A child’s voice cries, WHEE!

(Giggling)

(Music playing)

An animated sun shines. Mandisa waves from beside a tree. Mandisa has black hair held back with a headband and wears denim overalls over a peach t-shirt.

An animated bird and ladybug move around Mandisa. Mandisa holds a crafted rabbit and a colourful monster made from a tissue box.

A title reads: Curious Crafting

(Cheerful upbeat music)

Mandisa stacks wrapped presents on a bench. She wears a red t-shirt under her overalls. She walks over to a low white table and sits down. A child with long black hair and a child with short red hair sit at the table.

Mandisa says, THE HOLIDAYS ARE RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER. WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT THE HOLIDAYS?

The red-haired child says, SNOW ANGELS.

The black-haired child says, DECORATING.

Mandisa says, ME, TOO. I LOVE DECORATING, ESPECIALLY WITH A HOLIDAY TREE CENTERPIECE. WOULD YOU LIKE TO MAKE ONE OF YOUR OWN?

Mandisa puts a green tree-shaped craft on the table.

The children cry, YEAH!

Mandisa says, GREAT. LET'S GET OUR SUPPLIES.

(Upbeat music)

Mandisa and the children get up and walk to the craft room. The children gather supplies.

Mandisa narrates, WE'RE GOING TO NEED CARDBOARD TUBES AND GOLD FOAM SHEETS, CEREAL BOX CARDBOARD, A SINGLE HOLE PUNCH, PAINT AND PAINTBRUSHES, SPARKLY PIPE CLEANERS, A CIRCLE LEVER PUNCH, CONSTRUCTION PAPER AND BEADED NECKLACES.

(Paintbrush scraping)

Mandisa and the children sit back at the table.

Mandisa says, OKAY, THE FIRST THING WE NEED TO DO IS BUILD THE BASE AND TRUNK OF OUR HOLIDAY TREE. I'VE CUT OUT SOME CARDBOARD STRIPS THAT WILL BE THE BRANCHES OF OUR HOLIDAY TREE. WE WILL USE THE LARGEST ONE FOR THE BASE. WE'LL START BY FINDING THE CENTER AND MAKING A CUT HALFWAY DOWN. YOU'RE GONNA SLIDE ONE INTO THE OTHER LIKE THAT.

Mandisa sets up the cardboard base on the table. She helps the children make bases of their own.

Mandisa says, NOW, WE WILL ADD THE FIRST TRUNK. I HAVE CUT CARDBOARD TUBES INTO SMALL SECTIONS. YOU'RE GOING TO FLATTEN IT AND THEN MAKE A CUT ALONG BOTH SIDES ABOUT HALFWAY DOWN. YOU'RE GONNA FLATTEN IT AGAIN ON THE OTHER DIRECTION AND MAKE A CUT HALFWAY DOWN ON BOTH SIDES. WE ARE GOING TO SLIDE IT DOWN ONTO OUR BASE.

The children attach the cardboard tubes.

Mandisa continues, WE'RE GONNA MAKE FOUR MORE CUTS IN BETWEEN OUR FIRST CUTS.

(Playful music)

Mandisa says, NOW THAT WE HAVE ALL OUR BRANCHES AND TRUNKS PREPARED, FIRST NEED TO PUNCH A HOLE IN THE BRANCHES TO PUT ON THE…

The black-haired child says, DECORATIONS.

Mandisa says, FOR THAT, WE NEED A HOLE PUNCH. CAN YOU MAKE ONE HOLE RIGHT HERE, HERE, HERE AND HERE?

(Playful music)

The red-haired child punches holes.

Mandisa says, AND WE'LL DO THAT FOR THE REST OF THE BRANCHES.

(Paintbrush scraping)

Mandisa says, NOW THAT OUR HOLES ARE ALL PUNCHED, WHAT DO YOU THINK COMES NEXT?

The black-haired child says, WE STACK THEM TOGETHER.

Mandisa helps the children stack the cardboard pieces.

Mandisa says, AND WE'RE GONNA FIT IT THROUGH THE SLOTS THAT WE JUST CUT.

(Playful music)

Mandisa holds large sparkly gold stars.

Mandisa says, LET'S PUT OUR STARS TOGETHER. YOU'RE GOING TO SLIDE IT IN THROUGH THE SLOT THAT I CUT LIKE THAT, RIGHT THROUGH THE SLIT THAT I CUT. NOW THAT EVERYTHING IS ASSEMBLED, ARE TREES THIS COLOUR?

Mandisa points to the unpainted cardboard tree.

The red-haired child says, NO.

The black-haired child says, NO, THEY'RE GREEN COLOUR.

Mandisa says, LET'S HEAD OVER TO OUR PAINT ZONE.

(Playful music)

Maeve and the children get up and walk to another table. They paint their trees green with paintbrushes.

Mandisa says, ALL RIGHT, ALMOST DONE.

(Scissors cutting through paper)

Mandisa and the children sit back at the low table.

Mandisa says, WHILE OUR TREES ARE DRYING, WE'RE GONNA MAKE THE DECORATIONS. WE'RE GOING TO USE A CIRCLE LEVER PUNCH TO CREATE THE CIRCLES. WE SLIDE THE PAPER IN AND THEN YOU PRESS DOWN ON THAT LEVER. I'M GONNA MAKE A HOLE, SO I'M GONNA ATTACH THE HANGER.

Mandisa turns to the black-haired child.

Mandisa says, CLAIRE, CAN YOU SLIDE THAT PIPE CLEANER THROUGH THAT HOLE.

Mandisa looks at the red-haired child.

Mandisa says, AND RIVER, CAN YOU DO THE SAME? WE COULD START DECORATING.

Mandisa sets the dried green trees on the table.

Claire says, I'M PUTTING THE DECORATIONS OUT. I'M PUTTING IT THROUGH THE HOLE ONTO CHRISTMAS TREE.

(Playful music)

River hangs decorations shaped like circles on the tree.

Mandisa says, LET'S ADD SOME BEADED NECKLACES FOR THE GARLAND.

Mandisa pours a bowl of necklaces onto the table. The children pull out strands of colourful beads and drape them around their trees.

Mandisa says, GOOD JOB. WHAT'S THE LAST THING WE NEED TO ADD?

The children say, STAR!

They put yellow construction paper stars on top of the trees.

(Playful music)

Mandisa says, OUR HOLIDAY TREES ARE ALL DECORATED, BUT WE NEED A TABLE TO PUT THEM ON.

Claire says, MAYBE THIS ONE.

Mandisa says, GREAT IDEA. LET'S MOVE THEM TO THE CENTRE.

(Cheerful upbeat music)

They move the three decorated trees to the middle of the table.
