The singer sings, FRIZZY, GEMMA,
NEVILLE AND POUNCE.

Frizzy, a koala with blue fur, balances sunglasses on her head. Gemma, a platypus, wears goggles strapped over her head. Neville, a wombat, wears a bucket hat. Pounce, a kangaroo, hops over his friends and down a slide. All the friends wear a red and blue uniform.

The singer and others sing, CADETS IN THE CLUB,
SO COME ON, LET'S BOUNCE.

Gemma, Frizzy and Neville follow Pounce down the slide.

The singer sings, GOOD FRIENDS SURFIN'
SWIMMIN', LEARNIN’

Pounce surfs down the slide. Gemma slides down on her stomach. Fizzy follows with her paws in the air. Neville spins down the slide.

He screams, AAH!

Outside, on the Kangaroo Beach dock, he blows a whistle and points to the water.

[Whistle blaring]

The singer sings, BONDI, SANDY,
BIG TREV TOO.

Kangaroos Bondi and Sandy speed across the water on a boat with Pounce. Underwater, Frizzy travels in a submarine with Big Trev, a bearded koala with green fur.

The singer sings, TRAININ' WITH THE VERY BEST
LIFEGUARD CREW.
STAYIN' SAFE, BEING BRAVE,
RIDE A WAVE, MAKE A SAVE.

Gemma rides in a helicopter. The lifeguards and junior cadets return to the beach. The cadets surf a big wave.

The singer sings, WE'RE HERE ALL SUMMER,
IT JUST GETS FUNNER.
LET'S HOP DOWN TO...

A large wave crashes into the lifeguards and cadets on the beach.

The singer sings, …KANGAROO BEACH!

Title, Kangaroo Beach. A splash of water reveals the episode title on the beach.

Neville reads, CANOE ADVENTURE.

Text reads, written by Lorin Clarke. A wave rolls over the sand, revealing the Kangaroo Beach lifeguard headquarters, the surf club.

[Neville humming]

Inside the surf club, Neville carries a bowl to the dining table. He grabs a box of cereal with Gemma’s face on it. Gemma on the other side of the table.

Gemma says, ADVENTURE DAY!

Neville yelps, AAH!

He falls off his seat.

He gets up and says, UH... DIDN'T WE DO ADVENTURES
YESTERDAY?

Gemma says, YESTERDAY?
HMM... LET'S SEE.
WELL, WE DID RACING AND
SWIMMING AND SURFING AND
WATER-SKIING .

Neville adds, AND WE CLIMBED THAT MOUNTAIN.

Gemma says, WE WALKED UP THAT HILL.
BUT TODAY, I'D LIKE TO SEE
SOME SEA CREATURES.

Neville asks, WHY NOT JUST A NICE LITTLE
PICNIC?

He pours cereal into his bowl.

[Gemma gasping]

Gemma says, YES!
WE CAN CANOE ACROSS THE
LAGOON WITH FRIZZY AND POUNCE!

Neville says, WE?
CANOE?
LAGOON?

He looks around. Gemma is gone.

Neville says, GEMMA?!

Pounce hops into the room.

He says, LOVE YOUR CANOE PICNIC IDEA,
NEV!

Frizzy and Gemma follow him in. Frizzy carries a tray of vegetables.

Gemma says, LET'S MAKE SOME SNACKS.

Pounce joins Neville at the table.

Neville says, UH... THE PICNIC WAS MY IDEA.
I'M STILL NOT SURE ABOUT THE
CANOEING.

Pounce says, CANOEING IS FUN, NEVILLE!
I'VE DONE IT HEAPS!
I'M A... CANOE ROO -
FAST AND DARING!

Neville says, IT DOES SOUND FUN, BUT I'M
MORE OF A... COOL-CAT WOMBAT -
SLOW AND CAREFUL.

Pounce says, CANOE ROO!
ATTACK THE ADVENTURE!

Neville says, COOL-CAT WOMBAT.
MAYBE READ A BOOK INSTEAD.

[Neville chuckling]

Later, at the table, the junior cadets put pieces of the chopped vegetables together.

[Gemma gasping]

Gemma asks, WHAT VEGIE ANIMAL IS THAT,
NEVILLE?

