The singer sings, FRIZZY, GEMMA,
NEVILLE AND POUNCE.
Frizzy, a koala with blue fur, balances sunglasses on her head. Gemma, a platypus, wears goggles strapped over her head. Neville, a wombat, wears a bucket hat. Pounce, a kangaroo, hops over his friends and down a slide. All the friends wear a red and blue uniform.
The singer and others sing, CADETS IN THE CLUB,
SO COME ON, LET'S BOUNCE.
Gemma, Frizzy and Neville follow Pounce down the slide.
The singer sings, GOOD FRIENDS SURFIN'
SWIMMIN', LEARNIN’
Pounce surfs down the slide. Gemma slides down on her stomach. Fizzy follows with her paws in the air. Neville spins down the slide.
He screams, AAH!
Outside, on the Kangaroo Beach dock, he blows a whistle and points to the water.
[Whistle blaring]
The singer sings, BONDI, SANDY,
BIG TREV TOO.
Kangaroos Bondi and Sandy speed across the water on a boat with Pounce. Underwater, Frizzy travels in a submarine with Big Trev, a bearded koala with green fur.
The singer sings, TRAININ' WITH THE VERY BEST
LIFEGUARD CREW.
STAYIN' SAFE, BEING BRAVE,
RIDE A WAVE, MAKE A SAVE.
Gemma rides in a helicopter. The lifeguards and junior cadets return to the beach. The cadets surf a big wave.
The singer sings, WE'RE HERE ALL SUMMER,
IT JUST GETS FUNNER.
LET'S HOP DOWN TO...
A large wave crashes into the lifeguards and cadets on the beach.
The singer sings, …KANGAROO BEACH!
Title, Kangaroo Beach. A splash of water reveals the episode title on the beach.
Pounce reads, DOCTOR WOMBAT.
Text reads, written by Tim Bain. A wave rolls over the sand, revealing a beach alarm clock with surfboard hands.
[Alarm clock ringing]
At Kangaroo Beach lifeguard headquarters, Pounce turns off his alarm clock and hops out of bed.
He says, COME ON, CADETS.
TRAINING TIME!
He hops out of bed.
He says, ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL, SUNSHINY DAY
ON...
[Wind gusting]
Pounce pauses by the window. Gemma joins him. They look outside at leaves and sticks blowing by.
[Gemma gasping]
Pounce says, ...KANGAROO BEACH?
Neville and Frizzy join their friends.
[Big Trev groaning]
Big Trev says, OH, I FEEL SHOCKING.
He sits on the bench with Bondi in front of a large monitor. Standing beside them, Sandy checks Bondi’s temperature.
[Grumbling]
Bondi holds his stomach.
He says, WHAT IS WRONG WITH US?
Sandy says, JUST A LITTLE TUMMY ACHE,
I RECKON.
DID YOU EAT ANYTHING UNUSUAL FOR
BREAKFAST?
Bondi says, ONLY TRIPLE-STACK BLUEBERRY
PANCAKES.
Big Trev says, WITH QUADRUPLE SCOOP CHOC
CHIP ICE CREAM.
[Big Trev groaning]
Sandy says, OH, WELL, HEAD DOWN TO THE
MEDIC BAY AND REST UP, YOU TWO.
[Bondi and Big Trev groaning]
Big Trev follows Bondi through the building.
Sandy says, BAD NEWS, CADETS.
TODAY'S TRAINING IS A LITTLE BIT
CANCELLED.
The junior cadets sigh, AW.
Pounce says, WELL, WHAT'S THE GOOD NEWS?
Sandy says, YOU WANT GOOD NEWS TOO?
FAIR ENOUGH.
UH, YOU CAN HAVE FREE TIME.
The cadets cheer, YAY!
Pounce says, LET'S GO OUTSIDE!
Neville says, OUT THERE?
He points outside where leaves continue to blow in the wind.
[Wind gusting]
Neville says, IT LOOKS A BIT YUCKY.
[Bondi and Big Trev groaning]
Bondi groans, OH, TREV.
[Passing gas]
Gemma says, UGH, NOT AS YUCKY AS IT IS IN
HERE.
[Frizzy laughing]
Frizzy says, LET'S GO, CADETS.
GET BETTER, GRANDPA!
[Bondi and Big Trev groaning]
The cadets leave. Outside, kites glide through the air.
Frizzy says, PERFECT WEATHER FOR KITES!
On Kangaroo Beach, Gemma and Frizzy fly kites. Pounce hops around excitedly. Neville looks worried.
Gemma says, HERE, NEVILLE, HAVE A GO!
She passes Neville the handle of her kite.
Neville says, I'M NOT SURE I…
The wind on the kite lifts him off the ground.
Neville wails, WHOA!
SLOW DOWN!
He stumbles across the beach and past Frizzy.
Frizzy yells, NEVILLE!
YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO FLY THE KITE,
NOT LET THE KITE FLY YOU!
Neville yells, WHOA!
He lets go of the kite as he stumbles into a changing hut.
[Neville grunting]
[Crashing]
Beach toys fall out of the hut.
Frizzy says, OH, MY STARFISH!
She passes Pounce her kite and grabs her two way radio.
Through the radio, she says, EMERGENCY!
Gemma and Frizzy rush over to Neville. From the lifeguard headquarters, Sandy drives the rescue golf cart.
She says, DID SOMEONE CALL AN
AMBULANCE?
