In an animation, fluffy white clouds fill the sky above a town on a green hill.

A narrator says, IN THIS LITTLE TOWN
LIVES A KITTEN NAMED COOKIE,
HIS BIG BROTHER PUDDING, AND
THEIR LITTLE SISTER CANDY.

Cookie, Pudding and Candy are orange kittens with striped tails. Cookie, wearing a sailor hat, rides a boat. Pudding, wearing a stocking cap, is pulled off the ground by a kite. Candy, wearing a red bow, skips rope at the top of a small hill. Her brothers join her on the hill.

The narrator continues, LOTS OF OTHER KITTENS LIVE
HERE, TOO.

Other kittens join the siblings at the bottom of the hill and wave.

The narrator says, COOKIE, CANDY, AND PUDDING.
KID-E-CATS.

The siblings smile.

Cookie and Pudding say, WE'RE CUTE!

Candy says, BUT I'M CUTER.

Together, the siblings say, ME-WOW!

The title reads, Kid-e-Cats.

The narrator reads the episode title.

They say, MAKING PROMISES.

[Gentle music plays]

The narrator says, ONE DAY, THE KITTENS DECIDED
TO BUILD A TOY THEATRE.

In Cookie, Candy and Pudding’s bedroom, Candy adds a doll to a cardboard theatre. Cookie and Pudding stand on the other side of the theatre.

She says, READY TO PLAY.
THE ONLY THING MISSING IS
LIGHTS.
COOKIE, HAND ME YOUR FLASHLIGHT.

Cookie says, OH, I JUST REMEMBERED I LENT
IT TO CHASE.

Pudding says, BUT YOU PROMISED WE COULD USE
IT FOR OUR THEATRE!

Cookie says, I DIDN'T PROMISE.
I JUST SAID YOU COULD USE IT.
THAT'S ALL.

Candy says, YOU HAVE TO KEEP YOUR
PROMISES, OR I WON'T LET YOU USE
MY DOLL FURNITURE.

She takes a doll house bench away from the theatre.

Pudding says, WAIT.
THIS WILL NEVER WORK LIKE THAT.
LET'S MAKE SURE EVERYONE KEEPS
THEIR PROMISES THE GROWN-UP WAY.

Cookie and Candy ask, HOW DOES THAT
WORK?

Pudding puts a folder on a table.

He explains, GROWN-UPS WRITE THEIR
PROMISES DOWN.
THEY'RE CALLED CONTRACTS, AND
THEY'RE LIKE THIS.

Pudding opens the folder. He grabs a pen and starts writing on a piece of paper. Pudding imagines himself, Cookie and Candy wearing suits. Cookie and Candy carry briefcases. Pudding writes a contract.

Pudding says, "I, COOKIE, PROMISE TO GIVE MY
FLASHLIGHT TO THE THEATRE.

Cookie opens his briefcase and takes out a flashlight.

Pudding continues, AND I, CANDY, PROMISE TO GIVE MY
DOLL FURNITURE TO THE THEATRE.

Candy opens her briefcase and takes out a dollhouse bench.

Pudding adds, AND IF ONE OF US BREAKS THE
CONTRACT, UH, THEY GOT TO PICK
UP ALL THE TOYS BEFORE BED."

Cookie says, YEAH, THAT SOUNDS FAIR.

Pudding says, THE CONTRACT IS DONE.

He turns the contract toward Cookie and Candy.

Pudding says, NOW, YOU GOT TO SIGN IT.

Candy says, I'LL SIGN IT WITH A FLOWER.

[Candy giggling]

Candy draws a flower on the contract and pushes the folder toward Cookie.

Cookie says, I'LL SIGN IT WITH A STAR.

He draws a star on the contract and shakes hands with Candy.

In reality, Putting says, THERE, OUR PROMISES ARE
WRITTEN DOWN HERE, AND WE CAN
NEVER GO BACK ON THEM.

He shows Cookie and Candy a written contract with their drawing signatures.

Cookie, Candy, and Pudding say, SO AWESOME!

Cookie and Pudding hold Candy’s paws, and they all wiggle their arms.

They cheer, ME-WOW, ME-WOW,
ME-WOW, ME-WOW!

The narrator says, THE KITTENS LOVED FEELING SO
BUSINESS-LIKE, JUST LIKE
GROWN-UPS, AND DECIDED TO MAKE
SEVERAL MORE CONTRACTS.

