A staircase spirals around the tree trunk of the Treeborhood. Tiny houses are nestled in the tree. In the Wombat’s house, Malik, a blue-grey wombat; Zadie, a purple wombat; and Zeke, a yellow wombat, sleep in hammocks. They wake up, jump out of their hammocks, and high-five each other. Their grandmother, Super, a blue wombat with pink hair, pours milk and breakfast cereal into their bowls. Zeke holds his stuffed wombat, Snout. The children leave the house and slide across tree branches.

[Slide whistle, rhythmic music plays]

Malik, Zadie, and Zeke sing, WHEN THERE'S A PROBLEM, WHAT DO WE SAY? WORK IT OUT, WORK IT OUT, WORK IT OUT, WOMBATS. WHERE THERE'S A WILL, THERE'S ALWAYS WAY. WORK IT OUT, WORK IT OUT, WORK IT OUT, WOMBATS.

Zadie sings, WE'VE GOT IDEAS FOR DAYS.

Malik sings, SOLVE PROBLEMS LOTS OF WAYS.

Zeke sings, I LOVE IT WHEN WE PLAY…

Malik, Zadie, and Zeke sing, ALL TOGETHER.

Ellie, an orange moose, jumps on a trampoline, and her blue hat flies off. In a hot air balloon basket, Malik catches the hat and returns it to Ellie.

[Slide whistle, upbeat music plays]

Zadie sings, HEY, I'M ZADIE; BRING ON THE PROBLEMS. TRY SOME DIFFERENT THINGS 'TIL WE SOLVE 'EM.

Zadie puts apples on a table. The apples fall, and Zadie and Mr. E, a green iguana with a black bowler hat, pick the apples up.

[Whooshing, slide whistle]

Malik sings, I'M MALIK, WE'LL WORK IT OUT, JUST WAIT. WE MAKE SOME PLANS, AND THEN WE BUILD AND CREATE.

Malik rides in a go-kart with his friend JunJun, a pink Philippine Eagle. They both wear helmets.

Zeke sings, I'M ZEKE, HERE'S SNOUT, WE LIKE TO EXPLORE.

Malik, Zadie, and Zeke sing, LET'S GO DO IT, ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR. HELP'S NEVER FAR AWAY, THAT'S FOR SURE. WORK IT OUT, WORK IT OUT, WORK IT OUT, WOMBATS. COME JOIN THE FUN, YOU READY? LET'S GO. WORK IT OUT, WORK IT OUT, WORK IT OUT, WOMBATS. WORK IT OUT, WORK IT OUT, WORK IT OUT, WOMBATS. YEAH!

Episode title: Yo-Ho-Ho: A Sandwich for Mr. E.

Zadie, Mr. E., and Zeke ride in a cardboard box on a wagon. Malik walks beside them. Everyone wears a white beard. Mr. E. wears a pirate hat with an X on the front and holds a sandwich.

[Upbeat music plays]

Text reads, “Written by Cooper Sweeney. Directed by Jeff Barker, Andrea Gerstmann. Song by Andrea Leon-Ramos.”

The wombat family sits on their deck, using an overturned cardboard box as a table. Everyone eats a sandwich.

[Munching, upbeat music plays]

Zadie says, MM, THIS IS DELICIOUS.

Malik says, MM. GRANDMA, YOUR SUPER SUB SANDWICHES ARE THE BEST.

[Mr. E. panting]

Mr. E. arrives and jogs in place.

Mr. E. says, HIDEEHI! I THOUGHT I'D JOG OVER AND THANK YOU, SUPER, FOR MAKING ME THIS TICKY-TICKER BUZZY BEEPER.

[Beeping]

Mr. E. pushes a button on a watch.

Zeke says, WHAT'S A TICKY-TICKER BUZZY BEEPER?

Mr. E. says, SUPER INVENTED IT. THIS WATCH MAKES A SOUND ANY TIME SOMEONE AT THE EVERYTHING EMPORIUM NEEDS MY HELP. THERE'S A SPECIAL BUTTON AT THE COUNTER AT THE STORE.

[Slide whistle, horn blaring, screaming]

Mr. E. imagines Ellie arriving at the Everything Emporium counter. She pushes the button on the counter and awakens Mr. E. in his bed.

In reality, Mr. E. says, IF ANYONE PUSHES THE BUTTON, THIS HANDY LITTLE DEVICE MAKES A NOISE.

Mr. E. says, PRETTY NIFTY, EH? IT'S ALSO A…

[Clicking, whirring, splashing]

Mr. E. pushes a button, and a tiny blender appears on his watch. Pink liquid splashes on his face.

Mr. E. says, BLENDER.

Zadie says, WANT A NAPKIN?

[Gasping, bright music notes play]

Mr. E. says, IS THAT WHAT I THINK IT IS?

[Slide whistle]

Zeke holds up his sandwich.

Zeke says, THESE ARE SUPER'S SUPER SUB SANDWICHES. THEY'RE REALLY GOOD.

[Slide whistles, sad music plays, munching]

Zeke waves the sandwich in front of Mr. E.’s face and then takes it away. Mr. E. remembers Super giving him a sandwich. He takes a bite, and then he and Super dance.