AND BY AMBULANCE, I DO MEAN
BEACH BUGGY.
She hops over to the changing huts, where Pounce and Gemma help Neville, trapped in an inflatable tube with a bucket on his foot.
[Neville groaning]
Sandy says, NEV, ARE YOU OKAY?
DOES ANYTHING HURT?
She pulls the tube off Neville.
Neville says, I'M FINE.
Sandy says, GOOD, BUT LET'S GIVE YOU A
CHECKUP BACK AT THE HOSPITAL.
She takes Neville’s hand.
Gemma says, SHE MEANS SURF CLUB.
[Sandy imitating a siren]
Neville rides in the back of the golf cart.
He says, I FIGURED.
Sandy drives away.
[Sandy imitating a siren]
Later, in the medic bay at the lifeguard headquarters, Sandy puts a bandage on Neville’s nose.
She says, HE'S OKAY.
Pounce says, GREAT!
LET'S GET BACK OUTSIDE.
Neville says, NAH.
I LIKE COLD WEATHER EVEN LESS
THAN HOT WEATHER.
I'LL SNUGGLE UP IN HERE WITH A
GOOD BOOK.
He grabs a medical book from the shelf behind him. A picture on the back of the book shows a wombat.
Neville says, THE COMPLETE MEDICAL MANUAL OF
ILLNESS AND INJURY.
He opens the book.
Pounce says, OH, COME ON, NEV.
A GREAT LIFEGUARD NEEDS TO
HANDLE ALL SORTS OF WEATHER
OUTSIDE, NOT HUDDLE INSIDE.
Neville says, REALLY?
Frizzy says, IT'S FINE, NEVILLE.
YOU DO YOU.
BYE!
Gemma says, I HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER,
NEVILLE.
She runs after Frizzy and Pounce. Neville reads the medical manual.
He says, OOH.
"HOW TO TREAT BRUISES AND
SCRAPES."
FASCINATING.
Back outside, Pounce, Gemma and Frizzy run down the beach as leaves blow in the wind.
[All giggling]
Gherkinn calls out, YOO-HOO, CADETLETS!
A kite pulls him across the water on a surfboard. He wears a life vest and helmet.
[Splashing]
Frizzy cheers, WHOO HOO!
[Gherkinn laughing]
Pounce says, WHOA, GHERKINN, WHAT SORT OF
KITE FLYING IS THAT?
Gherkinn rides his surfboard onto the beach.
[Gherkinn sighing]
Gherkinn says, IT IS THE SURFING OF THE
KITE, MY FAVOURITE CRAZY SPORT
GAME.
Pounce says, KITE FLYING PLUS SURFING?
SWEET!
WILL YOU TEACH ME?
He puts on a helmet.
Gherkinn says, WELL, WHY NOT?
He clips a belt connected to the kite around Pounce’s life vest.
Gherkinn says, CLIP THIS ON.
NOW LISTEN CAREFULLY.
THERE ARE A LOT OF INSTRUCTIONS.
Pounce sticks his feet through straps on the surfboard. A gust of wind lifts him off the beach.
Pounce cheers, WHOO-HOO!
Gherkinn yells, AH!
Pounce splashes onto the water.
Frizzy says, AMAZING!
Gemma cheers, GO, POUNCE!
[Frizzy and Gemma cheering]
Gherkinn says, WAIT!
COME BACK!
He chases after Pounce. At the lifeguard headquarters, Neville continues reading the medical manual.
He says, WHAT A PAGE-TURNER.
Nearby, Bondi groans, OH, I GIVE UP.
He sits on a bench beside Big Trev. They both hold their stomachs.
[Bondi and Big Trev groaning]
Neville closes the medical manual.
Big Trev groans, I JUST WANT TO CURL UP TILL
CHRISTMAS.
Neville says, MAYBE A NICE CUP OF GINGER
TEA WILL HELP SOOTHE YOUR
SYMPTOMS.
He brings a tray with cups of steaming hot tea to Bondi and Big Trev.
Bondi says, OH, THANKS, NEVILLE, BUT...
[Bondi groaning]
Big Trev says, I'M NOT SURE A CUP OF TEA IS
GONNA –
He sips from a cup of tea.
[Slurping]
Big Trev says, HMM.
OH, THAT'S, THAT'S NICE,
ACTUALLY, YEAH.
Bondi tries the tea.
[Slurping]
Bondi says, GINGER, YOU SAY?
Neville says, SECRET INGREDIENT.
He winks. On the beach, Sandy stands in a lifeguard look out with a megaphone. Philippa runs by with her bird friend Sammy.
[Philippa yelling]
Ferdinand says, WHOA, LOOK OUT.
A beachgoer’s book blows past the lookout, followed by a beach umbrella.
Sandy announces, ATTENTION, BEACHGOERS.
IT'S GETTING A BIT BLOWY.
HOLD ON TO YOUR THINGS,
OR SOMEONE COULD GET HURT.
A beachball hits Sandy.
Sandy says, HMM, AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE.
[Frizzy and Gemma giggling]
Sandy calls out, GEMMA, FRIZZY.
Gemma and Frizzy look up at Sandy.
Sandy asks, COULD YOU LEND A PAW?
BIT OF A BUSY DAY ON PATROL.
Gemma says, SURE THING.
Frizzy says, YOU GOT IT!
Beside the lifeguard lookout, a gust of wind pulls a surfboard out of the sand and hits a purple haired koala.
