Mandisa says, BLOWING BUBBLES ON A NICE DAY IS SUCH FUN. BUT WHAT IF WE WANT TO MAKE LOTS OF BUBBLES? WE CAN USE A BOTTLE AND A SOCK, AND WE CAN MAKE A BUBBLE MACHINE. WHO WOULD LIKE TO MAKE ONE?

(Bubbling sounds)

The children cry, ME! ME!

The children raise their hands.

Mandisa says, OKAY, LET'S GET WHAT WE NEED.

(Lighthearted music)

Mandisa and the children stand up and walk to a craft room. They gather supplies and the items appear on the table.

Mandisa narrates, WE'RE GOING TO NEED A WHITE SOCK AND WATERCOLOUR PAINT, CUT PAPER STRAWS, WATER, YARN, WOODEN BEADS, A WATER BOTTLE, EMBROIDERY NEEDLE, AN ELASTIC, PAINT BRUSHES, AND DISH SOAP.

(Scissor cutting paper)

Mandisa and the children are back at the low table with the craft supplies spread out on it.

Mandisa says, I HAVE A WATER BOTTLE, AND I CUT THE BOTTOM OFF LIKE THAT. YOU'RE GONNA TAKE YOUR WATER BOTTLE AND STUFF IT DOWN THE SOCK ALL THE WAY TO THE END.

(Lighthearted music)

Mandisa helps the children push empty plastic water bottles into white socks.

Mandisa says, WE'RE GONNA TIE OFF THE END HERE WITH AN ELASTIC BAND. SO YOU CAN TAKE THAT, AND YOU CAN TAKE THAT, PUT IT THROUGH THE SOCK, AND THEN WE WILL WRAP IT AROUND THE VERY END OF THE WATER BOTTLE THERE.

The children wrap elastics around the ends of the socks.

Mandisa says, AND NOW WE'RE GONNA CUT A TAIL FOR YOUR BUBBLE MACHINE. SO I'M GONNA USE MY SCISSORS, AND I'M GONNA CUT THE ENDS OF YOUR SOCK ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE ELASTIC BAND.

(Lighthearted music)

Mandisa cuts the ends of the socks in a straight line to the elastic.

Mandisa says, OKAY, NOW IT'S TIME TO GIVE OUR BUBBLE MAKERS SOME COLOUR AND DECIDE WHAT CREATURE WE WANT THEM TO BE. LET'S GO OVER TO OUR PAINT ZONE.

A child with short black hair says, YEAH!

Mandisa and the children get up and walk to another table.

Mandisa asks, OKAY, SEBASTIAN, WHAT CREATURE DO YOU WANNA MAKE YOUR BUBBLE MACHINE?

Sebastian has short black hair and wears a green shirt.

Sebastian says, A FISH.

The other child has black hair styled into two Bantu knots and wears a brown shirt.

The child in the brown shirt says, A SQUID.

The children draw on the socks with markers.

Mandisa says, GOOD JOB. ARE THOSE THE EYES?

Sebastian nods.

Mandisa says, YEAH. DO YOU WANNA DRAW A SMILE ON YOURS?

Sebastian says, I ALREADY DID A SMILE.

Mandisa says, OH NICE. KIYARI, I LOVE HOW YOU USED CIRCLES FOR YOUR TENTACLES.

Kiyari says, THANK YOU.

Mandisa says, NOW OUR SEA CREATURES ARE DONE. IT'S TIME TO DECORATE THEM. WE'RE GOING TO USE WATERCOLOUR PAINT AND BRUSHES. OKAY, SO YOU'RE GONNA DIP YOUR BRUSH INTO THE WATER.

(Lighthearted music)

The children use paintbrushes and paint to colour their socks.

Mandisa says, YOU'RE DOING SUCH A GREAT JOB. OKAY. WHILE WE WAIT FOR OUR BUBBLE MACHINES TO DRY, WE'RE GONNA MAKE OUR BUBBLE SOLUTION. AND TO DO THAT, WE'RE GONNA NEED ONE CUP OF WATER. WHEN WE GET TO THAT LINE RIGHT THERE, ONE CUP, YOU SAY STOP.

(Lighthearted music)

Mandisa pours water into a measuring cup.

Kiyari says, STOP.

Mandisa says, ALL RIGHT, NOW CAN YOU POUR THAT INTO OUR BOWL?

Kiyari pours the water into a large clear bowl.

Mandisa says, SEBASTIAN, WE'RE GONNA NEED FOUR TABLESPOONS OF DISH SOAP. AND YOU'RE GONNA PUT IT INTO THE BOWL.

Sebastian holds a spoon and Mandisa squeezes dish soap into it.

Mandisa says OKAY.

Sebastian empties the spoon into the bowl.

Mandisa says, AND WE'RE GONNA MIX IT TOGETHER.

Kiyari mixes the bowl with a red spatula.

Mandisa says, GOOD JOB. NOW THERE'S JUST ONE MORE THING FOR US TO DO.

Kiyari says, BLOW THE BUBBLES!

Mandisa says, THAT'S RIGHT. OKAY, DIP YOUR BUBBLE MACHINE INTO THE BUBBLE SOLUTION.

The children dip one end of their decorated socks into small bowls.

Mandisa says, PULL IT OUT. AND BLOW.

Mandisa and the children blow into the elastic-tied end. Foamy bubbles flow from the other end.

Mandisa says, THERE YOU GO. HOW MANY BUBBLES DO YOU THINK WE CAN MAKE?

Bubbles cover the table.

Kiyari says, A BILLION. A TRILLION.

Mandisa says, LET'S MAKE MORE.

Mandisa and the children blow more bubbles.