Mr. E. says, SUPER'S DELICIOUS SUPER SUB SANDWICHES. I REMEMBER THOSE. I HAD ONE ONCE WHEN I WAS A WEE LIZARD. IT WAS THE MOST DELICIOUS SANDWICH I HAD EVER TASTED.

In the present, Mr. E. says, ALAS, I FORGOT TO EAT LUNCH TODAY, SO I WILL HAVE A RUMBLY TUMMY ALL DAY. OH, POOR, POOR ME.

[Clicking, tiny violin plays]

Mr. E. hits a button on his watch, and a tiny violin pops up.

Zeke says, GRANDMA, I THINK MR. E. MIGHT WANT A SANDWICH, TOO.

Mr. E. turns off the violin.

Mr. E. says, OH, WOW, THE THOUGHT NEVER CROSSED MY MIND, BUT YES, PLEASE.

[Horn blaring, screaming]

Mr. E. says, SOMEONE NEEDS MY HELP! I HAVE TO GET BACK TO THE EMPORIUM. OH, BUT WHAT ABOUT MY SANDWICH?

[Sad music plays and transitions to happy music]

Super says, SURE THING, ONCE IT'S MADE, I'LL DELIVER IT.

Mr. E. says, THANK YOU, SUPER. TATA!

In the wombat kitchen, Super makes a sandwich. Zadie and Zeke wear helmets with sashes around them. Malik has a sailor hat on top of his helmet. They stand beside the wagon with the box on it.

Malik says, COOL.

The children climb into the box.

[Jaunty music plays]

The children sing, WHAT DO WE DO TODAY? PLAY PIRATES, ARGH! HOORAY.

Malik sings, YO HO HO, LET'S SAIL AWAY.

[Children laughing]

Malik says, ARGH, IS THAT THE SANDWICH TREASURE MR. E'S BEEN EYEING?

Super says, YARGH, YES IT BE!

[Slide whistle]

A speaker drops down beside Super.

Through the speaker, Duffy says, SUPER, HELP!

[Whooshing, dramatic music plays]

Duffy says, THE FLAPJACK FLIPPER IS ON THE FRITZ.

In her kitchen, Super says, COMING!

[Slide whistle, jaunty music plays]

The speaker retracts.

Super asks, COULD YE BRAVE PIRATES DELIVER THIS SANDWICH FOR ME?

The children say, AY-AY!

Super says, THIS TREASURE SHOULD GO INSIDE SOMETHING TO KEEP IT SAFE. ARGH.

[Lunch box clattering]

Super gives Zadie a lunchbox.

Zadie says, ARGH, SOMETHING THAT'S JUST THE RIGHT SIZE AND CLOSES TIGHTLY.

[Slide whistle, clanking]

Malik puts the sandwich in the lunch box. Zadie imagines closing a treasure chest as she closes the lunch box.

In reality, Zadie says, THIS LUNCH BOX CAN BE OUR TREASURE CHEST.

Malik says, YARGH, LET'S GET THIS TREASURE TO MR. E. ISLAND RIGHT AWAY. PIRATE ZEKE, YOU BE THE SCOUT, ON THE LOOKOUT FOR ANY DANGERS IN THE HIGH SEAS.

Zeke says, OKIE-DOKIE! I MEAN, ARGH! WAIT A SEC.

[Slide whistles]

Zeke pretends to swim across the floor to a recycling bin. He takes out an empty paper towel roll. Zeke peers through his pretend spyglass.

Zeke says, THIS'LL BE MY SPYGLASS. IT'S LONG, AND YOU CAN LOOK THROUGH IT, JUST LIKE A PIRATE'S SPYGLASS.

Zadie says, ARGH! I'LL BE THE CAPTAIN, ARGH!

[Slide whistle]

Zeke stands beside Zadie.

Zadie says, OOH, BUT I'LL NEED A STEERING WHEEL TO STEER THE SHIP.

[Upbeat music plays, clicking, slide whistle, clattering]

Zadie pretends to swim to a cupboard door and opens it. She throws pots and bowls out on the floor and then swims back with a pie tin.

Zadie says, THIS PIE TIN WILL WORK. IT'S ROUND LIKE A STEERING WHEEL, AND IT CAN TURN FROM SIDE TO SIDE. YEEARGH!

[Slide whistle, creaking]

Zadie imagines a steering wheel turning.

[Slide whistles, rustling]

Malik throws a kite, blankets, and two foam rolls over his head, and they fall into the wagon.

Malik says, NOW OUR SHIP IS STOCKED WITH SUPPLIES, AND THIS KITE CAN BE OUR SAIL. I'LL MAKE SURE OUR SAILS ARE FULL OF WIND SO WE'LL KEEP MOVING.

[Malik blowing, jaunty music plays]

Malik pushes the wagon.

Zadie says, SET A COURSE FOR MR. E. ISLAND.

Zeke says, EIEIO, CAPTAIN ZADIE!