Neville says, IT'S HALF-DUCK-HALF-PIG!
I CHANGED MY MIND HALFWAY
THROUGH.

Pounce says, DON'T WORRY!
MY TOMATO CATERPILLAR LOOKS LIKE
A SUNBURNT SNOWMAN!

[Cadets laughing]

Frizzy says, MY CUCUMBER SNAIL IS A STAR
IN THE VEGIE ANIMAL KINGDOM!
HER TRAIL SHIMMERS LIKE GOLD!

Pounce says, SEE?!
CANOEING IS FUN!

[Neville grumbling nervously]

Later, in the rescue bay, the cadets face Bondi and Sandy.

Bondi says, SO, WHO KNOWS HOW TO CANOE
SAFELY?

Pounce says, ME!
I'M A CANOE ROO!

Laughing, Sandy says, OKAY, CANOE ROO, GO AHEAD.

Pounce hops over to Bondi and Sandy.

He says, OKAY, HERE'S EVERYTHING YOU
NEED TO KNOW.
DON'T FALL OUT.

Bondi and Sandy share a look.

Sandy says, YOU BETCHA.
ALSO WEAR A LIFEJACKET IN
CASE YOU DO.

Bondi adds, AND MAKE SURE YOU KEEP CALM
AND SIGNAL US FOR HELP.
THAT'S WHAT THE WHISTLE ON
YOUR LIFEJACKET'S FOR.

The cadets all wear lifejackets.

Bondi says, THESE CANOES ARE FOR FLAT,
CALM WATER ONLY, NOT THE OCEAN.
GOT IT?

Frizzy and Neville nod.

Bondi says, NOW, THE CADET WITH THE BEST
CANOE SKILLS GOES IN THE STERN,
SO THEY CAN STEER.

Pounce says, THAT'S ME!
INTO THE STERN I GO!

He hops into a canoe in the bay.

[Splashing]

Sandy says, UH... STERN'S AT THE BACK,
BUDDY.

[Pounce laughing nervously]

Pounce hops to the other bench seat in the canoe.

He says, YEAH, I KNEW THAT.

Gemma and Frizzy run over to another canoe. Gemma climbs into the front.

Frizzy says, WAIT!
THIS IS MY SEAT.

Gemma says, UH...
NO, I NEED TO BE UP THE FRONT,
SO I CAN STUDY THE LAGOON FISH.

Frizzy says, WELL, I NEED TO CONTINUE MY
NOBLE QUEST TO FIND A SINGING
SEA PEACOCK!

Gemma says, LITERALLY NOBODY HAS EVER
FOUND A SEA PEACOCK, FRIZZY.

Frizzy says, THAT'S WHAT MAKES IT A NOBLE
QUEST!

She climbs into the canoe.

[Gemma sighing]

At the edge of the water Sandy stands behind Bondi. The two lifeguards hold oars.

Sandy says, THIS IS TANDEM CANOEING.
IT'S ABOUT WORKING TOGETHER
IN SYNC.

In the first canoe, Pounce and Neville row in sync.

They chant, IN SYNC!
IN SYNC!
IN SYNC!

They glide through the water in their canoe.

Bondi says, VERY GOOD!
HOW ARE YOU GOING, GIRLS?

Gemma says, ONE, TWO, THREE.
GO!

She and Frizzy row out of sync.

[Straining]

Gemma and Frizzy’s canoe stays in place.

Gemma says, YOU'RE MEANT TO GO AND 'GO',
NOT 'THREE'.

Frizzy groans, ARGH!
WE'LL NEVER BE IN SYNC!

[Bondi chuckling]

Bondi says, YOU'LL GET THERE.

Sandy says, EVENTUALLY.
KEEP IN TOUCH ON YOUR
WALKIE-TALKIES!

Gemma and Frizzy row in sink, gliding through the water.

Bondi adds, AND BLOW YOUR LIFEJACKET
WHISTLES IF YOU GET INTO ANY
DANGER.

Both lifeguards say, HAVE FUN!

They wave to the cadets as they row their canoes out of the bay. Outside, Neville and Pounce follow Frizzy and Gemma into the lagoon.

