Mandisa walks around a playroom with two children. They spread their arms.
Mandisa says, BZZZZZZZZZ.
Everyone sits down at a table. One child has short brown hair and the other has black hair in two pigtails.
Mandisa says, WHAT INSECT MAKES HONEY AND MAKES A SOUND 'BUZZ'?
The brown-haired child says, BEE!
Mandisa says, BEE. THAT'S RIGHT, JUST LIKE THIS BEE RIGHT HERE.
Mandisa holds up a paper with a crafted bee glued on it.
The brown-haired child asks, WHO MADE THAT BEE?
Mandisa says, I MADE THIS BEE. WOULD YOU LIKE TO MAKE A CUTE LITTLE BEE OF YOUR OWN?
The black-haired child says, YEAH!
The brown-haired child says, SURE!
Mandisa says, OK, LET'S GO GET OUR CRAFT SUPPLIES.
(Slide whistle)
Mandisa and the children stand up.
(Music playing)
They hurry around the room, gathering supplies.
Mandisa narrates, YOU'RE GOING TO NEED WHITE CUPCAKE LINERS, GOOGLY EYES, BLACK POM POMS, BLACK, WHITE AND YELLOW CONSTRUCTION PAPER, GLUE AND A PENCIL.
Mandisa and the children are back sitting at the table.
Mandisa says, FIRST, WE'RE GOING TO TRACE A CIRCLE ON OUR PAGE WITH THIS BLACK PENCIL.
Mandisa turns small bowls over on sheets of paper. Mandisa helps the children trace the shape of the bowl.
(Music playing)
The brown-haired child says, NOT MY BEST.
The black-haired child says, TA DA!
Mandisa says, NICE, LOOK AT YOUR CIRCLE. WHAT COLOUR IS A BEE?
The brown-haired child says, YELLOW AND BLACK.
Mandisa asks, AND DO WE HAVE ANY YELLOW AND BLACK PAPER HERE?
The children pick up construction paper.
Mandisa says, OH! LOOK RIGHT THERE. SO, TO MAKE OUR BEE, WE ARE GOING TO TEAR THE PAPER INTO TINY LITTLE PIECES.
Mandisa and the children rip papers.
Mandisa says, TINY LITTLE PIECES. GOOD JOB.
The brown-haired child says, I'M MAKING A LOT OF CONFETTI.
Mandisa asks, WHAT ARE YOU DOING, ELLIE?
Ellie says, I'M MAKING A BUMBLEBEE.
The brown-haired child says, I'M ALMOST DONE.
Mandisa says, OK, NOW WE'RE GOING TO GLUE DOWN THE BUMBLEBEE COLOURS. ADD SOME BLACK.
The children glue bits of paper onto a white sheet of paper.
The brown-haired child says, I'M GOING TO MAKE MINE, LIKE SO.
Mandisa says, MAYBE ADD SOME BLACK RIGHT IN THERE.
Ellie says, I NEED TO PUT ON THE TOP.
Mandisa says, THAT'S OK, YEAH, YOU CAN PUT SOME ON TOP.
The brown-haired child says, I FINISHED MINE.
Mandisa says, GOOD JOB! WHAT SHOULD WE ADD NEXT?
The brown-haired child says, MAYBE THE STINGER.
Mandisa says, THAT'S RIGHT, THE STINGERS. SO CAN YOU TAKE A PIECE OF BLACK AND YOU CAN GLUE DOWN A STINGER AT THE BOTTOM OF YOUR PAGE.
The brown-haired child says, THIS IS MY STINGER!
Mandisa says, AND ADD SOME GLUE. RIGHT THERE. AND YOU CAN ADD YOUR STINGER.
(Chiming)
The brown-haired child says, NOW THAT I'M DONE WITH THOSE, NOW I HAVE TO ADD THE TEMPLATES.
Mandisa says, THAT'S RIGHT THE ANTENNAE. CAN I SEE YOUR ANTENNAS?
Mandisa wiggles two fingers by her head. The children do the same.
Mandisa says, SO WE'LL TAKE TWO PIECES OF CONSTRUCTION PAPER AND WE'LL GLUE THEM DOWN AS OUR ANTENNAS.
The brown-haired child says, THAT'S MY ANTENNA.
Mandisa says, GOOD JOB.
The brown-haired child says, ELLIE, YOU'RE DOING KIND OF GOOD, I WOULD SAY.
Mandisa says, SHE IS! WHAT SHOULD WE ADD NEXT, LUKE?
Luke says, I KNOW! THE BALL?
Mandisa says, THE POM POM, FOR THE ANTENNAE. YOU NEED TO PUT SOME GLUE ON YOUR POM POMS SO THEY'LL STAY.
The children use glue sticks.
Ellie says, I KNOW!
Mandisa says, SO GRAB YOUR POM POM AND PUT SOME GLUE ON IT.
(Laughs)
Luke says, I DID IT!
Mandisa says, YOU DID IT! GOOD JOB! OK, I HAVE A BIG BOWL OF GOOGLY EYES. WOULD YOU LIKE TO CHOOSE TWO GOOGLY EYES, ELLIE?
Mandisa holds out a small bowl filled with googly eyes.
Ellie asks, WHAT KIND OF GOOGLY EYES ARE THESE?
Luke asks, DO WE HAVE TO GLUE THEM ON?
Mandisa says, YOU DO HAVE TO GLUE THEM ON.
Luke says, OH, I DIDN'T KNOW THAT. I DON'T LIKE IT.
Luke glues the eyes onto the paper.
Mandisa says, GOOD.
(Music playing)
Mandisa says, BUT THEY'RE MISSING ONE THING.
Ellie says, WINGS!
Mandisa says, THAT'S RIGHT. I HAVE SOME LITTLE CUPCAKE LINER WINGS THAT I CUT OUT. OK, GOOD.
The children glue the wings.
Luke asks, WHY DO THESE GUYS HAVE LIFTING UP WINGS?
Mandisa says, ALL DONE, GOOD JOB. ARE YOU PROUD OF YOUR BEE?
Luke says, I'M SO PROUD.
Mandisa says, LET'S TAKE OUR BEES FOR A LITTLE FLY.
Ellie says, HERE.
Mandisa and the children stand up and move the bee crafts through the air.
