED THEM?
Josh guesses, CANDY FLOSS.
Jack says, SOFT.
Animated white candy floss floats in the sky.
Ranger Hamza says, CANDY FLOSS. YEAH.
Josh says, SOFT AS A
SPONGE CAKE.
An animated sponge cake floats in the sky.
Ranger Hamza says, SOFT AS
A SPONGE CAKE.
Jack says, SOFT AS A BUNNY.
An animated white bunny floats in the sky.
[Boing, birds chirp]
Ranger Hamza says, SOFT AS
A BUNNY! WOW. THAT'S PRETTY COOL.
[Upbeat music plays]
Ranger Hamza narrates, TIME TO KEEP
MOVING, MAYBE WE'LL FOUND SOME
REAL OWLS DEEPER INTO THE WOODS.
A wooden owl perches on a tree branch.
Jack says, AN OWL! A WOODEN OWL.
I THOUGHT THEY WERE REAL.
Ranger Hamza narrates, SOME TYPES
OF OWLS COME OUT DURING THE
DAY BUT THERE'S A REASON WHY
WE DON'T SEE MOST OWLS WHEN
IT'S STILL LIGHT OUTSIDE.
Jack explains, THEY HIDE OUT IN
MORNING TIME.
Ranger Hamza repeats, THEY HIDE
OUT IN MORNING TIME?
Josh says, THEY DON'T LIKE THE LIGHT.
Ranger Hamza says, THEY DON'T, SO DO
YOU KNOW WHAT THEY CALL THAT?
Josh says, IT'S A NOCTURNAL.
Ranger Hamza says, THAT'S IT!
WELL DONE!
IF AN ANIMAL'S NOCTURNAL THAT
MEANS THEY LIKE TO COME OUT
AT NIGHT.
River water gushes over rocks.
[Water burbles]
Jack says, THE RIVER PUSHES AND
PUSHES BUT THE ROCKS DON'T MOVE.
Josh says, THE BUBBLES ARE
LIKE BALLOONS FLOATING
DOWN THE RIVER.
A Rambler says, POP, POP.
[Shouting]
Ranger Hamza says, OH, LOOK AT THOSE.
Small figures of bats on sticks poke out of a building beneath small stone archways.
Jack says, BATS. THAT'S WHERE
BATS WOULD LIVE.
Ranger Hamza says, THIS
BUILDING IS CALLED A DUCKET.
AND IT WAS MADE TO RAISE
ANIMALS LIKE BIRDS AND PIGEONS.
Jack asks, AND BATS?
Ranger Hamza says, YEAH, NOW
THERE'S BATS IN THERE.
Ranger Hamza narrates, CAN YOU
SEE THE LITTLE ARCH SHAPES?
As Josh counts, colourful lines outline the archways. Over each group of six archways is a peaked triangular roof.
[Chiming]
Josh says, THERE'S THREE ON TOP,
THREE ON THE BOTTOM, THREE
ON THE TOP, THREE ON THE BOTTOM.
SIX ON THAT SIDE SIX ON THIS SIDE.
AND THEN ADD THOSE TOGETHER, TWELVE.
[Upbeat music plays]
Ranger Hamza says, LOVELY.
ALRIGHT LET'S SAY BYE TO
THE BATS.
The Ramblers say, BYE.
The animated buildings pop up on rolling hills.
[Popping, slide whistle]
Ranger Hamza narrates, WE'RE NEARLY
AT THE END OF OUR WALK BUT THERE'S
STILL TIME FOR ANOTHER DISCOVERY.
Ranger Hamza and the Ramblers arrive at grass lined with a rocky ledge. There are two lanes extending from the bottom of an oblong area at the top. Two wooden picnic tables are located between the lanes.
Ranger Hamza asks, WHAT IS IT?
Jack says, OUR CASTLE.
Ranger Hamza says, A CASTLE.
Josh says, IT LOOKS LIKE AN R.
A red line traces the rocks around the edge of the playing field, forming a capital ‘R’.
Ranger Hamza says, YEAH, IT DOES.
Ranger Hamza narrates, A BIG
OR A CAPITAL R.
Jack says, IT'S STONE.
Ranger Hamza says, MMM.
Jack says, ALL AROUND THE CASTLE.