[Door opening, wheel squeaking, jaunty music continues]

The children sing, WHAT DO WE DO TODAY? PLAY PIRATES, ARGH, HOORAY. YO HO HO, LET'S SAIL AWAY.

[Music ends, Malik panting, wheels rattling]

Malik pushes the wagon out of a tunnel. Zeke peers through his spyglass at Amado, who holds a hose and stands beside plants.

Zeke says, CAPTAIN, I SEE AMADO AHEAD.

[Dramatic music plays, faucet squeaking, whooshing, water splashing]

Amado turns the faucet, and the hose sprays wildly.

Amado says, WHOA, NOT THE PLANTS!

Zadie says, AVAST, THAT HOSE IS GOING WILD!

[Slide whistles, Amado grunting, dinging]

Amado falls, and the hose sprays his face. Zadie imagines a snake-like sea monster.

Zadie says, IT'S LIKE AN ANGRY SEA MONSTER AND IT'S GOT AMADO! STOP THE SHIP!

[Water spraying, Amado grunting]

Zeke says, WE HAVE TO HELP AMADO STOP THAT MONSTER. I'LL DROP ANCHOR.

[Slide whistle, toy squeaking, tense music plays, splashing, whooshing, dinging]

Zeke drops a rubber duck tied to a string. Malik imagines a heavy metal anchor.

Malik asks, WHY’D YOU USE A RUBBER DUCKY AS AN ANCHOR? ANCHORS ARE BIG AND ARE SUPPOSED TO BE, UH, HEAVY.

[Slide whistle, toy squeaking]

Zeke bounces the duck on the ground.

Zeke says, I LIKE HOW IT SQUEAKS.

[Slide whistle, jaunty music plays, water spraying]

Zadie unfolds a blanket.

Zadie says, HERE, WE CAN USE THIS BLANKET AS OUR NET. IF I THROW IT ON TOP OF THE SEA MONSTER, IT MIGHT TRAP IT.

[Slide whistles, whooshing, water spraying]

Zadie throws the blanket on the hose and Amado. His legs kick beneath the blanket.

Zadie says, ARGH, THIS BE A MIGHTY BEAST.

[Slide whistle, water spraying]

Through his spyglass, Zeke looks at the faucet.

Zeke says, FIRST MATE MALIK, THE WATER!

Malik says, GOOD THINKING, PIRATE ZEKE. IF I TURN OFF THE WATER, IT MIGHT TAME THE SEA MONSTER.

[Squeaking, water stops spraying, Amado groaning]

Malik turns off the water, and Amado sits up.

Zadie says, YARHAR, WE TAMED THE SEA MONSTER!

Amado says, ARGH, YOU BRAVE PIRATES SAVED ME. FOR SUCH BRAVERY, YOU DESERVE A REWARD.

[Whooshing, leaves rustling]

Amado gives Malik a handful of leaves.

Malik says, UH, GOLDEN LEAVES?

[Slide whistle, chiming, happy music plays]

Amado imagines gold doubloons.

Amado says, OH, NO, NO. THOSE BE GOLD DOUBLOONS.

Zadie says, WOW, GOLD DOUBLOONS. THANK YE! NOW, WE MUST BE OFF. WE'RE DELIVERING A TREASURE TO MR. E. ISLAND.

Zeke pulls up the anchor, and Malik puts the leaves in the box.

Amado says, SAFE TRAVELS, MATEYS.

The children sing, WHAT DID WE DO TODAY? TAME THE MONSTER, ARGH, HOORAY. YO HO HO, LET'S SAIL AWAY.

[Zeke gasping, slide whistle, wheels rattling, wheels rumbling, thumping]

Malik pushes the wagon. Zadie takes the spyglass from Zeke and looks through it. Sammy rides his skateboard off a ramp between traffic cones.

Zadie says, WHAT IS IT, PIRATE ZEKE? THERE BE SAMMY, LOOK, THE SCOUNDREL SEA SURFING PIRATE. DROP ANCHOR.

[Toy squeaking, slide whistle]

Sammy skateboards to the wagon and Zadie shows him the lunchbox.

Zadie says, OUT OF OUR WAY, YOU SEA-SURFING SCOUNDREL! WE'RE DELIVERING THE TREASURE TO MR. E. ISLAND.

[Tense music plays]

Sammy says, WELL, IF YE BE GOING TO MR. E.'S ISLAND, YOU'LL HAVE TO PASS THROUGH THE DANGEROUS WATERS WITH POINTY ROCKS.

[Slide whistle, waves crashing, dinging]

Zeke looks at the traffic cones and imagines waves breaking against rocks.

Zeke says, ARGH, THEY REALLY ARE POINTY ROCKS. YAR, WILL YOU HELP US?

Sammy says, HARHAR, NO WAY! I AM A SCOUNDREL AFTER ALL.

[Jaunty music plays]

Zadie says, THEN I CHALLENGE YOU TO A SURFING CONTEST. IF I WIN, YOU'LL HELP US THROUGH THE POINTY ROCKS.

Sammy says, YARGH. YOU'RE ON. SEE IF YOU CAN BEAT THIS.

