(Upbeat music)

A kid says, WEE!

(Child giggling)

The sun shines brightly over a park as an airplane flies past. Mandisa Watts, a smiling woman with dark hair tied up neatly in a colourful scarf, walks under a tree. She wears denim overalls over her peach-coloured t-shirt.

In the tree, a colourful bird sits on a branch. A ladybug lands on a purple flower. Other animals move through the park.

Mandisa catches a bunny rabbit made out of a cup and a fluffy monster made out of a tissue box.

Colourful letters read, “Curious Crafting”.

Mandisa holds up a calendar while she sits with two young kids. A boy with short dark hair and wearing a striped blue and white shirt sits across from a girl with shoulder-length brown hair wearing a purple sweater.

Mandisa says,
THE YEAR IS COMING
TO AN END SOON,
WHICH MEANS NEW YEAR'S
EVE IS COMING UP.
I THOUGHT WE COULD MAKE SOME
PARTY HATS FOR THE BIG EVENT!

(Hat twinkling)

Mandisa shows the kids a pointy hat. It is covered in tinsel, pipe cleaner, and string.

Mandisa asks, WHAT DO YOU THINK?

The kids reply, YEAH!

(Party horns whistling)

Mandisa says,
OKAY, LET'S GO
GRAB OUR SUPPLIES!

(Lighthearted music)

The kids follow Mandisa into the crafting zone. They collect their supplies.

Mandisa says,
WE'RE GOING TO NEED TINSEL
AND SPARKLY PIPE
CLEANERS, CARD STOCK,
ELASTIC STRING, FOAM STARS,
AND DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE.
OKAY, SO THE FIRST STEP IS
TO MAKE THE SHAPE OF OUR HAT.
SO I HAVE CUT OUT A TEMPLATE,
AND YOU WILL TRACE AND
CUT IT OUT OF CARD STOCK.

(Lighthearted music)

The kids trace their own party hats. The dark-haired boy makes a blue hat while the brown-haired girl makes a purple one.

Mandisa says,
WONDERFUL!
LET'S CUT THEM OUT.

The kids cut out the shape of their hats.

(Music continues)

Mandisa says, IT'S TIME TO-

The kids reply, DECORATE!

Mandisa asks,
DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS IS?

She points to the tinsel on her party hat.

The dark-haired boy answers, TINSEL.

Mandisa says,
I HAVE SOME COLORFUL,
SPARKLY TINSEL HERE.
WE ARE GOING TO ATTACH IT
TO THE BOTTOM OF OUR HATS
USING DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE.
DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE IS
STICKY ON BOTH SIDES,
AND IT'S GREAT FOR CRAFTS.
NOW YOU CAN START TO PEEL
OFF THE PAPER BACKING.

(Music continues)

The kids peel off the backing of the two-sided tape.

Later, the brown-haired girl reaches into a pile of red, blue, and silver tinsel.

Mandisa asks,
WHAT COLOR WOULD YOU LIKE?
BLUE, NICE.
WHAT COLOR WILL YOU
CHOOSE, MICHAEL?
SO NOW YOU CAN STICK THAT
IN YOUR DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE.
WONDERFUL.
THAT LOOKS AMAZING ALREADY!
ON NEW YEAR'S EVE,
THERE'S ALWAYS-

The kids reply, FIREWORKS!

Mandisa says,
TO MAKE OUR FIREWORKS,
WE'RE GOING TO USE
SPARKLY PIPE CLEANERS.
OKAY, SO CAN YOU FOLD THE
PIPE CLEANER IN HALF FIRST?
AND SQUEEZE THE BOTTOM, GOOD.
AND THEN CAN YOU
TAKE YOUR SCISSORS
AND CUT AT THE END THERE?

(Scissors snipping)

Michael, the dark-haired boy cuts a blue pipe cleaner in half. The brown-haired girl cuts a gold one.

Mandisa says, GOOD.

(Scissors snipping)

Mandisa says,
GOOD.
NOW, CAN YOU FOLD EACH OF
THOSE PIECES AGAIN IN HALF?

(Music continues)

Michael and the brown-haired girl fold their pipe cleaners in half.

Mandisa says,
YOU'RE GONNA CUT IN
THE MIDDLE AGAIN.

(Scissors snipping)

Mandisa picks up a small piece of pipe cleaner.

She says,
GOOD.
AND THEN YOU'RE GONNA
TAKE THAT FIFTH ONE,
AND WRAP IT AROUND YOUR
OTHER FOUR PIPE CLEANERS.
SO IF I WRAP THAT OTHER
PIPE CLEANER AROUND IT,
AND THEN TWIST IT
NICE AND TIGHT,
YOU'RE GONNA BEND EACH
PIPE CLEANER A LITTLE BIT
SO IT LOOKS LIKE ALMOST
LIKE A LITTLE SPIDER.
I'M GONNA MAKE LITTLE
HOLES IN YOUR HAT
WHERE YOU CAN POKE
YOUR FIREWORKS THROUGH.

(Lighthearted music continues)

Mandisa poked holes in the kids’ hats with a knife. The kids stick their pipe cleaner fireworks in them.

Mandisa says,
YOUR HATS ARE
LOOKING SO COLORFUL!
THE FINAL DECORATION ARE SOME-

The kids reply, STARS.

Mandisa empties sparkly stars out of a bowl and onto the crafting table.

She says,
I HAVE SOME SPARKLY AND
REGULAR FOAM STICKERS HERE.

(Music continues)

The kids stick the stars onto their hats.

Mandisa says,
NOW IT'S TIME TO TURN
OUR HATS INTO CONES
SO THEY COULD SIT ON OUR HEADS.

Michael asks,
HOW DO WE DO THAT?

Mandisa answers,
FIRST, WE'RE GOING TO FOLD
A TAB AT THE END OF OUR HAT,
JUST LIKE THAT, THAT'S RIGHT.
WE'RE GONNA ADD SOME
DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE AGAIN,
AND STICK THE TWO
SIDES TOGETHER.

(Lighthearted music continues)

The kids tape a fold on their hats.

Mandisa says,
NOW YOU'RE GOING TO
FOLD THAT AROUND,
AND STICK IT ONTO THAT SIDE.

(Music continues)

The kids tape their hats into a cone shape. The brown-haired girl puts hers on.

Mandisa asks,
DO YOU WANNA ADD A COLORFUL
FIREWORK TO THE VERY TOP?

The brown-haired girl answers, YEAH.

Mandisa says,
OKAY, THERE YOU GO.
YOU CAN POKE IT INTO THE
HOLE AT THE VERY TOP.
WE'RE GONNA ADD
SOME ELASTIC STRINGS
SO OUR HATS WILL STAY ON!

(Music continues)

Mandisa measures an elastic string against Michael’s chin.

She says,
TO ATTACH OUR ELASTIC STRING,
WE'RE GONNA USE A STAPLER.
ONE, TWO, DO IT TOGETHER.

(Stapler clacking)

Michael staples his hat.

Mandisa says, GOOD JOB!

(Stapler clacking)

The brown-haired girl staples her hat.

Mandisa says,
SQUEEZE.
OKAY, AND THE LAST THING
TO DO IS TO PUT ON OUR HATS
AND HAVE FUN!

(Party horn whistling)

Everyone shouts,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

(Uplifting music)

Balloons fall from the ceiling.