Ranger Hamza asks, AND WHO
LIVES IN THE CASTLE NORMALLY?
Jack says, WE HAVE KNIGHTS.
Ranger Hamza says, KNIGHTS.
The Ramblers say, THE QUEEN.
Ranger Hamza says, THE
QUEEN PERFECT.
JOSH AND JACK ARE COLLECTING
STICKS FOR OUR GAME.
WHILE THEY DO THAT, CAN YOU
REMEMBER WHAT WE DID TODAY?
Josh and Jack carry a large fallen branch across the grass. The animated map appears and footprints move along the brown path.
[Upbeat music plays, crunching, popping]
Ranger Hamza narrates, FIRST WE
MADE WISHES IN A WELL.
In a flashback, Jack says, ONE, TWO, THREE.
Ranger Hamza says, GO! YEAH.
Ranger Hamza narrates, WE EXPLORED
A TREE MONSTER TUNNEL.
In a flashback, Josh says, LOOK AT
THIS ROCK, IT'S SO SHINY.
Ranger Hamza says, IT IS PRETTY
COOL, ISN'T IT?
Ranger Hamza narrates, THREW
LEAVES IN A RIVER.
[Splash]
In a flashback, Josh says, IT'S GOING
ALL THE WAY OVER!
Ranger Hamza says, IT IS! IT'S GOING
ALL THE WAY THAT WAY!
Ranger Hamza narrates, AND WOVE
WILLOW BRANCHES INTO A
TUNNEL SHAPE.
[Whoosh]
In a flashback Jack says, IT WOBBLES.
[Rustling]
Ranger Hamza says, IT DOES WOBBLE.
Ranger Hamza narrates, WE PLAYED
AN OWL GAME.
In a flashback, Josh says, HOO, HOO.
Ranger Hamza narrates, AND COUNTED
ARCH SHAPES ON THE DUCKET.
[Pop, crunching]
In a flashback, Josh counts, SIX ON
THAT SIDE SIX ON THIS SIDE.
Ranger Hamza narrates, AND NOW WE'VE
MADE IT TO THE END OF OUR WALK.
Ranger Hamza says, REMEMBER I ASKED
YOU TO LOOK OUT FOR TRIANGLES ON
OUR WALK TODAY.
HOW MANY DID YOU SPOT?
DID YOU SPOT THESE ONES?
THE ROOF ON THE LITTLE FAIRY
HOUSE AND ON THE WISHING WELL.
THE BIRD HOUSE. THE BUILDING.
AND THE DUCKET.
[Dinging]
Ranger Hamza says, WELL, I HOPE YOU
ENJOYED OUR WALK TODAY, WE
CERTAINLY DID.
NEXT TIME YOU GO FOR A WALK
WHY DON'T YOU KEEP YOUR EYES
AND EARS OPEN, AND YOU CAN
HAVE AN ADVENTURE TOO.
Ranger Hamza and the Ramblers wave and say, BYE!
Ranger Hamza says, RIGHT.
COME ON LET'S PLAY THIS GAME.
OK, SO THIS GAME IS CALLED
NOUGHTS AND CROSSES. LOVELY.
Jack and Josh lay their sticks down and create a tic-tac-toe board on the grass. They use sticks and rocks as markers.
Jack says, CIRCLES AND X'S.
Ranger Hamza says, EXACTLY.
YOU LIKE IT TO BE IN THIS ONE. LOVELY.

GROWING OUT.
Jack says, BECAUSE IT'S
GROWING THROUGH IT.
Ranger Hamza narrates, ISN'T
IT STRANGE?
THE TREE IS GROWING BETWEEN
THE TUNNEL'S STONES.
THIS TUNNEL IS
ACTUALLY AN OLD MINE.
Ranger Hamza says, A MINE IS LIKE
A DEEP TUNNEL WHERE PEOPLE
DIG OUT MINERALS LIKE GOLD,
DIAMOND, OR COAL.
DO YOU KNOW ANY OTHER
PRECIOUS STONES?
Josh says, EMERALD. RUBY.
Jack says, GOLDEN NUGGET.
Ranger Hamza says, YOU MUST
NEVER GO INTO A TUNNEL,
A CAVE, OR A MINE WITHOUT
A GROWN UP.