[Upbeat music plays, wheels rumbling, whooshing, boinging]

Sammy skateboards around the cones and over the ramp.

Sammy says, ARGH, IMPRESSED?

Zadie says, THAT BE A FINE TRICK, BUT THAT'S NOTHING COMPARED TO THIS. WATCH.

[Slide whistle, wheels rumbling, whooshing, boinging]

Zadie flips out of the wagon and lands on the skateboard. She circles a traffic cone and up the ramp. Zadie tilts the skateboard and stands on the tip.

Zadie shouts, YARGH!

Zadie lands on the ground and skateboards to the wagon.

Zeke asks, DID YOU KNOW SHE COULD DO THAT?

Malik NOPE.

Zadie flips into the box on the wagon.

Sammy says, THAT WAS AMAZING, CAPTAIN ZADIE. YOU BEAT ME FAIR AND SQUARE. I'LL HELP YOU PASS THROUGH THE POINTY ROCKS. YARGH!

[Jaunty music plays, wheels rumbling]

Sammy hops on his skateboard and leads the wagon through the traffic cones.

Zadie shouts, YARGH!

[Exciting music plays, wheels rumbling]

Malik says, LOOK OUT! POINTY ROCKS PORTSIDE. IF WE HIT THEM, WE'LL SINK.

They stop by a tunnel entrance.

Zadie, Zeke, and Malik say, YOHOHO, YOU DID IT!

Zadie says, THANKS, SAMMY.

Sammy watches Malik push the wagon into the tunnel.

[Jaunty music plays]

The children sing, WHAT DID WE DO TODAY? DID SURFING TRICKS, ARGH, HOORAY. YOHOHO, LET'S SAIL AWAY.

The wagon approaches Kaya, who hangs blue tablecloths on a drying line.

Zeke says, YARGH, ARE THOSE TABLECLOTHS UP AHEAD, CAPTAIN?

[Slide whistle]

Zadie looks through the spyglass at the tablecloths waving in the breeze.

Zadie says, THOSE AREN'T TABLECLOTHS. SEE HOW THEY'RE THE COLOUR OF THE OCEAN? AND THEY'RE MOVING UP AND DOWN. THEY'RE WAVES.

[Slide whistle, waves crashing]

Zadie imagines waves.

Zadie says, THESE BE ROUGH WATERS.

Malik says, YARGH, YOU CALL THESE ROUGH WATERS? I'VE SEEN ROUGHER WATERS IN A BATHTUB.

[Dramatic music plays, water spraying]

Kaya smiles and takes out a spray bottle. She sprays the children as they pass her.

Malik says, ARGH, THE SEAS ARE GETTING ROUGH.

Zeke says, WE'RE TAKING ON WATER.

Zadie says, FULL SPEED AHEAD!

The children sing, WHAT DID WE DO TODAY? ESCAPED THE STORM, ARGH, HOORAY! YO HO HO, LET'S SAIL AWAY.

[Splashing, tense music plays, slide whistle]

Zeke says, LOOK OUT, CAPTAIN, THERE'S ANOTHER SEA MONSTER, AND IT'S BLOCKING OUR WAY TO MR. E. ISLAND.

Zadie says, DROP ANCHOR.

[Slide whistle, bright music plays]

Zeke drops the anchor.

Louisa says, SEA MONSTER? I'M NO SEA MONSTER. DID YOU NOT KNOW I AM A MERMAID, A MERMAID QUEEN.

[Slide whistle, whooshing]

Louisa imagines being a mermaid.

Zeke says, YOUR MAJESTY, WE'RE TAKING THIS TREASURE TO MR. E. ISLAND, SO COULD YE MOVE OUT OF THE WAY, PLEASE?

[Slide whistle]

Zeke holds up the lunchbox.

[Bright music plays]

Louisa says, DID YOU NOT KNOW? MERMAIDS, ESPECIALLY MERMAID QUEENS, WON'T LET A SHIP PASS THEIR WATERS UNLESS YOU GIVE THEM A PRESENT.

[Slide whistles, whooshing]

Zeke holds up his spyglass and imagines peering through it.

Zeke says, YOU CAN HAVE ME SPYGLASS. YOU CAN USE IT TO SEE THINGS THAT ARE FAR AWAY.

Louisa says, I HAVE NO USE FOR A SPYGLASS. I'M A MERMAID QUEEN, I ALREADY SEE ALL.
[Dinging]

Malik asks, YOU WANT MY PIRATE HAT?

Louisa says, PIRATE HAT? I'M NOT A PIRATE MERMAID, I'M A QUEEN MERMAID.

Zadie says, HM. I'VE GOT IT!

[Whooshing, slide whistle]

Zadie ties the two foam rolls into a floating chair. She imagines a throne.

Louisa says, AH, A THRONE FIT FOR A QUEEN. OKAY, YOU MAY PASS.

Zadie cheers, ARGH!

[Jaunty music plays, door opens]

The children sing, WHAT DID WE DO TODAY? MADE A THRONE FOR A MERMAID QUEEN, ARGH, HOORAY! YO HO HO, LET'S SAIL AWAY.

