Episode title: The Rhythm Bug.

Doodoowah, Jasmine, and Jambo play musical instruments. Jasmine plays the trumpet, Jambo plays the banjo, and Doodoowah plays the drums. Lalalas sit on tiered hillsides and watch them play.

[Upbeat music plays]

Jambo says, GOOD MORNING, SOUNDLAND!
WE'RE THE DIXIE QUARTET, AND ON
THE TRUMPET, JASMINE!

[Trumpet solo, applause]

Jasmine says, AND ON THE BANJO, JAMBO!

[Banjo music plays, applause]

Jasmine says, ON THE DOUBLE BASS, DOOBEEDOO!

Jambo glances at the double bass, but Doobeedoo is not there.

Jambo says, OH.

Jasmine whispers. DOOBEEDOO?

Jambo whispers, HE'S NOT THERE, HE SOMETIMES
GOES OFF FOR A WALK AND
DISAPPEARS FOR HOURS, OR DAYS!

[Jasmine gasps]

Jasmine says, HMM, WELL, WE DON'T HAVE
A DOUBLE BASSIST, BUT WE DO
HAVE... THE EXTRAORDINARY DOODOOWAH
ON THE DRUMS!

Doodoowah hides behind his drum.

Jasmine asks, DOODOOWAH?

[Jasmine chuckles nervously]

Jambo says, HUH?

[Chuckles nervously]

Jasmine says, DOODOOWAH, WHAT ARE YOU DOING
HIDING BEHIND THE DRUM?

COME OUT!

Jambo says, IT LOOKS LIKE DOODOOWAH'S
GOT STAGE FRIGHT.

Jasmine asks, ARE YOU FEELING NERVOUS?
COME ON, DOODOOWAH, IT'S GOING
TO BE FINE.

[Trumpet and banjo music plays]

Jasmine says, DOODOOWAH, IT'S TIME FOR YOUR SOLO!

Jambo whispers, TRY TO PLAY WITHOUT THINKING.
LET YOURSELF GO, DOODOOWAH.

YOU HAVE TO SET YOUR IMAGINATION
FREE, AS IF NOBODY WAS WATCHING.

Jambo plays drum sets.

[Drum music plays, Jambo scats]

Jambo says, DON'T BE EMBARRASSED, DOODOOWAH.

Jasmine whispers, GO ON, DOODOOWAH!
IT'S SO MUCH FUN.

Still hiding behind the drum, Doodoowah reaches over the top and plays it. He lets go of the drumstick, which hits a Lalala in the audience.

[Groan, thunk]

Lalala shouts, LA!

Doodoowah hides behind the drum. Doobeedoo crawls towards the double bass.

[Meowing]

Jasmine says, HMM, ABOUT TIME, TOO,
DOOBEEDOO! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?

[Meowing]

Jambo swats at a fly.

Jambo says, THESE PLACES YOU END UP IN
ARE ALWAYS SO GRUBBY!

Jasmine says, COME ON AND TELL DOODOOWAH
HOW TO DO A SOLO, HE'S ALL
EMBARRASSED!

Doobeedoo hits himself with his tail. He scratches the side of his head.

[Scratching]

Jambo cheers, BRAVO, BRAVO, BRAVO!

Jasmine asks, WHAT'S WRONG WITH HIM?

Jambo cheers, YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!

Jasmine says, BUT JAMBO, DOOBEEDOO!

Jambo says, BRAVO, BRAVO, BRAVO!

Jasmine scratches and appears to be dancing.

Jasmine says, ITCHY, ITCHY!

Jambo says, YES, YES, ALL RIGHT!
MOVE YOUR BODY TO THE BEAT!
THAT'S BODY PERCUSSION THE WAY
IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE DONE.

Jasmine says, NO, I'M ITCHING ALL OVER!

[Slapping]

Jambo says, ME TOO!
ITCHY, ITCHY, OH!

[Upbeat music plays, rhythmic slapping]

Jambo and Jasmine imitate Doobeedoo scratching. Lalalas fall over and scratch against the ground.

[Slapping, yelping, rhythmic music plays]

A flea jumps off Doobeedoo and bounces past Jambo and Doodoowah. Jambo turns into a magnifying glass and examines the flea. Doodoowah flicks his tongue and eats the flea.

[Boings]

Jambo says, THEY'RE FLEAS!