WE'VE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS
ONE IS SAFE TO GO INTO,
BUT I'LL GO IN FIRST JUST TO
MAKE SURE.
WE'VE GOT OUR TORCHES SO
WE CAN SEE WHERE WE'RE GOING.
Jack points his flashlight at a rock.
He says, LOOK AT ALL THESE SHINY.
LOOK AT THIS ROCK, IT'S SO SHINY.
Ranger Hamza says, IT IS PRETTY
COOL, ISN'T IT?
Ranger Hamza narrates, I DON'T THINK
IT'S A PRECIOUS STONE BUT THE
MINERALS ON ITARE STILL COLOURFUL
AND SPARKLY.
AND THERE ARE ALSO LIVING
THINGS IN HERE.
A flashlight beam shines on a spider.
Jack says, SPIDERS HERE.
Josh says, THERE'S ONE SPIDER THERE.
Jack says, OH, SPIDER WEB!
Josh says, I FOUND MORE SPIDERS.
Ranger Hamza says, MORE
SPIDERS? SPIDERWEBS?
JOSH IS GOING TO CATCH ONE.
Josh says, I GOT HIM.
Josh catches a spider in a jar and brings it out of the tunnel.
[Click]
Ranger Hamza says, OH WOW.
Josh says, IT LOOKS LIKE
HE HAS STRIPES ON OR WINGS.
HE'S FLYING AROUND.
Ranger Hamza narrates, IT LOOKS
LIKE IT'S GOT WINGS, SO I DON'T
THINK IT'S A SPIDER. JOSH HAS
CAUGHT A DADDY LONGLEGS.
Ranger Hamza says, OK. SHALL
WE RELEASE IT?
Josh says, RIGHT THERE.
Ranger Hamza says, THERE IT GOES.
Josh says, BACK IN THE CAVE.
BACK IN THE CAVE.
[Peaceful music plays]
A Rambler says, THE TUNNEL IS
LIKE A TREE MONSTER'S MOUTH.
A rider wears a bright yellow shirt and black helmet as they ride a grey horse along a path.
[Clomping]
[RAMBLER] EVEN HORSES LIKE
GOING FOR A WALK.
Josh says, WHAT A LOVELY BIRD
HOUSE. IS ANYONE AT HOME?
Josh points.
Josh says, OH! A RIVER.
[Water rushes]
Ranger Hamza says, YEAH. LOOK
AT THAT!
Ranger Hamza narrates, THE RIVER
HERE IS BROWN, BUT JUST A FEW
METRES FURTHER UP, IT'S WHITE.
JOSH KNOWS WHY.
[Water burbles]
Josh says, THE RIVER IS GOING VERY
FAST AND HITTING ROCKS AND
MAKING LOTS OF BUBBLES.
Ranger Hamza says, THE FAST-MOVING
PARTS OF THE RIVER ARE CALLED RAPIDS.
Jack and Josh throw leaves into the river.
Ranger Hamza narrates, IF WE THROW
LEAVES IN, WE CAN SEE HOW FAST
THE RIVER IS FLOWING.
Josh says, JACK ONE'S GOING
ALL THE WAY OVER.
[Upbeat music plays]
Ranger Hamza narrates, IT'S NOT IN A
RUSH. GENTLY, GENTLY DOWN THE RIVER.
WE'RE NOT IN A RUSH EITHER JUST
ENJOYING OUR WALK AND WONDERING
WHAT WE'LL DISCOVER NEXT.
Josh says, IT'S A LITTLE WILLOW.
Ranger Hamza narrates, THEY
FOUND THESE WILLOW TREES.
Jack observes, IT WOBBLES.
Jack shakes a willow tree.
[Rustling]
Ranger Hamza says, IT DOES WOBBLE.
Willow trees join over the top of a path.
Ranger Hamza narrates, THE RAMBLERS
ARE WORKING OUT HOW PEOPLE
BENT THE WILLOW INTO THIS
TUNNEL SHAPE.
Josh says, THEY BENT THEM WITH
THEIR HANDS?
Ranger Hamza says, AND THEN
THEY JUST WOVE IT TOGETHER?
Josh says, YEAH.
Ranger Hamza narrates, THAT'S RIGHT.