Malik pushes the wagon into the Everything Emporium.

Zadie says, WE MADE IT TO MR. E. ISLAND, DROP THE ANCHOR.

[Slide whistle, squeaking]

Zeke drops the anchor. Mr. E. turns from stacking cans on the floor.

Mr. E. asks, WHY ARE YOU IN A BOX TAPED TO A WAGON?

[Dinging, upbeat music plays]

Malik images a pirate ship on the water.

Malik says, IT'S NOT A BOX TAPED TO A WAGON; THIS BE OUR PIRATE SHIP! ARGH!

[Mr. E. chuckling]

Mr. E. says, YES.

Zeke says, WE BROUGHT YOU TREASURE.

[Creaking, Mr. E. gasping]

Zadie sings, WE'LL USE SOME GARLIC BULBS FROM UNDER THE KITCHEN'S BOTTOM SHELF.

[Cupboard door squeaking, slamming, faucet squeaking, splashing]

Zadie takes a garlic bulb out of a cupboard. Malik fills a bucket with water, and Zadie adds bubble bath and the garlic bulb.

Everyone sings, BUBBLE UP, BUBBLE UP, LET'S SMELL THIS GARLIC BATH.

[Sniffing]

Everyone says, PEWEE.

Everyone sings, WHEN I FAIL, I LEARN AND GROW, THE MORE I TRY THE MORE I KNOW. ROUND THREE.

[Splashing, slide whistle]

Malik empties the bucket, and Zadie pushes the number three out of her way.

Zadie sings, SUPER LOVES HOW FLOWERS SMELL. THAT COULD MAKE THE BATH SPECIAL.

[Upbeat music plays]

Quique says, I'M TEACHING A BOMBA DANCE CLASS LATER, AND I THOUGHT I COULD WEAR…

[Drink tapping]

Mr. E. enters the café, and Duffy puts a drink on the counter.

Duffy says, MORNING, MR. E. HERE'S YOUR SMOOTHIE.

Mr. E. says, THANKS, DUFFY.

Mr. E. sits at a booth. Zadie, Zeke, and Malik peek over the top.

[Slide whistle]

The children say, GOOD MORNING, MR. E.!

[Spitting]

Malik says, SORRY, MR. E., WE DIDN'T MEAN TO SURPRISE YOU.

Mr. E. says, NORMALLY I'D BE UPSET, BUT TODAY IS SO EXCITING NOTHING CAN GET ME DOWN.

Zeke asks, WHY IS TODAY SO EXCITING, MR. E.?

Mr. E. says, BECAUSE IT'S BALLOONIE FOR YOUIE DAY AT THE EVERYTHING EMPORIUM, EVERY CUSTOMER GETS A FREE BALLOON!

Duffy says, I WAS A LITTLE SURPRISED YOU SCHEDULED BALLOONIE FOR YOUIE DAY ON THE SAME DAY AS THE HOT POTATO SACK RACE CHAMPIONSHIP.

Mr. E. says, BUT HOW CAN I GIVE OUT BALLOONS AND WATCH THE RACE!? I'VE BEEN FOLLOWING EIGHT-TIME CHAMPION WILLYAM SPUDDENHEIMER ALL SEASON. I CAN'T MISS THIS RACE, I CAN'T!

[Banging]

Mr. E. pounds his fists on the table.

[Slide whistles, doorbell jangling]

Zeke imagines Mr. E. watching television in the Emporium. He runs from the television to the doorway, giving Quique, Leiko, and Ellie each a green balloon.

Zeke says, I HAVE AN IDEA. MAYBE YOU CAN TRY RUNNING BACK AND FORTH REALLY FAST BETWEEN THE T.V. AND THE BALLOONS?

[Mr. E. grunting]

Mr. E. says, MM, BUT I'M NOT A VERY FAST RUNNER, I HAVE TINY LITTLE LEGS.

Zadie says, MAYBE YOU COULD MAKE A COPY OF YOURSELF WITH YOUR SUPER AWESOME COPY MACHINE. THEN THE COPY OF YOURSELF CAN HAND OUT BALLOONS WHILE THE REAL YOU CAN WATCH THE RACE.

[Slide whistle, copy machine door slamming, dinging, gentle music plays]

Zadie imagines Mr. E. making a copy of himself.

In the daydream, Mr. E. says, HELLO, HANDSOME.

In reality, Mr. E. says, IF ONLY I COULD COPY MYSELF, BUT ALAS, I DON'T HAVE A COPY MACHINE THAT CAN DO THAT.

Malik says, YOU COULD ALWAYS JUST RECORD THE RACE AND WATCH IT LATER.

Mr. E. says, BUT THERE MIGHT BE SPOILERS! FOLKS MIGHT WATCH THE RACE BEFORE I DO AND TELL ME WHO WON AND THAT WOULD RUIN IT FOR ME.

[Slide whistle, Mr. E. crying]

Mr. E. rocks on the floor.

Zeke says, SOUNDS LIKE YOU NEED A HELPER, MR. E.

[Slide whistle, bright music plays]

Mr. E. stands and takes out his tablet.