Jasmine asks, FLEAS?

Jambo says, DOOBEEDOO HAS COME HOME
COVERED IN FLEAS, AND HE'S GIVEN
US FLEAS, TOO!

Jasmine says, UGH, AND HOW DO YOU STOP A
FLEA SOLO?

Jambo says, NO IDEA, I'M A
MUSICIAN, NOT A FLEA EXPERT!

Doodoowah hides under the drum and walks past Doobeedoo. Water sprays on Doobeedoo, Jambo, and Jasmine.

[Spraying, meowing, whimpering, gentle music plays]

The fleas hop away.

Jasmine says, AH, THANK YOU, DOODOOWAH!
AND GOODBYE FLEAS!

Jambo grumbles, AND GOODBYE CONCERT.

Jasmine says, YEAH, BUT WE HAD A GREAT TIME.

Jambo says, WE'RE THE KINGS OF BODY PERCUSSION!

Jambo turns into a drum and plays a rhythm on his head.

[Chuckles, drumming]

Jambo says, WE MAKE MUSIC WITH OUR BODIES!
WELL, NOT ALL OF US.

Jambo looks down at Doodoowah. Doodoowah’s eye fills with tears.

Jasmine says, HMM.

[Gasps]

Jasmine says, I'M GETTING AN IDEA!

Jasmine catches a flea.

Jasmine says, AH, GOT IT!

Jambo says, THE IDEA?

Jasmine says, NO, A FLEA.

Ta-da jumps over Jambo.

[Fanfare plays, Jambo chuckles]

Jasmine says, AH!

Jasmine puts the flea on Doodoowah. He closes his eye as the flea jumps around.

Jasmine says, THIS WILL DEFINITELY
HELP YOU LOOSEN UP, DOODOOWAH.

[Rhythmic slapping, tinking]

Jambo turns into a fire engine.

Jambo says, WHEN YOU WANT TO STOP,
JUST LET ME KNOW.

[Swing music plays]

Jasmine and Jambo sing, MAKE LIKE
YOU ARE SHOOING FLIES
OR SWATTING MOSQUITOES.
PAT YOUR ARMS
AND SLAP YOUR LEGS,
AND YOU'LL SOON SEE
HOW IT GOES.

Jasmine hits a tambourine with a fly swatter.

Jasmine and Jambo sing, TAP YOUR LEFT FOOT,
TAP YOUR RIGHT FOOT,
AS IF THEY WERE ASLEEP.
STOMPING ON THE DANCE FLOOR
TO MAKE A CATCHY BEAT.

Jasmine plays her trumpet.

[Swing music continues]

Doodoowah plays a tambourine with his tongue.

Jasmine and Jambo sing, RHYTHM IS A CRAZY BUG
THAT GETS UNDER YOUR SKIN.

AND WHEN IT BITES,
DON'T TRY TO FIGHT,
GET UP AND MOVE AS IF YOU
HAD TO SHOO SOME PESKY FLIES.
OR SWAT THOSE MOSQUITOES.

PAT YOUR ARMS
AND SLAP YOUR LEGS,
YOU'LL SOON SEE HOW IT GOES.

TAP YOUR LEFT FOOT,
TAP YOUR RIGHT FOOT,
AS IF THEY WERE ASLEEP.

Doodoowah plays his drum.

Jasmine and Jambo sing, STOMPING ON THE DANCE FLOOR
TO MAKE A CATCHY BEAT,
STOMPING ON THE DANCE FLOOR
TO MAKE A CATCHY BEAT.

The sun smiles down on Soundland.

Doobeedoo watches Doodoowah slap at the flea.

[Slapping, grunting]

Jasmine says, DOODOOWAH HAD SO MUCH FUN
HE FORGOT ABOUT HIS STAGE FRIGHT
AND NOW HE CAN DO HIS SOLOS
WITHOUT A FLEA!

Jambo says, YEAH.

Jasmine asks, WHAT ARE YOU HIDING?
HAVE YOU GOT A FLEA?
BUT YOU DON'T EVEN NEED THEM!

Jambo holds up a bag with a flea inside it.

Jambo says, WELL, YOU NEVER KNOW.
I MIGHT NEED A BOOST.

Jasmine says, I THINK YOU MIGHT NEED TO DO
THE JITTERBUG!

[Laughing, rhythmic clapping]