WILLOW IS A BENDY WOOD SO
IT'S EASY TO WEAVE IT INTO A
SHAPE LIKE THIS.
[Ruslting]
Ranger Hamza says, LOVELY.
Jack says, CAN I GO THROUGH IT?
Ranger Hamza says, YEAH, GO THROUGH
SEE WHERE IT LEADS YOU.
DO YOU THINK I CAN FIT THROUGH?
Jack says, YEAH.
Ranger Hamza says, OH... I MIGHT
BE A BIT TOO BIG. OH, I CAN'T GET
IN. I'LL GET STUCK.
WHY DON'T YOU GUYS GO IN AND
TELL ME WHAT YOU CAN SEE.
[Rustling]
Josh says, THE TUNNEL KEEPS ON GOING!
Ranger Hamza says, ALRIGHT KEEP
GOING AND TELL ME WHERE IT GOES.
Ranger Hamza leans down and peers along the path. The Ramblers turn around and walk back along the path.
Ranger Hamza narrates, THE RAMBLERS
EXPLORE UNTIL THEY CAN'T GO ANY
FURTHER. TIME TO COME BACK. THEY
WOULDN'T WANT TO GET STUCK.
Ranger Hamza says, ALRIGHT COME ON,
LET'S SEE WHAT ELSE WE CAN FIND
ON OUR WALK.
Josh says, YEAH!
Ranger Hamza says, COME ON THEN.
LET'S GO THIS WAY.
[Upbeat music plays]
Animated footprints move past the well, tunnel, river and arching willow branches on the map.
[Crunching, popping]
Ranger Hamza says, WE'RE HALFWAY
TO THE PLACE WHERE WE CAN PLAY
A GAME WITH STICKS AND STONES.
ALREADY WE'VE MADE A WISH IN
A WELL, EXPLORED INSIDE OF A
TUNNEL, THROWN LEAVES IN A
RIVER AND WOVEN WILLOW
BRANCHES INTO A TUNNEL SHAPE.
LET'S SEE WHAT ELSE WE CAN
FIND AND DON'T FORGET TO
LOOK OUT FOR TRIANGLE SHAPES.
A stone house has a peaked triangular roof.
[Upbeat music plays]
A wooden bench features carvings of owls and the words “I like to Heap. The Tawny Owl.”
Josh says, I KNOW THIS IS A PIECE
OF WOOD. IT'S A WOOD BENCH
WITH OWL FACES ON IT.
Ranger Hamza says, YEAH!
Jack says, THE MUMMY.
THIS IS THE MUMMY, THAT'S
THE DADDY AND THE BABY.
Ranger Hamza says, ONE BIG
HAPPY FAMILY.
[Josh hoots]
Ranger Hamza points at Josh.
Ranger Hamza says, YEAH.
[Josh and Ranger Hamza hoot]
Ranger Hamza narrates, SO, WE CAN
DEFINITELY MAKE OWL SOUNDS
BUT WHAT ELSE DO WE KNOW
ABOUT THEM?
Josh says, THEIR EYES ARE LIKE
BINOCULARS AND THEY HAVE LIKE,
IF THEY'RE VERY HIGH IN THE AIR
AND THEY LOOK DOWN AND THEY'LL
SPOT ONE AND THEY'LL JUST
DIVE DOWN.
[Birds chirp]
Ranger Hamza says, WHEN THEY FLY,
YOU CAN'T HEAR THEM.
THEIR FEATHERS ARE DESIGNED
IN A WAY THAT THEY DON'T MAKE
A SOUND WHEN THEY'RE MOVING.
Jack nods and says, MM HMM.
Ranger Hamza asks, ISN'T THAT COOL?
ALRIGHT I'LL CLOSE MY EYES
AND SEE IF I CAN HEAR YOU GUYS
FLAP, OK?
Ranger Hamza covers his eyes and leans against the back of the bench. Jack and Josh run around him.
[Ramblers giggle, upbeat music plays]
Ranger Hamza says, FAST OWL!
[Ramblers laugh]
Ranger Hamza says, SLOW OWL!
[Ramblers laugh]
Ranger Hamza narrates, JOSH AND
JACK ARE EXCELLENT PRETEND
OWLS, BUT I WONDER IF THERE
ARE ANY REAL ONES AROUND.