[Koala grunting]
[Koala groaning]
Gemma runs up to the Koala. She talks through her two way radio.
She says, SANDY.
Elsewhere on the beach, Frizzy spots Philippa and Sammy on a hill.
[Giggling]
[Wind gusting]
A gust of wind knocks over Philippa and her friend. They roll down the hill.
They say, WOAH.
Frizzy says, OH, NO!
She runs to the hill as Philippa and her friend tumble to the bottom and into a wagon, then roll away.
Frizzy yells, SAMMY, PHILIPPA, COME BACK!
She runs after Sammy and Philippa.
[Sammy and Philippa yelping]
The wagon hits a bump in the sand. Sammy and Philippa are thrown out and fall in a hole in the sand.
[Sammy and Philippa babbling]
Frizzy runs up to the hole.
Sammy says, HELP ME LIFEGUARDS.
Frizzy talks into her radio.
She says, SANDY!
Beside her, Reef says, COME BACK, FLYING HAT!
She chases after her hat as a gust of wind blows it across the beach.
Reef groans, AH!
She follows it onto the nearby dock as it blows away, and stumbles toward the edge.
Reef grunts, WHOA!
She falls off the dock.
[Reef grunting]
Roadie runs onto the dock.
He says, REEF, ARE YOU OKAY?
Reef says, I CAN'T FEEL MY TOES.
Roadie says, YOU DON'T HAVE TOES.
Reef says, HUH.
WELL, THAT'S LUCKY.
Gemma runs onto the dock with her radio.
Through the radio, she says, SANDY!
Later, at the lifeguard headquarters, Sandy helps the purple haired koala to a bench in the medic bay.
[Koala groaning]
Sandy says, TAKE A SEAT.
BACK IN A JIFFY.
The purple haired koala takes a seat beside Neville, who reads the medical manual. Bondi and Big Trev sit on the other bench with their ginger tea.
Neville says, HI, SID.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Sid, the purple haired koala rubs his head.
He says, OH, A BUMP ON MY NOGGIN.
Neville says, OUCH.
THAT SOUNDS AWFUL.
He checks the medical manual.
He says, HMM.
Neville puts down the book and hops off the bench.
He says, OH, LET ME GET YOU SOME ICE FOR
THAT!
Sid says, THANKS, NEVILLE.
Neville walks away, leaving the manual behind, as Sandy guides Philippa and Sammy toward the bench.
[Sammy and Philippa cooing]
Sandy says, STAY THERE, LITTLE ONES.
I'LL BE BACK IN A MOMENT.
She lifts Sammy and Philippa onto the bench. Neville walks over to them as Sandy leaves.
He says, YOU LOOK A BIT DIZZY.
HOW MANY FINGERS AM I HOLDING
UP?
He holds up three fingers.
Sammy says, TWENTY-THREE.
[Philippa giggling]
Neville says, NO, REALLY.
Sammy says, THREE.
[Sammy and Philippa giggling]
Neville says, WELL DONE.
HERE.
He holds out a jar of lollipops. Sammy and Philippa each take one.
Sammy says, OH.
Phillips says, OOH.
[Reef groaning]
Sandy helps Reef into the medic bay. Roadie follows them in. Reef takes a seat beside Sammy.
Neville asks, WHERE DOES IT HURT?
Reef says, HERE, HERE, AND HERE.
She points to her nose, chin and tail.
She asks, DO I GET THREE LOLLIPOPS?
Neville says, WELL...
Roadie says, I HURT EVERYWHERE.
THAT MEANS I GET ALL OF THEM!
He struggles to reach inside the jar of lollipops. He sticks his nose in.
[Roadie slurping]
Roadie shoves his nose further into the jar.
He yelps, AH!
I'M STUCK!
Outside, Pounce glides across the water on Gherkinn’s kite surfing board.
He cheers, YEAH!
WHOO-HOO!
THIS IS AMAZING!
Gherkinn watches from the Kangaroo Beach dock.
Pounce asks, CAN I DO JUMPS ON THIS THING?
Gherkinn says, OH, YEAH.
AFTER MANY HOURS OF PRACTICE.
Pounce cheers, WHOO-HOO!
He jumps off the water with the surfboard.
[Splashing]
Gherkinn says, BE CAREFUL, CADETTA-LETTA!
In lifeguard headquarters, Ferdinand walks into the medic bay alongside Sandy with a fishing hook caught in his feathers.
Ferdinand says, I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED.
I WENT FOR A FISH AND CAUGHT A
KOOKABURRA.
[Ferdinand laughing]
Sandy says, I'LL TAKE A LOOK AT YOU JUST
AFTER I ATTEND TO EVERYONE…UH…
She looks toward the benches.
She says, ...ELSE.
[Sammy and Philippa giggling]
Sandy smiles as she looks at all the injured beachgoers recovering on the benches while Neville pulls lollipops off Roadie.
Roadie yelps, OW!
OW!
OW!
Neville says, THERE, ALL DONE.
Roadie asks, DO I GET A LOLLIPOP?
Neville says, PROBABLY SAFER IF I GIVE YOU
A STICKER.
He puts a sticker on Roadie. Gemma and Frizzy run into the medic bay.
[Gemma and Frizzy giggling]
Gemma says, WE'VE CLEARED THE BEACH,
SANDY.
Sandy says, WELL DONE, YOU TWO.
