[Happy music plays]
Mandisa wears her long black hair pulled away from her face. She smiles as she holds up a cardboard robot and a paper bag decorated as a fox puppet. Text above her reads, “Curious Crafting.”
[Boing]
Mandisa sits in a chair by a green round table. She holds a piece of paper in front of her face. On the paper, a monster smiles with sharp, triangle paper teeth. It has purple arms and long yellow legs that dangle from the paper.
[Happy music plays]
Mandisa asks, DO YOU KIDS
KNOW WHAT I AM?
A girl with long black hair in a ponytail wears a bright long-sleeved red shirt. A bowy with short black hair and a blue long-sleeved shirt sits across from her with his hands folded on the table.
The girl says, A MONSTER.
The boy says, A MONSTER.
Mandisa says, THAT'S RIGHT.
I'M A PAINT SPLAT MONSTER.
[Animated scissors snip]
Mandisa folds thick white paper in half.
Mandisa narrates, IF YOU WANT
TO MAKE THIS CRAFT AT HOME,
FOLD A SHEET OF WHITE CARD
STOCK IN HALF.
OPEN IT UP AND ADD SOME
PAINT ON ONE SIDE.
Mandisa puts dots of green and yellow pain on one side to the card stock. She moves her fingers over the folded paper.
She narrates, CLOSE IT AGAIN
AND GENTLY SPREAD THE
PAINT AROUND WITH
YOUR FINGERS.
OPEN UP YOUR PAPER TO
SEE YOUR MONSTER HEAD.
CUT OUT A MOUTH AND ADD
TEETH. ADD GOOGLY EYES.
AND SOME WORTS.
Mandisa pushes a mouth into the paint and adds three eyes above the mouth. She puts blue circles around the monster face. Mandisa puts three long strips of paper on the top of the monster’s head.
Mandisa narrates, AND GIVE
YOUR MONSTER SOME HAIR.
FOLD PAPER STRIPS LIKE AN
ACCORDION. AND GLUE THEM
DOWN FOR LEGS AND ARMS.
Mandisa glues purple arms and yellow legs on to her monster.
Mandisa narrates, YOUR SCARY
MONSTER IS ALL DONE.
[Scratching]
Mandisa and the two children hold their monsters in front of their faces.
Mandisa says, OUR PAINT SPLAT
MONSTERS LOOK SO GOOD.
The boy says, RAAAAH.
[Dragging]
The girl says, RAAARRR!
Mandisa suggests, LET'S
GO TO THE MOON.