Josh says, COULD PLAY HOOK AND
SPOT THE MOST BIRDS WITH
OUR BINOCULARS.
Ranger Hamza says, OK THAT'S A
WONDERFUL IDEA.
Josh points and says, OVER THERE!
Ranger Hamza says, OH, YOU'RE RIGHT.
Jack says, I SEE ONE.
Ranger Hamza says, YOU SEE ONE?
Josh says, I FOUND ANOTHER ONE.
Ranger Hamza says, JACK HAS SEEN
SOMETHING ELSE IN THE SKY.
Jack says, CLOUDS.
Ranger Hamza says, LOVELY. I LIKE
THE CLOUDS. WHAT WOULD THE
CLOUDS FEEL LIKE IF YOU
TOUCHED THEM?
Josh guesses, CANDY FLOSS.
Jack says, SOFT.
Animated white candy floss floats in the sky.
Ranger Hamza says, CANDY FLOSS. YEAH.
Josh says, SOFT AS A
SPONGE CAKE.
An animated sponge cake floats in the sky.
Ranger Hamza says, SOFT AS
A SPONGE CAKE.
Jack says, SOFT AS A BUNNY.
An animated white bunny floats in the sky.
[Boing, birds chirp]
Ranger Hamza says, SOFT AS
A BUNNY! WOW. THAT'S PRETTY COOL.
[Upbeat music plays]
Ranger Hamza narrates, TIME TO KEEP
MOVING, MAYBE WE'LL FOUND SOME
REAL OWLS DEEPER INTO THE WOODS.
A wooden owl perches on a tree branch.
Jack says, AN OWL! A WOODEN OWL.
I THOUGHT THEY WERE REAL.
Ranger Hamza narrates, SOME TYPES
OF OWLS COME OUT DURING THE
DAY BUT THERE'S A REASON WHY
WE DON'T SEE MOST OWLS WHEN
IT'S STILL LIGHT OUTSIDE.
Jack explains, THEY HIDE OUT IN
MORNING TIME.
Ranger Hamza repeats, THEY HIDE
OUT IN MORNING TIME?
Josh says, THEY DON'T LIKE THE LIGHT.
Ranger Hamza says, THEY DON'T, SO DO
YOU KNOW WHAT THEY CALL THAT?
Josh says, IT'S A NOCTURNAL.
Ranger Hamza says, THAT'S IT!
WELL DONE!
IF AN ANIMAL'S NOCTURNAL THAT
MEANS THEY LIKE TO COME OUT
AT NIGHT.
River water gushes over rocks.
[Water burbles]
Jack says, THE RIVER PUSHES AND
PUSHES BUT THE ROCKS DON'T MOVE.
Josh says, THE BUBBLES ARE
LIKE BALLOONS FLOATING
DOWN THE RIVER.
A Rambler says, POP, POP.
[Shouting]
Ranger Hamza says, OH, LOOK AT THOSE.
Small figures of bats on sticks poke out of a building beneath small stone archways.
Jack says, BATS. THAT'S WHERE
BATS WOULD LIVE.
Ranger Hamza says, THIS
BUILDING IS CALLED A DUCKET.
AND IT WAS MADE TO RAISE
ANIMALS LIKE BIRDS AND PIGEONS.
Jack asks, AND BATS?
Ranger Hamza says, YEAH, NOW
THERE'S BATS IN THERE.
Ranger Hamza narrates, CAN YOU
SEE THE LITTLE ARCH SHAPES?
As Josh counts, colourful lines outline the archways. Over each group of six archways is a peaked triangular roof.
[Chiming]
Josh says, THERE'S THREE ON TOP,
THREE ON THE BOTTOM, THREE
ON THE TOP, THREE ON THE BOTTOM.
SIX ON THAT SIDE SIX ON THIS SIDE.
AND THEN ADD THOSE TOGETHER, TWELVE.
[Upbeat music plays]
Ranger Hamza says, LOVELY.
ALRIGHT LET'S SAY BYE TO
THE BATS.
The Ramblers say, BYE.
The animated buildings pop up on rolling hills.