GREAT LIFEGUARDING.
Frizzy says, THANK YOU!
Gemma says, THANKS, SANDY.
She and Frizzy leave the bay.
[Philippa and Sammy giggling]
Sandy checks on Sid, who holds an ice pack to his head.
[Neville sighing sadly]
Reef asks, WHAT'S WRONG?
Neville says, I SHOULD HAVE BEEN OUT THERE
HELPING.
I'VE LET THE TEAM DOWN.
Reef says, CHEER UP.
YOU NEED A STICKER.
HERE, HAVE THIS ONE.
He takes Roadie’s sticker.
Roadie says, OW!
Reef puts Roadie’s sticker on Neville. Outside, Pounce continues kite surfing across the waves.
He cheers, WHOO!
TIME FOR A JUMBO JUMP.
On the dock, Gherkinn shouts, NO, CADETTA-LET!
THIS IS NOT A CLEVER, SMART
IDEA!
Pounce surfs toward an island in the distance.
He says, HERE COMES THE FLYING
KANGAROO!
He leaps off a wave.
He says, OH, NO!
With the kite, Pounce flies toward a rock arch on the island.
He yells, WHOA!
The kite’s rope catches on the arch. The surfboard falls off Pounce’s feet, and he dangles of the arch.
Pounce says, NOT-SO-JUMPING JOEY.
He waves his arms and kicks his feet.
He yells, HELP!
HELP!
From lifeguard headquarters, Sandy watches him through a pair of binoculars.
She says, OH, POOR POUNCE.
OKAY, I'LL NEED SOMEONE TO COME
WITH ME.
Sandy turns to face Neville, Frizzy and Gemma.
She says, NEVILLE! YOU'RE PERFECT FOR THIS
RESCUE.
Neville says, ME?
REALLY?
Frizzy and Gemma say, WOMBAT TO THE RESCUE!
[Alarm blaring]
[Upbeat music plays]
In a montage, the Kangaroo Beach lifeguards prepare for rescue with radios, first aid kits, and rescue boards. The travel in their rescue vehicles, a helicopter, boat, submarine and golf cart. The junior cadets gather, ready for action, and pose.
In the rescue boat with Sandy, Neville asks, WHY DID YOU PICK ME?
FRIZZY AND GEMMA HAVE BEEN DOING
A MUCH BETTER JOB KEEPING THE
BEACH SAFE.
Sandy says, ARE YOU KIDDING?
YOU'VE BEEN CRUSHING IT.
Neville says, I HAVE?
Sandy says, BIG TIME.
KEEPING THE PATIENTS CALM.
LOOKING AFTER THEIR INJURIES.
THAT'S A BIG PART OF
LIFEGUARDING.
Neville smiles.
Pounce yells, HELP!
[Neville gasping]
Neville says, THERE HE IS.
Pounce wails, HELP, I'M STUCK.
Sandy and Neville cruise up to the rock arch.
Sandy says, WHOA, POUNCE, WHAT A
PICKLE.
Pounce says, GET ME DOWN!
Sandy says, WE'RE GONNA NEED BIG TREV AND
THE CHOPPER, AND BONDI ON THE
WINCH.
Neville says, ACTUALLY, LET THEM REST.
WE'VE GOT THIS.
He looks up at Pounce.
He shouts, POUNCE, LISTEN, TRY TO REMAIN
CALM.
Pounce says, OKAY.
Neville says, THAT'S IT.
NOW, HANG ON TO THE ROPE WITH
ONE PAW AND UNCLIP YOURSELF
WITH THE OTHER.
Pounce unclips the kite’s rope from the belt. He dangles from the rope.
[Pounce grunting]
Neville says, GREAT!
NOW, JUMP DOWN INTO THE BOAT.
Pounce says, I'M NOT SURE I CAN!
Neville says, OF COURSE YOU CAN!
YOU'RE MADE FOR JUMPING!
Pounce says, OKAY, HERE I COME.
[Pounce gasping]
Pounce lets go of the rope. He falls, landing on the rescue boat.
[Pounce grunting]
Pounce stumbles to the back of the boat.
[Pounce yelping]
Neville asks, ARE YOU OKAY?
Pounce says, MY ARM'S A BIT SORE FROM ALL
THAT DANGLING.
Neville asks, CAN YOU DO A WAVE LIKE THIS?
He raises and lowers his arm. Pounce does the same.
Neville says, AND WAGGLE YOUR FINGERS?
He and Pounce wiggle their fingers.
Neville says, NOW RUB YOUR TUMMY AND PAT YOUR
HEAD AT THE SAME TIME.
He and Pounce rub their tummies and pat their heads.
Pounce asks, WHY'D YOU MAKE ME DO THAT
LAST BIT?
Neville says, JUST MESSING WITH YOU.
[All laughing]
Sandy says, I'M GLAD YOU'RE OKAY, POUNCE.
BUT YOU'VE GOT TO BE CAREFUL
WHEN YOU TRY NEW THINGS.
OVERCONFIDENCE CAN LAND YOU IN
BIG TROUBLE.
Pounce says, SORRY.
Sandy says, NOW, WELL DONE, NEV.
YOU'VE EARNED ONE OF THESE BAD
BOYS.
She gives Neville a medal.
She says, FOR FIRST AID.
Pounce says, WELL DESERVED, NEVILLE.
YOU'RE A GREAT LIFEGUARD,
INSIDE AND OUT.