Pudding grabs another piece of paper and writes another contract.

[Pen scribbling]

Outside, a red butterfly and a yellow butterfly flutter past the house. Inside, Cookie bounces a basketball toward the door.

[Basketball bouncing]

Candy walks to the door with a net. Cookie opens the door.

[Door squeaking]

Pudding demands, WHERE ARE YOU GOING?

Cookie and Candy frown. They turn to Pudding. Pudding holds the contract folder.

Pudding says, IN THE CONTRACT, GUYS, IT SAYS
IT'S TIME FOR US TO WATCH A
NATURE SHOW ABOUT BIRDS.

He checks a contract in the folder. Candy glances at Cookie. She drags her net on the floor and walks toward Pudding. Cookie closes the door.

Cookie says, BUT WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY WAY OF
KNOWING THE WEATHER WOULD BE
THIS PERFECT!

He joins Candy and Pudding.

Cookie says, I WANT TO GO OUT.

Pudding says, YOU'LL PAY A PENALTY IF YOU
DO.
YOU'LL HAVE TO GIVE CANDY AND I
YOUR DESSERT.

[Cookie sighing]

Cookie says, ALRIGHT, FINE.

He starts to walk away.

Pudding says, STOP!

Cookie stops and glances at Pudding.

Pudding says, YOU HAVE TO SIGN THAT YOU'LL
GIVE UP YOUR DESSERT.

He turns the contract toward Cookie. Cookie glares at Pudding.

[Cookie groaning]

Cookie signs a star on the contract and runs outside with his basketball.

[Cookie laughing]

In the living room, on T.V., ducks fly through the sky in a show.

[Quacking]

Candy sits in a chair beside Pudding. She looks bored. Pudding smiles and turns off the T.V. Mommy walks over to Pudding and Candy.

Mommy asks, KITTENS, CAN YOU PLEASE TAKE
OUT THE GARBAGE?
IT'S RIGHT THERE IN THE HALLWAY.
AND WATER THE PLANTS.

Candy and Pudding say, YEAH, SURE!

Mommy walks away.

Pudding says, SO, I'LL TAKE THE GARBAGE,
AND YOU CAN WATER THE PLANTS.
LET'S WRITE THE CONTRACT FOR IT.

He opens the contract folder. Candy frowns. Cookie runs into the room. Pudding writes a contract.

[Pen scratching]

Cookie says, I INVITED OUR FRIENDS OVER TO
PLAY WITH THE TOY THEATRE.

Pudding frowns. Candy smiles.

[Candy giggling]

Candy follows Cookie out of the room. In Cookie, Candy, and Pudding’s bedroom, different kittens grab the theatre dolls.

[Kittens talking over each other]

[Giggling]

Someone says, THIS ONE’S MINE.

Another says, THIS IS AWESOME!

Candy says, THIS ONE IS FUNNY.

She holds a blond-haired doll. Chase, Boris, Mustard, Cupcake, Cookie and Raisin each hold a doll.

Cupcake says, THIS ONE IS VERY BEAUTIFUL.

She holds a curly-haired doll.

Mustard says, I LIKE IT.

[Giggling]

From close by, Pudding says, WAIT A MINUTE!

Everyone turns and looks at Pudding in the doorway. Pudding walks into the room with the contract folder. He puts the folder on the table and drags the table over to a stool.

[Table scraping against the floor]

Pudding says, WE NEED TO WRITE A CONTRACT
ABOUT WHAT CHARACTER EVERYONE'S
GOING TO PLAY.

Chase says, HUH?

He looks at Candy.

Candy shrugs and says, HMM-UM.

Pudding sits at the table and writes a contract. Mustard, Cupcake and Candy sit on Candy’s bed. Mustard is asleep. Chase sits on the floor against the bed frame. Boris leads against the wall. Raisin stands by Cookie and Pudding’s bunk beds. Cookie paces by the window.

The narrator says, THERE WERE A LOT OF KITTENS
AND A LOT OF DOLLS.
SO THE CONTRACT TURNED OUT TO
BE VERY LONG.

Pudding says, IT'S DONE NOW.
ALL THAT'S LEFT IS FOR US TO
SIGN IT.

[Dinging]

Mustard wakes up.

She says, AH.

She checks her phone. The phone shows a ladle in a pot.