[Popping, slide whistle]
Ranger Hamza narrates, WE'RE NEARLY
AT THE END OF OUR WALK BUT THERE'S
STILL TIME FOR ANOTHER DISCOVERY.
Ranger Hamza and the Ramblers arrive at grass lined with a rocky ledge. There are two lanes extending from the bottom of an oblong area at the top. Two wooden picnic tables are located between the lanes.
Ranger Hamza asks, WHAT IS IT?
Jack says, OUR CASTLE.
Ranger Hamza says, A CASTLE.
Josh says, IT LOOKS LIKE AN R.
A red line traces the rocks around the edge of the playing field, forming a capital ‘R’.
Ranger Hamza says, YEAH, IT DOES.
Ranger Hamza narrates, A BIG
OR A CAPITAL R.
Jack says, IT'S STONE.
Ranger Hamza says, MMM.
Jack says, ALL AROUND THE CASTLE.
Ranger Hamza asks, AND WHO
LIVES IN THE CASTLE NORMALLY?
Jack says, WE HAVE KNIGHTS.
Ranger Hamza says, KNIGHTS.
The Ramblers say, THE QUEEN.
Ranger Hamza says, THE
QUEEN PERFECT.
JOSH AND JACK ARE COLLECTING
STICKS FOR OUR GAME.
WHILE THEY DO THAT, CAN YOU
REMEMBER WHAT WE DID TODAY?
Josh and Jack carry a large fallen branch across the grass. The animated map appears and footprints move along the brown path.
[Upbeat music plays, crunching, popping]
Ranger Hamza narrates, FIRST WE
MADE WISHES IN A WELL.
In a flashback, Jack says, ONE, TWO, THREE.
Ranger Hamza says, GO! YEAH.
Ranger Hamza narrates, WE EXPLORED
A TREE MONSTER TUNNEL.
In a flashback, Josh says, LOOK AT
THIS ROCK, IT'S SO SHINY.
Ranger Hamza says, IT IS PRETTY
COOL, ISN'T IT?
Ranger Hamza narrates, THREW
LEAVES IN A RIVER.
[Splash]
In a flashback, Josh says, IT'S GOING
ALL THE WAY OVER!
Ranger Hamza says, IT IS! IT'S GOING
ALL THE WAY THAT WAY!
Ranger Hamza narrates, AND WOVE
WILLOW BRANCHES INTO A
TUNNEL SHAPE.
[Whoosh]
In a flashback Jack says, IT WOBBLES.
[Rustling]
Ranger Hamza says, IT DOES WOBBLE.
Ranger Hamza narrates, WE PLAYED
AN OWL GAME.
In a flashback, Josh says, HOO, HOO.
Ranger Hamza narrates, AND COUNTED
ARCH SHAPES ON THE DUCKET.
[Pop, crunching]
In a flashback, Josh counts, SIX ON
THAT SIDE SIX ON THIS SIDE.
Ranger Hamza narrates, AND NOW WE'VE
MADE IT TO THE END OF OUR WALK.
Ranger Hamza says, REMEMBER I ASKED
YOU TO LOOK OUT FOR TRIANGLES ON
OUR WALK TODAY.
HOW MANY DID YOU SPOT?
DID YOU SPOT THESE ONES?
THE ROOF ON THE LITTLE FAIRY
HOUSE AND ON THE WISHING WELL.
THE BIRD HOUSE. THE BUILDING.
AND THE DUCKET.
[Dinging]
Ranger Hamza says, WELL, I HOPE YOU
ENJOYED OUR WALK TODAY, WE
CERTAINLY DID.
NEXT TIME YOU GO FOR A WALK
WHY DON'T YOU KEEP YOUR EYES
AND EARS OPEN, AND YOU CAN
HAVE AN ADVENTURE TOO.
Ranger Hamza and the Ramblers wave and say, BYE!
Ranger Hamza says, RIGHT.
COME ON LET'S PLAY THIS GAME.
OK, SO THIS GAME IS CALLED
NOUGHTS AND CROSSES. LOVELY.
Jack and Josh lay their sticks down and create a tic-tac-toe board on the grass. They use sticks and rocks as markers.
Jack says, CIRCLES AND X'S.
Ranger Hamza says, EXACTLY.
YOU LIKE IT TO BE IN THIS ONE. LOVELY.