Back in the medic bay, Sandy faces the resting beachgoers.
She says, ALL RIGHT, FOLKS, YOU'RE ALL
GOOD.
NOW GO HOME, THE LOT OF YOU.
Neville says, WAIT!
FIRST, \THEY NEED THEIR
SPECIAL MEDICINE.
He wears a stereoscope.
Sandy says, UH, WHAT MEDICINE?
Neville says, HOT CHOCOLATE AND GRASS
MALLOWS.
Pounce brings a tray of hot drinks to the beachgoers.
[Laughing]
Big Trev takes a drink of his hot chocolate.
[Slurping]
Bondi says, OH, VERY NICE.
The other beachgoers enjoy the hot drink.
Reef says, THANKS, DR. WOMBAT.
HOORAY!
Pounce cheers, YEAH!
[Cheering]
[Sandy applauding]
Neville takes a bow.
[Chuckling]

Text reads, written by Tim Bain. A wave rolls over the sand, revealing a beach alarm clock with surfboard hands.
[Alarm clock ringing]
At Kangaroo Beach lifeguard headquarters, Pounce turns off his alarm clock and hops out of bed.
He says, COME ON, CADETS.
TRAINING TIME!
He hops out of bed.
He says, ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL, SUNSHINY DAY
ON...
[Wind gusting]
Pounce pauses by the window. Gemma joins him. They look outside at leaves and sticks blowing by.
[Gemma gasping]
Pounce says, ...KANGAROO BEACH?
Neville and Frizzy join their friends.
[Big Trev groaning]
Big Trev says, OH, I FEEL SHOCKING.
He sits on the bench with Bondi in front of a large monitor. Standing beside them, Sandy checks Bondi’s temperature.
[Grumbling]
Bondi holds his stomach.
He says, WHAT IS WRONG WITH US?
Sandy says, JUST A LITTLE TUMMY ACHE,
I RECKON.
DID YOU EAT ANYTHING UNUSUAL FOR
BREAKFAST?
Bondi says, ONLY TRIPLE-STACK BLUEBERRY
PANCAKES.
Big Trev says, WITH QUADRUPLE SCOOP CHOC
CHIP ICE CREAM.
[Big Trev groaning]
Sandy says, OH, WELL, HEAD DOWN TO THE
MEDIC BAY AND REST UP, YOU TWO.
[Bondi and Big Trev groaning]
Big Trev follows Bondi through the building.
Sandy says, BAD NEWS, CADETS.
TODAY'S TRAINING IS A LITTLE BIT
CANCELLED.
The junior cadets sigh, AW.
Pounce says, WELL, WHAT'S THE GOOD NEWS?
Sandy says, YOU WANT GOOD NEWS TOO?
FAIR ENOUGH.
UH, YOU CAN HAVE FREE TIME.
The cadets cheer, YAY!
Pounce says, LET'S GO OUTSIDE!
Neville says, OUT THERE?
He points outside where leaves continue to blow in the wind.
[Wind gusting]
Neville says, IT LOOKS A BIT YUCKY.
[Bondi and Big Trev groaning]
Bondi groans, OH, TREV.
[Passing gas]
Gemma says, UGH, NOT AS YUCKY AS IT IS IN
HERE.
[Frizzy laughing]
Frizzy says, LET'S GO, CADETS.
GET BETTER, GRANDPA!
[Bondi and Big Trev groaning]
The cadets leave. Outside, kites glide through the air.
Frizzy says, PERFECT WEATHER FOR KITES!
On Kangaroo Beach, Gemma and Frizzy fly kites. Pounce hops around excitedly. Neville looks worried.
Gemma says, HERE, NEVILLE, HAVE A GO!
She passes Neville the handle of her kite.
Neville says, I'M NOT SURE I…
The wind on the kite lifts him off the ground.
Neville wails, WHOA!
SLOW DOWN!
He stumbles across the beach and past Frizzy.
Frizzy yells, NEVILLE!
YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO FLY THE KITE,
NOT LET THE KITE FLY YOU!
Neville yells, WHOA!
He lets go of the kite as he stumbles into a changing hut.
[Neville grunting]
[Crashing]
Beach toys fall out of the hut.
Frizzy says, OH, MY STARFISH!
She passes Pounce her kite and grabs her two way radio.
Through the radio, she says, EMERGENCY!
Gemma and Frizzy rush over to Neville. From the lifeguard headquarters, Sandy drives the rescue golf cart.
She says, DID SOMEONE CALL AN
AMBULANCE?
AND BY AMBULANCE, I DO MEAN
BEACH BUGGY.
She hops over to the changing huts, where Pounce and Gemma help Neville, trapped in an inflatable tube with a bucket on his foot.
[Neville groaning]
Sandy says, NEV, ARE YOU OKAY?
DOES ANYTHING HURT?
She pulls the tube off Neville.
Neville says, I'M FINE.
Sandy says, GOOD, BUT LET'S GIVE YOU A
CHECKUP BACK AT THE HOSPITAL.
She takes Neville’s hand.
Gemma says, SHE MEANS SURF CLUB.
[Sandy imitating a siren]
Neville rides in the back of the golf cart.
He says, I FIGURED.
Sandy drives away.
[Sandy imitating a siren]
Later, in the medic bay at the lifeguard headquarters, Sandy puts a bandage on Neville’s nose.
She says, HE'S OKAY.
Pounce says, GREAT!