Neville and Pounce chant, IN SYNC!
IN SYNC!
IN SYNC!

Pounce asks, WHAT DO YOU THINK, COOL-CAT
WOMBAT?

Neville says, GREAT, THANKS, CANOE ROO!
IT'S SO LOVELY AND CALM.

He and Pounce glide past Frizzy and Gemma, who struggle to stay in sync.

[Gemma and Frizzy straining]

Frizzy says, GEMMA, YOU'RE PADDLING ON THE
WRONG SIDE!

Gemma says, NO, YOU'RE PADDLING ON THE
WRONG SIDE!

Ahead, Neville and Pounce canoe around the lagoon.

Neville says, I THOUGHT CANOEING WOULD BE
WILD.

He and Pounce paddle past Frizzy and Gemma.

Frizzy says, IT IS WILD.

She and Gemma canoe backward.

Frizzy says, NO, THAT'S BACKWARDS!

Gemma says, YOU'RE GOING BACKWARDS.
OTHER WAY!

She franticly paddles backward and is splashed with water.

She says, STOP SPLASHING ME!

[Thudding]

Gemma and Frizzy’s canoe hits the edge of the lagoon.

Pounce says, HERE, LET US HELP!

He and Neville paddle toward the girl’s canoe. Pounce leans over the edge of his canoe and sticks his oar under the girl’s canoe.

[Pounce grunting]

Pounce leans further toward the girl’s canoe, almost tipping his and Neville’s canoe. Their picnic basket falls out.

Neville says, NO!
POUNCE, THE PICNIC!

Pounce says, GRAB IT, GRAB IT!

He and Neville quickly turn their canoe around.

Pounce says, CANOE ROO TO THE RESCUE!

He and Neville paddle after the picnic basket.

[Neville panting]

On land, Gemma takes a seat beside Frizzy. They watch Pounce and Neville paddle away in their canoe.

Gemma says, THERE GO THE BOYS.

She and Frizzy wave.

Gemma says, WHY CAN'T WE BE IN SYNC?
WE WANTED THE SAME THING.

Frizzy says, TO SEE A SINGING SEA PEACOCK!

Gemma says, I DON'T GET IT.
WE WERE PADDLING TWICE ON EACH
SIDE.

Frizzy says, TWICE?!
I WAS DOING THREE A SIDE!
MAYBE WE COULD JUST...
WALK TO THE PICNIC?

[Gemma gasping]

Gemma says, YES!
AND BEAT THE BOYS!
LET'S GO!

She and Frizzy run down the side of the lagoon. On the water, Neville and Pounce race after the picnic basket.

Pounce says, WOW.
WE'RE MOVING REALLY FAST!

Neville says, THE CURRENT'S STRONGER THAN
USUAL.
MAYBE WE SHOULD GO BACK!

Pounce says, NO WAY!

The current carries the canoe around a curve.

Pounce cheers, WHOO-HOO!
CANOE ROO!

Neville nervously chants, COOL-CAT WOMBAT, COOL-CAT
WOMBAT, COOL-CAT WOMBAT...

Pounce cheers, WHOO!

He looks at Neville.

He asks, HOW'RE YOU GOING, NEV?!

Neville asks, CAN YOU GET SEASICK ON A
RIVER?

[Radio hissing]

Neville glances at his two-way radio, his walkie-talkie.

Through the radio, Sandy says, HELLO?
YOU OKAY, BOYS?

Neville responds, YEAH, WE'RE FINE...
SOMEHOW.

Sandy says, NICE ONE!
AND THE GIRLS?

Neville says, THEY'RE TAKING THE SCENIC
ROUTE.

He looks at the hill beside the lagoon at Gemma and Frizzy.

Sandy says, FABO!
KEEP IN TOUCH IF YOU HAVE ANY
TROUBLE, GOT IT?

Neville says, WILL DO, SANDY.
OVER.

[Neville gasping]

[Water rushing]

Neville says, POUNCE?

He and Pounce ride their canoe toward an edge.

Neville asks, WHAT'S THAT?

Pounce says, HOPE YOU LIKE WATERFALLS!

Neville says, WOBBLY WOMBATS!

He and Pounce drop off a small waterfall.

