Text reads, “TVOkids” and “Riverbank Pictures” “Original.”

[Child giggles, pop]

Text reads, “TVO Presents.”

[Cheerful music plays]

Mandisa wears her long black hair pulled away from her face. She wears light blue denim overalls over a sleeveless peach shirt. She smiles as she holds up a cardboard monster and an upside down drinking cup rabbit. Text above her reads, “Curious Crafting.”

[Boing]

Mandisa sits a white oval table. To her left sits a girl wearing a turquoise long-sleeve shirt. The girl wears her curly dark brown hair in two buns. To Mandisa’s right sits a boy with short brown hair. He wears a salmon long-sleeve shirt.

[Cheerful music plays]

Mandisa asks, WHO CAN DO AN
IMPRESSION OF A DRAGON?

The children say, ROOOAR!

Mandisa says, VERY GOOD!
AND MY DRAGON FRIEND
THINKS SO TOO.

Mandisa holds up two straws. One straw holds a dragon’s head, the other holds the back of the dragon. A paper chain body connects the two straws. The dragon craft breathes animated fire.

[Whoosh]

The girl says, COOL.

Mandisa asks, DO YOU WANNA MAKE
YOUR OWN DRAGON CRAFT?

Both children say, YEAH.

Mandisa says, OKAY, LET'S GET OUR SUPPLIES.

[Upbeat music plays]

The children gather supplies and place them on a white square table. As Mandisa lists the supplies, they appear on the table.

Mandisa says, WE'RE GOING TO NEED
A FEATHER BOA AND GOOGLY EYES,
PAPER PLATES, CONSTRUCTION
PAPER, DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE,
AND PAPER STRAWS.

An animated brush moves up and down. Soon, Mandisa and the children sit at the table with their supplies on the square table.

[Cheerful music plays]

Mandisa says, OKAY. THE FIRST STEP
TO MAKE OUR DRAGON
IS TO CUT OUT TWO CIRCLES,
ONE FOR THE HEAD AND
ONE FOR THE MOUTH.

TO MAKE THE CIRCLE,
WE'RE GONNA TRACE THESE
PAPER PLATES ON OUR PAGE,
AND CUT THAT OUT.

NOW WE'RE GONNA MAKE
THE MOUTH OF THE DRAGON.

The children trace small bowls on red construction paper.

Mandisa says, GOOD JOB. GOOD
CUTTING, GUYS.

I HAVE TRACED A
TRIANGLE FOR THE TAIL,
TWO BIG ARCHES FOR THE EYES,
AND TWO SMALLER
ARCHES FOR THE NOSE.

The girl and boy carefully cut out the shapes.

Mandisa asks, CAN YOU TAKE YOUR
BIG CIRCLE, THE DRAGON'S HEAD,
AND FOLD IT IN HALF, AND TAKE
YOUR SMALL RED CIRCLE AND
FOLD THAT IN HALF AS WELL.

YOU'RE GONNA GLUE THE
MOUTH TO THE INSIDE
OF YOUR DRAGON'S HEAD.

GOOD!

SO FIRST WE'LL DO THE EYES.

WE'RE GONNA FOLD THE
BOTTOM OF OUR ARCH
TO CREATE A LITTLE TAB.

NOW OUR DRAGON NEEDS SOME...

The girl says, EYES!

Mandisa says, YEAH. BIG GOOGLY
EYES FOR YOU.

LET'S START GLUING OUR DRAGON'S
EYES AND NOSE TO THE HEAD.

The boy asks, RIGHT THERE?

Mandisa says, YEAH. THAT'S RIGHT.
THE EYES GO IN THE BACK,
PUT SOME GLUE ON THE TABS.

The boy says, RIBBET.

Mandisa says, NOW IT'S TIME TO ADD SOME...

Both children say, FUR!

Mandisa says, THAT'S RIGHT.

FOR THAT I HAVE THESE
COLORFUL FEATHERS.

Mandisa puts a bowl of colourful feathers on the table.

The boy says, OOOOO.

Mandisa says, I'VE ADDED
DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE BACK
OF THE DRAGON'S EYES,
IN BETWEEN THE EYES AND
THE NOSE.

I ADDED SOME DOUBLE-SIDED
TAPE TO YOUR TAIL.

NOW WE'RE GONNA
MAKE OUR DRAGON'S...

The boy says, BODY.

Mandisa says, WE'RE GONNA MAKE A PAPER
CHAIN FOR THE DRAGON'S BODY.

SO I HAVE CUT OUT
SOME PAPER STRIPS.

WE'RE GONNA MAKE A
BIG CIRCLE LIKE THAT
AND THEN TAPE IT RIGHT THERE.

STICK IT THROUGH AND THEN
MAKE A LOOP WITH THAT ONE.

The boy makes a blue paper chain. The girl makes a yellow paper chain.

[Cheerful music continues]

Mandisa says, YEAH.

OKAY. YOUR PAPER
CHAINS ARE DONE.

LET'S ATTACH OUR TAIL TO ONE END
AND OUR HEAD TO THE OTHER END.

SO PUT SOME GLUE ON THE
BACK TRIANGLE RIGHT THERE.

WE'RE GONNA USE TAPE TO STICK
OUR HEAD ON JUST LIKE THAT.

LET'S TURN OUR DRAGONS INTO
PUPPETS BY ADDING TWO STRAWS.

WE'LL TAPE THOSE ON,
ONE TO THE BACK OF YOUR
DRAGON AND ONE TO THE FRONT.

Mandisa helps the boy and girl tape the straws to the paper chains.

[Clunk, rustling]

Mandisa says, ADD SOME TAPE THERE.

I CUT OUT TWO SETS OF TEETH,
ONE FOR THE UPPER AREA
AND ONE FOR THE LOWER.

OUR DRAGONS ARE ALL DONE.

SHOULD WE TAKE THEM FOR A WALK?

Both children say, YEAH.

Mandisa says, LET'S GO. ROOOAR!

Everyone says, ROOOAR!