LET'S GET BACK OUTSIDE.
Neville says, NAH.
I LIKE COLD WEATHER EVEN LESS
THAN HOT WEATHER.
I'LL SNUGGLE UP IN HERE WITH A
GOOD BOOK.
He grabs a medical book from the shelf behind him. A picture on the back of the book shows a wombat.
Neville says, THE COMPLETE MEDICAL MANUAL OF
ILLNESS AND INJURY.
He opens the book.
Pounce says, OH, COME ON, NEV.
A GREAT LIFEGUARD NEEDS TO
HANDLE ALL SORTS OF WEATHER
OUTSIDE, NOT HUDDLE INSIDE.
Neville says, REALLY?
Frizzy says, IT'S FINE, NEVILLE.
YOU DO YOU.
BYE!
Gemma says, I HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER,
NEVILLE.
She runs after Frizzy and Pounce. Neville reads the medical manual.
He says, OOH.
"HOW TO TREAT BRUISES AND
SCRAPES."
FASCINATING.
Back outside, Pounce, Gemma and Frizzy run down the beach as leaves blow in the wind.
[All giggling]
Gherkinn calls out, YOO-HOO, CADETLETS!
A kite pulls him across the water on a surfboard. He wears a life vest and helmet.
[Splashing]
Frizzy cheers, WHOO HOO!
[Gherkinn laughing]
Pounce says, WHOA, GHERKINN, WHAT SORT OF
KITE FLYING IS THAT?
Gherkinn rides his surfboard onto the beach.
[Gherkinn sighing]
Gherkinn says, IT IS THE SURFING OF THE
KITE, MY FAVOURITE CRAZY SPORT
GAME.
Pounce says, KITE FLYING PLUS SURFING?
SWEET!
WILL YOU TEACH ME?
He puts on a helmet.
Gherkinn says, WELL, WHY NOT?
He clips a belt connected to the kite around Pounce’s life vest.
Gherkinn says, CLIP THIS ON.
NOW LISTEN CAREFULLY.
THERE ARE A LOT OF INSTRUCTIONS.
Pounce sticks his feet through straps on the surfboard. A gust of wind lifts him off the beach.
Pounce cheers, WHOO-HOO!
Gherkinn yells, AH!
Pounce splashes onto the water.
Frizzy says, AMAZING!
Gemma cheers, GO, POUNCE!
[Frizzy and Gemma cheering]
Gherkinn says, WAIT!
COME BACK!
He chases after Pounce. At the lifeguard headquarters, Neville continues reading the medical manual.
He says, WHAT A PAGE-TURNER.
Nearby, Bondi groans, OH, I GIVE UP.
He sits on a bench beside Big Trev. They both hold their stomachs.
[Bondi and Big Trev groaning]
Neville closes the medical manual.
Big Trev groans, I JUST WANT TO CURL UP TILL
CHRISTMAS.
Neville says, MAYBE A NICE CUP OF GINGER
TEA WILL HELP SOOTHE YOUR
SYMPTOMS.
He brings a tray with cups of steaming hot tea to Bondi and Big Trev.
Bondi says, OH, THANKS, NEVILLE, BUT...
[Bondi groaning]
Big Trev says, I'M NOT SURE A CUP OF TEA IS
GONNA –
He sips from a cup of tea.
[Slurping]
Big Trev says, HMM.
OH, THAT'S, THAT'S NICE,
ACTUALLY, YEAH.
Bondi tries the tea.
[Slurping]
Bondi says, GINGER, YOU SAY?
Neville says, SECRET INGREDIENT.
He winks. On the beach, Sandy stands in a lifeguard look out with a megaphone. Philippa runs by with her bird friend Sammy.
[Philippa yelling]
Ferdinand says, WHOA, LOOK OUT.
A beachgoer’s book blows past the lookout, followed by a beach umbrella.
Sandy announces, ATTENTION, BEACHGOERS.
IT'S GETTING A BIT BLOWY.
HOLD ON TO YOUR THINGS,
OR SOMEONE COULD GET HURT.
A beachball hits Sandy.
Sandy says, HMM, AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE.
[Frizzy and Gemma giggling]
Sandy calls out, GEMMA, FRIZZY.
Gemma and Frizzy look up at Sandy.
Sandy asks, COULD YOU LEND A PAW?
BIT OF A BUSY DAY ON PATROL.
Gemma says, SURE THING.
Frizzy says, YOU GOT IT!
Beside the lifeguard lookout, a gust of wind pulls a surfboard out of the sand and hits a purple haired koala.
[Koala grunting]
[Koala groaning]
Gemma runs up to the Koala. She talks through her two way radio.
She says, SANDY.
Elsewhere on the beach, Frizzy spots Philippa and Sammy on a hill.
[Giggling]
[Wind gusting]
A gust of wind knocks over Philippa and her friend. They roll down the hill.
They say, WOAH.
Frizzy says, OH, NO!
She runs to the hill as Philippa and her friend tumble to the bottom and into a wagon, then roll away.
Frizzy yells, SAMMY, PHILIPPA, COME BACK!
She runs after Sammy and Philippa.
[Sammy and Philippa yelping]
The wagon hits a bump in the sand. Sammy and Philippa are thrown out and fall in a hole in the sand.
[Sammy and Philippa babbling]
Frizzy runs up to the hole.
Sammy says, HELP ME LIFEGUARDS.