Pounce and Neville yell, WHOA!

They bounce onto the water below. Neville drops his radio. It floats in the water as Neville and Pounce glide further down the lagoon. On land, Gemma and Frizzy pause their hike.

Frizzy says, HMM...

She and Gemma face a fork in the path.

Frizzy says, MY GUT FEELING SAYS THIS WAY.

She points to the path on the right.

Gemma says, YOUR GUT FEELING SAYS CLOUDS
ARE MADE OF MARSHMALLOWS.

Frizzy sighs, AH!
SWEET, DELICIOUS CLOUDS.
I'M GOING THIS WAY.

Gemma says, I'M NOT COMING AFTER YOU!

Frizzy walks away.

Gemma says, I'M TOTALLY GOING AFTER HER.
FRIZZY!

She follows Frizzy. On the water, Neville and Pounce paddle after the picnic basket.

Neville says, COME ON, KEEP PADDLING, NEV!

Neville asks, WHAT DO CANOE ROOS DO WHEN
THERE ARE BIG, SCARY ROCKS
AHEAD?

Water splashes against large rocks in the water.

Pounce yelps, AAH!
PADDLE AROUND THEM!
HARD!

He and Neville paddle around the rocks, narrowly dodging them.

They say, WHOA!
WHOA!

On land, Gemma and Frizzy reach a fallen log.

Gemma says, LET'S TRY THIS IN-SYNC THING
AGAIN.
SHALL WE JUMP OVER IT TOGETHER?

Frizzy says, YES!
AT EXACTLY THE SAME TIME.
ONE, TWO, THREE.
GO!

Gemma and Frizzy try and jump over the log.

[Gemma and Frizzy grunting]

Gemma and Frizzy stumble over the log and fall on their faces.

[Gemma and Frizzy laughing]

Gemma says, WE ARE SO BAD AT BEING
IN SYNC.

Frizzy says, MAYBE WE NEED A CHANT!

Gemma says, HMM...
IF ONLY ONE OF US WAS GOOD AT
SINGING.

Back on their feet, Frizzy starts dancing.

She sings, YOU AND I MAKE A SUPER TEAM!
WALK, SWIM, RUN OR JOG!
TOGETHER WE CAN DO ANYTHING,
EXCEPT FOR JUMPING THAT LOG!

[Gemma and Frizzy laughing]

Gemma and Frizzy skip down the path together. On the water, Pounce and Neville continue paddling after the picnic basket as it floats toward the open water of the sea.

Pounce says, COME ON, NEV, LET'S GET THE
BASKET BEFORE IT GOES INTO THE
SEA.

Neville says, WE'VE GOT TO PADDLE TO LAND
BEFORE WE GO INTO THE SEA!
FLAT WATER ONLY, REMEMBER?

Pounce says, TRUST ME, I KNOW WHAT I'M
DOING.
I'M A CANOE ROO!

Back on land, Frizzy and Gemma skip side by side in sync.

They sing, EXCEPT FOR JUMPING THAT LOG!

Frizzy stops and looks at Gemma.

She says, HEY, I THINK WE'RE...

Gemma says, …FINALLY IN SYNC!
I THINK SO TOO!

She and Frizzy perform an intricate high-five involving dancing and posing.

They both cheer, YES!
LET'S GO!

They skip in sync.

They sing, YOU AND I MAKE A SUPER TEAM!

On the water, Pounce and Neville paddle out of the lagoon into waves in the ocean.

Pounce says, IT'S GETTING AWAY.
WE NEED TO PADDLE FASTER.

Neville says, I'M GOING AS FAST AS I CAN!

A wave lifts Pounce and Neville’s canoe. A tall wave curls in the distance.

Pounce says, UH-OH!

The wave starts to crash.

Pounce says, WHOA!

Neville says, WE'RE IN THE OCEAN NOW.
THANK GOODNESS YOU'RE AN EXPERT.

Pounce says, UH... ABOUT THAT...

He scratches the back of his head.

He says, I'VE ONLY BEEN CANOEING ONCE,
AND IT WAS IN MY UNCLE'S
BACKYARD POOL.

Neville says, SO, YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO
DO NOW?!