Mr. E. says, A HELPER, THAT'S IT! THE OTHER DAY I SAW AN AD FOR, HERE IT IS, THE STOREBOT 3000, THE ULTIMATE HELPER ROBOT. AND ORDERED!

Mr. E. runs past the children.

Malik says, MR. E. JUST ORDERED A ROBOT?

Zadie says, THIS I'VE GOT TO SEE. WAIT FOR US, MR. E.

[Whooshing, squeaking, thumping]

At the Everything Emporium, Mr. E. opens the door. Gabriella pushes a tall box on a dolly and puts it on the path in front of the door.

Mr. E. says, THANKS, GABRIELLA.

[Mr. E. grunting, slide whistles, thumping, box rustling, upbeat music plays]

Mr. E. tries to push and lift the box, and he falls. The box falls open, revealing the tall robot. Malik, Zadie, and Zeke slide off the bottom of a slide.

The children exclaim, A ROBOT!

Mr. E. says, NO TOUCHING MY STOREBOT 3000! THANKS TO YOU, MY LITTLE ROBOT FRIEND, I WON'T MISS THE RACE.

[Wheels squeaking]

Mr. E. pushes the robot into the Everything Emporium.

The children say, WHOA.

[Whooshing, dinging]

Mr. E. opens the door and gives the robot a balloon.

Mr. E. says, OKAY, ROBOT, WHILE I WATCH THE RACE, I NEED YOU TO, ONE, OPEN THE DOOR, TWO, GIVE THE CUSTOMER A BALLOON, AND THREE, CLOSE THE DOOR WHEN THEY LEAVE. LET'S TRY IT. AND GO.

[Slide whistle]

The balloon floats up from the robot’s hand.

Mr. E. says, IT’S NOT DOING ANYTHING.

[Groaning, whooshing, zapping]

Mr. E. waves his hands and then turns off his robot.

Mr. E. says, I GOT A DEFECTIVE ROBOT!

Malik says, BUT, MR. E, ROBOTS CAN'T THINK ON THEIR OWN. YOU HAVE TO PROGRAM THEM TO DO WHAT YOU WANT THEM TO DO.

Mr. E. asks, WHAT DO YOU MEAN "PROGRAM?"

Malik says, YOU HAVE TO TELL THE ROBOT EXACTLY WHAT TO DO AND IN WHAT ORDER. LIKE ZEKE'S ROBOT ELEPHANT TOY.

[Slide whistle, upbeat music plays, beeping]

Malik remembers about Zeke dragging icons in an app.

Malik says, ZEKE USES A SPECIAL APP. HE DRAGS BLOCKS TO THE TOP OF THE SCREEN THAT TELL THE ROBOT WHAT TO DO. THE GREEN BLOCK IS THE START OF THE PROGRAM. THIS BLOCK TELLS THE ROBOT TO BLOW A BUBBLE, AND THE RED BLOCK IS THE END OF THE PROGRAM.

[Bubbles popping]

In the memory, the robot elephant toy blows bubbles out of the trunk. In the present, Mr. E. looks at an app on his tablet.

Mr. E. says, I FOUND THE APP FOR MY ROBOT.

[Gentle music plays]

Malik says, IT LOOKS THE SAME AS ZEKE'S ROBOT APP. SEE, THE START BLOCK IS ALREADY THERE. NOW YOU JUST NEED TO DRAG BLOCKS UP HERE TO TELL THE ROBOT WHAT TO DO, AND THEN ADD THE STOP BLOCK AT THE END.

Zeke says, WHICH MEANS IT'LL BE EASY PEASY TO PROGRAM.

[Triumphant music plays]

Zadie declares, OOH, LET'S GET READY TO PROGRAM!

Mr. E. looks at his tablet and sweats.

Mr. E. says, I'M NOT SO SURE ABOUT THIS. IT'S TOO HARD, I CAN'T DO IT! WILL YOU DO IT FOR ME, PLEASE?

Zadie says, SUPER ALWAYS SAYS THE BEST WAY TO LEARN…

[Gentle music plays]

The children say, IS BY FIRST TRYING IT YOURSELF.

Zeke says, YOU CAN DO IT, MR. E. SNOUT BELIEVES IN YOU.

Mr. E. hugs Snout.

Mr. E. says, YOU CAN DO THIS, MR. E. YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS.

Malik says, AND REMEMBER, WHEN YOU'RE DONE PROGRAMMING, BE SURE TO TEST IT OUT.

[Dinging, beeping]

Zeke nods. Mr. E. moves the icons on the tablet.

Mr. E. says, HERE'S THE START BLOCK. THIS LETS THE ROBOT KNOW TO BEGIN. THE ROBOT NEEDS TO OPEN THE DOOR, SO I NEED TO PUT THE DOOR BLOCK HERE, AND FOR THE END OF MY PROGRAM, I PUT THE RED BLOCK HERE.

[Horn blowing]

Mr. E. says, OH, THAT MEANS THE RACE IS STARTING.

[Rustling]

Mr. E. gives the tablet to Malik and pushes the button on the robot. He brings a display with balloons.