Frizzy talks into her radio.
She says, SANDY!
Beside her, Reef says, COME BACK, FLYING HAT!
She chases after her hat as a gust of wind blows it across the beach.
Reef groans, AH!
She follows it onto the nearby dock as it blows away, and stumbles toward the edge.
Reef grunts, WHOA!
She falls off the dock.
[Reef grunting]
Roadie runs onto the dock.
He says, REEF, ARE YOU OKAY?
Reef says, I CAN'T FEEL MY TOES.
Roadie says, YOU DON'T HAVE TOES.
Reef says, HUH.
WELL, THAT'S LUCKY.
Gemma runs onto the dock with her radio.
Through the radio, she says, SANDY!
Later, at the lifeguard headquarters, Sandy helps the purple haired koala to a bench in the medic bay.
[Koala groaning]
Sandy says, TAKE A SEAT.
BACK IN A JIFFY.
The purple haired koala takes a seat beside Neville, who reads the medical manual. Bondi and Big Trev sit on the other bench with their ginger tea.
Neville says, HI, SID.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Sid, the purple haired koala rubs his head.
He says, OH, A BUMP ON MY NOGGIN.
Neville says, OUCH.
THAT SOUNDS AWFUL.
He checks the medical manual.
He says, HMM.
Neville puts down the book and hops off the bench.
He says, OH, LET ME GET YOU SOME ICE FOR
THAT!
Sid says, THANKS, NEVILLE.
Neville walks away, leaving the manual behind, as Sandy guides Philippa and Sammy toward the bench.
[Sammy and Philippa cooing]
Sandy says, STAY THERE, LITTLE ONES.
I'LL BE BACK IN A MOMENT.
She lifts Sammy and Philippa onto the bench. Neville walks over to them as Sandy leaves.
He says, YOU LOOK A BIT DIZZY.
HOW MANY FINGERS AM I HOLDING
UP?
He holds up three fingers.
Sammy says, TWENTY-THREE.
[Philippa giggling]
Neville says, NO, REALLY.
Sammy says, THREE.
[Sammy and Philippa giggling]
Neville says, WELL DONE.
HERE.
He holds out a jar of lollipops. Sammy and Philippa each take one.
Sammy says, OH.
Phillips says, OOH.
[Reef groaning]
Sandy helps Reef into the medic bay. Roadie follows them in. Reef takes a seat beside Sammy.
Neville asks, WHERE DOES IT HURT?
Reef says, HERE, HERE, AND HERE.
She points to her nose, chin and tail.
She asks, DO I GET THREE LOLLIPOPS?
Neville says, WELL...
Roadie says, I HURT EVERYWHERE.
THAT MEANS I GET ALL OF THEM!
He struggles to reach inside the jar of lollipops. He sticks his nose in.
[Roadie slurping]
Roadie shoves his nose further into the jar.
He yelps, AH!
I'M STUCK!
Outside, Pounce glides across the water on Gherkinn’s kite surfing board.
He cheers, YEAH!
WHOO-HOO!
THIS IS AMAZING!
Gherkinn watches from the Kangaroo Beach dock.
Pounce asks, CAN I DO JUMPS ON THIS THING?
Gherkinn says, OH, YEAH.
AFTER MANY HOURS OF PRACTICE.
Pounce cheers, WHOO-HOO!
He jumps off the water with the surfboard.
[Splashing]
Gherkinn says, BE CAREFUL, CADETTA-LETTA!
In lifeguard headquarters, Ferdinand walks into the medic bay alongside Sandy with a fishing hook caught in his feathers.
Ferdinand says, I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED.
I WENT FOR A FISH AND CAUGHT A
KOOKABURRA.
[Ferdinand laughing]
Sandy says, I'LL TAKE A LOOK AT YOU JUST
AFTER I ATTEND TO EVERYONE…UH…
She looks toward the benches.
She says, ...ELSE.
[Sammy and Philippa giggling]
Sandy smiles as she looks at all the injured beachgoers recovering on the benches while Neville pulls lollipops off Roadie.
Roadie yelps, OW!
OW!
OW!
Neville says, THERE, ALL DONE.
Roadie asks, DO I GET A LOLLIPOP?
Neville says, PROBABLY SAFER IF I GIVE YOU
A STICKER.
He puts a sticker on Roadie. Gemma and Frizzy run into the medic bay.
[Gemma and Frizzy giggling]
Gemma says, WE'VE CLEARED THE BEACH,
SANDY.
Sandy says, WELL DONE, YOU TWO.
GREAT LIFEGUARDING.
Frizzy says, THANK YOU!
Gemma says, THANKS, SANDY.
She and Frizzy leave the bay.
[Philippa and Sammy giggling]
Sandy checks on Sid, who holds an ice pack to his head.
[Neville sighing sadly]
Reef asks, WHAT'S WRONG?
Neville says, I SHOULD HAVE BEEN OUT THERE
HELPING.
I'VE LET THE TEAM DOWN.
Reef says, CHEER UP.
YOU NEED A STICKER.
HERE, HAVE THIS ONE.
He takes Roadie’s sticker.
Roadie says, OW!
Reef puts Roadie’s sticker on Neville. Outside, Pounce continues kite surfing across the waves.
He cheers, WHOO!
TIME FOR A JUMBO JUMP.
On the dock, Gherkinn shouts, NO, CADETTA-LET!
THIS IS NOT A CLEVER, SMART
IDEA!