[Pounce laughing nervously]

Pounce says, IS IT TOO LATE TO BE A
COOL-CAT WOMBAT INSTEAD?

[Neville gasping]

Neville yells, WAVE!

A large wave crashes against Pounce and Neville’s canoe, knocking them into the water.

Pounce yells, AGH!

Pounce and Neville pop up out of the water.

[Pounce and Neville gasping]

Pounce and Neville’s canoe is flipped over in the water behind them.

Pounce says, WE NEED TO CALL THE
LIFEGUARDS.

Neville reaches for his walkie-talkie.

[Neville gasping]

Neville says, MY WALKIE-TALKIE'S GONE!

Pounce says, I'LL BLOW MY WHISTLE INSTEAD.

He blows the whistle on his lifejacket.

[Whistle blowing]

On land, Gemma and Frizzy walk in sync.

They sing, EXCEPT FOR JUMPING THAT LOG!

They drink from their water bottles.

[Whistle blowing]

Gemma and Frizzy spit out their water.

They say, NEVILLE AND POUNCE!
WE'D BETTER GET THE LIFEGUARDS.

Still in sync, Gemma and Neville grab their walkie talkies.

They say, EMERGENCY AT SEA!

[Alarm blaring]

[Upbeat music plays]

In a montage, the Kangaroo Beach lifeguards prepare for rescue with radios, first aid kits, and rescue boards. The travel in their rescue vehicles, a helicopter, boat, submarine and golf cart. The junior cadets gather, ready for action, and pose.

[Pounce and Neville straining]

In the water outside the lagoon, float in their life jackets. In the distance, Bondi and Sandy cruise over in the rescue boat.

Neville says, OH, THANK GOODNESS!
WE'RE SAVED.

Gemma and Frizzy ride in the back of the boat.

They say, POUNCE!
NEVILLE!
YOU'RE OKAY!

Pounce and Neville swim up to the boat. Bondi and Sandy pull them out of the water.

Sandy asks, ARE YOU ALL RIGHT, YOU TWO?

Bondi says, ROUGH WATERS OUT THERE FOR
THAT LITTLE CANOE.
THIS COULD HAVE ENDED VERY
BADLY, INDEED.

Pounce says, IT WAS MY FAULT.
WE SHOULD HAVE PADDLED TO
SHORE, LIKE NEVILLE SAID.

Sandy says, LUCKY FRIZZY AND GEMMA HEARD
YOU.

Pounce says, THANKS, FRIZZY.
THANKS, GEMMA.

Frizzy and Gemma say, NO PROBLEM AT ALL!

Pounce and Neville share a look.

Pounce asks, WHY ARE YOU TALKING LIKE
THAT?

Frizzy and Gemma say, WE'RE IN SYNC NOW!

They look at each other.

They add, IT'S KIND OF ANNOYING.

On the beach, Bondi and Sandy hop across the sand with the junior cadets.

Sandy says, GREAT PLACE FOR A PICNIC!

Neville says, PITY WE DON'T HAVE A PICNIC.

Pounce looks toward the ocean.

He says, WAIT!
WHAT'S THAT?

The picnic basket floats toward shore. Pounce grabs it.

He says, OUR PICNIC IS SAVED!

Frizzy cheers, YES!

Gemma says, YES, I CAN'T WAIT!

Neville says, YEAH!

Frizzy says, AMAZING!

Pounce gives Neville his duck pig vegetable snack.

Neville says, I'M A DUCK PIG.
I'VE BEEN TO SEA!
PIRATE DUCK PIG!
OINK!
QUACK!
ARR!

Pounce takes another vegetable animal out of the picnic basket.

He says, WOW!
WHAT'S THIS ONE MEANT TO BE?

[Frizzy gasping]

Frizzy says, MY CUCUMBER SNAIL!
IT'S RUINED!

Gemma says, FRIZZY, IT LOOKS LIKE A
SINGING SEA PEACOCK!

Frizzy says, HEY, IT TOTALLY DOES!

She raises her singing sea peacock.

She sings, LA, LA-LA-LA, LA!

[Laughing]

Neville runs around with his duck pig.

He says, QUACK, QUACK!

[Cadets laughing]

[Upbeat music plays]