Mustard says, I HAVE TO GO HOME FOR LUNCH NOW.

She gives her doll to Pudding. She drops it in the contract folder and leaves.

Cupcake says, ME, TOO.

She gives Pudding her doll and leaves.

Chase says, ME, TOO.

He gives Pudding his doll and runs out of the room.

[Chase panting]

Boris says, ME, TOO.

Boris gives Pudding his doll and turns toward the door. Raisin gives Pudding his doll.

Raisin says, SO LONG, GUYS.

He leaves with Boris. Cookie, Candy, and Pudding watch their friends leave.

Cookie says, PUDDING, THIS IS ALL YOUR
FAULT, BECAUSE YOUR WRITING WAS
WAY TOO SLOW!

He adds his doll to the pile of dolls in the contract folder in Pudding’s paws.

Pudding says, I WROTE THE CONTRACT TO KEEP
US FROM ARGUING.
BUT IT LOOKS LIKE IT DIDN'T WORK
AT ALL!

He dumps the dolls onto the floor. Mommy walks up to the door. She carries a flowerpot with a droopy flower into the room.

Mommy asks, KITTENS, WHY DIDN'T YOU TAKE
OUT THE GARBAGE AND WATER THE
PLANTS?

Candy says, BECAUSE WE HAVEN'T HAD TIME
TO WRITE A CONTRACT ABOUT IT.

Mommy says, LOOK, KITTENS.
NOT EVERYTHING NEEDS A CONTRACT!
JUST IMAGINE IF YOUR DADDY AND I
ONLY OPERATED WITH CONTRACTS.

Cookie, Candy, and Pudding imagine Mommy serving food at the table.

Cookie asks, HEY, MOMMY, WHAT'S FOR
DESSERT?

Mommy says, KITTENS, REMEMBER, ACCORDING
TO THE CONTRACT, DADDY ONLY
BRINGS DESSERT AFTER WE GO FOR A
WALK.

Cookie, Candy, and Pudding say, OH.

In the living room, Cookie, Candy, and Pudding run up to Daddy on the couch. Daddy uses a tablet.

Candy asks, DADDY, LET'S GO FOR A WALK IN
THE PARK.

Daddy says, I CAN'T.
CONTRACT SAYS ONLY MOMMY CAN
TAKE YOU TO THE PARK.
GUESS YOU'RE JUST GOING TO HAVE
TO WAIT 'TIL SHE GETS HOME.

Candy sits on the floor.

[Candy sighing sadly]

In reality, Mommy says, WHEN WE PROMISE SOMETHING, WE
TRY OUR BEST TO MAKE IT HAPPEN.
OTHERWISE, OUR WORD WOULDN'T BE
WORTH MUCH, WOULD IT?

Candy says, I HAVE A REALLY GOOD IDEA!
WE SHOULD MAKE OUR PROMISES
WITHOUT WRITING CONTRACTS, LIKE
GROWN-UPS!

Cookie says, AND WE PROMISE NOT TO BREAK
OUR PROMISES.

He shakes hands with Candy.

Pudding says, WHAT SHOULD WE DO WITH OUR
CONTRACTS?
THERE'S AN AWFUL LOT OF THEM.

He dumps out of the folder and onto the floor.

Mommy says, YOU CAN USE THE PAPER TO MAKE
PROPS AND SCENERY FOR YOUR
THEATRE.
AND I'LL HELP YOU, EVEN WITHOUT
SIGNING A CONTRACT.

Cookie, Candy, and Pudding say, SO AWESOME!

Cookie and Pudding hold Candy’s paws, and they all wiggle their arms.

They cheer, ME-WOW, ME-WOW,
ME-WOW, ME-WOW!

In Cookie, Candy, and Pudding’s bedroom, Mommy sits on the floor with Cookie, Candy, Pudding, Raisin, Mustard, Cupcake, Boris and Chase. They make trees out of the contracts. Candy and Raisin draw the trees. Mommy and Mustard cut the trees out. Pudding and Cupcake paint the trees green. Cookie, Boris and Chase glue the trees upright onto paper.

The narrator says, THE KITTENS SAW THAT YOU
DON'T NEED TO WRITE YOUR
PROMISES DOWN.
THEY DECIDED TO USE THEIR
HEARTS AND HEADS FOR KEEPING
PROMISES AND THEIR PAPER FOR
CRAFTING INSTEAD.