Pounce surfs toward an island in the distance.
He says, HERE COMES THE FLYING
KANGAROO!
He leaps off a wave.
He says, OH, NO!
With the kite, Pounce flies toward a rock arch on the island.
He yells, WHOA!
The kite’s rope catches on the arch. The surfboard falls off Pounce’s feet, and he dangles of the arch.
Pounce says, NOT-SO-JUMPING JOEY.
He waves his arms and kicks his feet.
He yells, HELP!
HELP!
From lifeguard headquarters, Sandy watches him through a pair of binoculars.
She says, OH, POOR POUNCE.
OKAY, I'LL NEED SOMEONE TO COME
WITH ME.
Sandy turns to face Neville, Frizzy and Gemma.
She says, NEVILLE! YOU'RE PERFECT FOR THIS
RESCUE.
Neville says, ME?
REALLY?
Frizzy and Gemma say, WOMBAT TO THE RESCUE!
[Alarm blaring]
[Upbeat music plays]
In a montage, the Kangaroo Beach lifeguards prepare for rescue with radios, first aid kits, and rescue boards. The travel in their rescue vehicles, a helicopter, boat, submarine and golf cart. The junior cadets gather, ready for action, and pose.
In the rescue boat with Sandy, Neville asks, WHY DID YOU PICK ME?
FRIZZY AND GEMMA HAVE BEEN DOING
A MUCH BETTER JOB KEEPING THE
BEACH SAFE.
Sandy says, ARE YOU KIDDING?
YOU'VE BEEN CRUSHING IT.
Neville says, I HAVE?
Sandy says, BIG TIME.
KEEPING THE PATIENTS CALM.
LOOKING AFTER THEIR INJURIES.
THAT'S A BIG PART OF
LIFEGUARDING.
Neville smiles.
Pounce yells, HELP!
[Neville gasping]
Neville says, THERE HE IS.
Pounce wails, HELP, I'M STUCK.
Sandy and Neville cruise up to the rock arch.
Sandy says, WHOA, POUNCE, WHAT A
PICKLE.
Pounce says, GET ME DOWN!
Sandy says, WE'RE GONNA NEED BIG TREV AND
THE CHOPPER, AND BONDI ON THE
WINCH.
Neville says, ACTUALLY, LET THEM REST.
WE'VE GOT THIS.
He looks up at Pounce.
He shouts, POUNCE, LISTEN, TRY TO REMAIN
CALM.
Pounce says, OKAY.
Neville says, THAT'S IT.
NOW, HANG ON TO THE ROPE WITH
ONE PAW AND UNCLIP YOURSELF
WITH THE OTHER.
Pounce unclips the kite’s rope from the belt. He dangles from the rope.
[Pounce grunting]
Neville says, GREAT!
NOW, JUMP DOWN INTO THE BOAT.
Pounce says, I'M NOT SURE I CAN!
Neville says, OF COURSE YOU CAN!
YOU'RE MADE FOR JUMPING!
Pounce says, OKAY, HERE I COME.
[Pounce gasping]
Pounce lets go of the rope. He falls, landing on the rescue boat.
[Pounce grunting]
Pounce stumbles to the back of the boat.
[Pounce yelping]
Neville asks, ARE YOU OKAY?
Pounce says, MY ARM'S A BIT SORE FROM ALL
THAT DANGLING.
Neville asks, CAN YOU DO A WAVE LIKE THIS?
He raises and lowers his arm. Pounce does the same.
Neville says, AND WAGGLE YOUR FINGERS?
He and Pounce wiggle their fingers.
Neville says, NOW RUB YOUR TUMMY AND PAT YOUR
HEAD AT THE SAME TIME.
He and Pounce rub their tummies and pat their heads.
Pounce asks, WHY'D YOU MAKE ME DO THAT
LAST BIT?
Neville says, JUST MESSING WITH YOU.
[All laughing]
Sandy says, I'M GLAD YOU'RE OKAY, POUNCE.
BUT YOU'VE GOT TO BE CAREFUL
WHEN YOU TRY NEW THINGS.
OVERCONFIDENCE CAN LAND YOU IN
BIG TROUBLE.
Pounce says, SORRY.
Sandy says, NOW, WELL DONE, NEV.
YOU'VE EARNED ONE OF THESE BAD
BOYS.
She gives Neville a medal.
She says, FOR FIRST AID.
Pounce says, WELL DESERVED, NEVILLE.
YOU'RE A GREAT LIFEGUARD,
INSIDE AND OUT.
Back in the medic bay, Sandy faces the resting beachgoers.
She says, ALL RIGHT, FOLKS, YOU'RE ALL
GOOD.
NOW GO HOME, THE LOT OF YOU.
Neville says, WAIT!
FIRST, \THEY NEED THEIR
SPECIAL MEDICINE.
He wears a stereoscope.
Sandy says, UH, WHAT MEDICINE?
Neville says, HOT CHOCOLATE AND GRASS
MALLOWS.
Pounce brings a tray of hot drinks to the beachgoers.
[Laughing]
Big Trev takes a drink of his hot chocolate.
[Slurping]
Bondi says, OH, VERY NICE.
The other beachgoers enjoy the hot drink.
Reef says, THANKS, DR. WOMBAT.
HOORAY!
Pounce cheers, YEAH!
[Cheering]
[Sandy applauding]
Neville takes a bow.
[Chuckling]