Mr. E. says, THERE, I PROGRAMMED MY ROBOT. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ENCOURAGEMENT. NOW, WOULD YOU LEAVE ME TO MY POTATO SACK RACE, PLEASE AND THANK YOU?

[Popping]

Mr. E. takes off his hat and puts on a baked potato hat.

Zadie says, HM, AHA.

[Thumping]

Zadie sits on Mr. E.’s chair with the lever.

Zadie asks, MR. E, CAN WE USE YOUR SUPER COOL CHAIR?

Mr. E. replies, YES, OF COURSE, JUST DON'T GET ANYTHING MESSY.

[Boinging, cheering, whooshing, scraping, shouting]

The children sit on the chair. Zadie pushes the lever, and the chair spins and moves backwards.

Zadie says, WHOOPS, WRONG WAY. THAT'S NOT RIGHT EITHER!

[Children shouting]

The chair spins.

Zeke says, LET ME TRY, LET ME TRY.

[Clicking]

Zeke pushes the lever, and the chair rolls forward.

Zeke shouts, WEE!

[Cheering, Mr. E. laughing]

In another room, Mr. E. watches the television.

Mr. E. says, ALRIGHT!

[Chuckling, door opening]

In the front room of the store, Louisa opens the front door.

Louisa says, BRING ON MY BALLOONIE!

[Whirring, door slamming, upbeat music notes play, door opening]

The robot slams the door, leaving Louisa on the front stoop. Louisa opens the door.

Louisa says, HEY, ROBOT, YOU CAN'T DO THAT TO ME.

[Door slamming, door squeaking, banging, dramatic music plays]

The robot slams the door. Louisa opens the door.

Louisa shouts, MR. E!

Mr. E. says, WHAT HAPPENED? IS SOMETHING WRONG?

[Door slamming, Mr. E. gasping, door opening]

The robot slams the door, and Louisa opens it.

Louisa says, YOUR ROBOT IS VERY RUDE, AND I'M A VERY LOYAL CUSTOMER.

[Door slamming]

The robot slams the door.

Mr. E. says, MALIK, ZADIE, ZEKE, HELP!

[Zooming, whooshing]

Malik, Zadie, and Zeke arrive on the chair and leap off.

The children say, WOMBATS AT YOUR SERVICE.

Mr. E. says, QUICK, THE STOREBOT 3000 KEEPS SHUTTING THE DOOR ON LOUISA. I NEED YOU TO WORK IT UP?

Zadie says, UH, IT'S "WORK IT OUT."

[Door opening]

Louisa opens the door.

Louisa says, IT'S BALLOONIE FOR YOUIE DAY AND I WANT MY BALLOONIE!

[Door slamming, zapping, tense music plays]

The robot shuts the door. Mr. E. turns the robot off.

Mr. E. says, PLEASE FIX THIS BEFORE THE STOREBOT 3000 SLAMS THE DOOR ON ALL MY LOYAL CUSTOMERS.

[Rustling]

Malik takes out the tablet.

Zadie says, I SEE THE PROBLEM. YOU USED THE WRONG BLOCK. YOU USED THE BLOCK WITH THE PICTURE OF THE CLOSED DOOR ON IT. THAT'S WHY THE ROBOT CLOSED THE DOOR.

Zeke says, YOU SHOULD USE THAT BLOCK. IT HAS A PICTURE OF AN OPEN DOOR ON IT, SO THE ROBOT WILL OPEN THE DOOR.

[Slide whistle]

Malik gives the tablet to Mr. E.

Mr. E. says, OKAY, SO I NEED TO PUT THE OPEN-DOOR BLOCK THERE INSTEAD. I DID IT! I DID IT!

The children cheer, YOU DID IT! YOU DID IT!

[Slide whistle, door opening, gentle music plays]

Zadie imagines the robot opening the door and giving Louisa a balloon.

Zadie says, HM, IF YOU WANT THE STOREBOT TO HAND A BALLOON TO EACH CUSTOMER AFTER IT OPENS THE DOOR, THEN WHAT DO YOU DO?

Mr. E. looks at the tablet.

Mr. E. says, ASK IT NICELY?

Zeke says, NOPE, AFTER THE OPEN-DOOR BLOCK, YOU NEED TO PUT A BLOCK WITH A PICTURE OF A BALLOON.

[Horn blowing, beeping, slide whistle, clicking]

Mr. E. looks toward the room with the television. He touches the mop icon, throws the tablet on the chair, and turns on the robot.

Mr. E. says, BACK TO MY SHOW.

[Rustling]

Malik sits on the chair. Zeke and Zadie jump on beside him.

Malik says, MR. E, REMEMBER TO TEST IT OUT. ARE YOU THINKING WHAT I'M THINKING?

Zeke and Zadie say, TOY AISLE!

[Whooshing, whirring, slide whistles, door opening, door closing]

The children drive the chair out of the room. The robot opens the front door and gives Duffy a mop.

Duffy says, UH, THANK YOU? I GUESS IT'S MOPIE FOR YOUIE DAY NOW.

[Upbeat music plays]

Louisa asks, WHY'D MR. E. CHANGE THIS TO A MOPIE FOR YOUIE DAY?

Mr. E. says, HUH?

[Guitar riff plays, door opening, slide whistle]

Kat looks at a mop. Leiko plays her mop like a guitar. The robot opens the door and gives JunJun a mop.

Mr. E. says, ROBOT, YOU MADE A MISTAKE! YOU'RE FIRED!

[Beeping]

Mr. E. turns off the robot. The wombat children watch him from the chair.

Zadie says, ACTUALLY, IT'S JUST A PROGRAMMING MISTAKE.

[Slide whistle, gentle music plays]

Zeke jumps off the chair and holds the tablet out to Mr. E.

Zadie says, LOOK, MR. E.

Mr. E. says, OH, MR. E, YOU PLACED THE MOP BLOCK INSTEAD OF THE BALLOON BLOCK.

Malik says, WHICH IS WHY THE ROBOT IS GIVING OUT MOPS TO EVERYONE WHO COMES INTO THE STORE.

Mr. E. says, I WAS IN SUCH A RUSH TO SEE THE RACE, I MADE A CARELESS MISTAKE.

[Crying]

Mr. E. drops to his knees and holds his head.

Mr. E. asks, HOW CAN I EVER FORGIVE MYSELF?!

Zeke says, IT'S OKAY, MR. E. YOU CAN FIX IT. I BELIEVE IN YOU.

Mr. E. says, YOU'RE RIGHT, ZEKE. I CAN FIX THIS. PICTURE OF OPEN DOOR, PICTURE OF A BALLOON.

[Beeping]

Mr. E. moves icons on the tablet.

Mr. E. says, AND THEN THE CLOSE DOOR BLOCK SO THAT THE ROBOT CLOSES THE DOOR, AND RED BLOCK FOR THE END OF THE PROGRAM. FINISHED.

[Beeping]

Mr. E. turns on the robot.

Mr. E. says, BACK TO MY RACE!

[Door squeaking, opening, bright music plays]

The robot opens the door and gives Sammy a bunch of balloons.

Sammy says, HUH?

[Slide whistle, door closing, upbeat music plays]

Sammy floats up to the ceiling.

Sammy says, I ALWAYS WANTED TO FLY, BUT NOT THIS WAY. CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME GET DOWN, PLEASE?

Malik shouts, HANG ON, SAMMY, WE'LL GET YOU DOWN!

Zeke shouts, MR. E!

[Boinging, exciting music plays]

Zeke and Zadie kneel on the floor, and Malik jumps on their backs.

Mr. E. says, HUH? HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?

[Slide whistle]

Mr. E. climbs onto Malik’s shoulders. He unties the balloons from Sammy’s tail, holding onto just one. They float to the floor.

Sammy says, PHEW, THAT WAS A CLOSE ONE.

Mr. E. says, I'M SORRY, SAMMY. HERE, HAVE A BALLOON.

Sammy says, I THINK I'VE HAD ENOUGH BALLOONS FOR ONE DAY, BUT THANKS.

Mr. E. says, WHY, OH, WHY DID THE ROBOT HAND OUT SO MANY BALLOONS?!

[Beeping]

Mr. E. turns off the robot.

Zadie says, HM.

[Slide whistle]

Zadie looks at the tablet.

Zadie says, OH, YOU USED THE WRONG BLOCK, MR. E. YOU NEED TO USE THE BLOCK WITH ONE BALLOON ON IT, NOT THE BLOCK WITH LOTS OF BALLOONS.

[Soft music plays]

Zadie gives the table to Mr. E.

Zeke says, FIRST, OPEN THE DOOR.

Malik says, SECOND, GIVE THE CUSTOMER ONE BALLOON, NOT A BUNCH OF BALLOONS.

[Beeping]

Mr. E. switches the balloon icons.

Mr. E. says, THIRD, CLOSE THE DOOR WHEN A CUSTOMER LEAVES. FOURTH, USE THE STOP BLOCK FOR WHEN THE PROGRAM IS FINISHED.

[Beeping, whirring, door opening, slide whistle, upbeat music plays]

Mr. E. turns the robot on. The robot opens the door and gives Amado a balloon. Amado waves and then leaves.

[Amado speaking foreign language, door slamming]

The children cheer, YOU DID IT, MR. E.! YOU WORKED IT OUT!

Mr. E. says, WOW, I GUESS I DID.

[Chuckling]

Mr. E. says, NOW BACK TO MY RACE.

[Whooshing]

Mr. E. runs out of the room, and the wombat children follow him.

Zadie says, LET'S GO WATCH!

On the television, two racers in potato sacks hop across the finish line.

The announcer says, AND THE WINNER OF THIS YEAR'S POTATO SACK RACE IS WILLYAM SPUDDENHEIMER.

[Cheering, happy music plays]

Mr. E. says, HE DID IT! MY FAVOURITE PLAYER WON!

[Whirring, Zeke giggling]

The robot lifts its arms victoriously.

Zeke says, WE PROGRAMMED THE ROBOT TO DO THAT.

[Everyone laughing]

[Upbeat music plays]
