Transcript: Sammy's Primo/Sammy Makes a Day
A staircase spirals around the tree trunk of the Treeborhood. Tiny houses are nestled in the tree. In the Wombat’s house, Malik, a blue-grey wombat; Zadie, a purple wombat; and Zeke, a yellow wombat, sleep in hammocks. They wake up, jump out of their hammocks, and high-five each other. Their grandmother, Super, a blue wombat with pink hair, pours milk and breakfast cereal into their bowls. Zeke holds his stuffed wombat, Snout. The children leave the house and slide across tree branches.
[Slide whistle, rhythmic music plays]

Ellie, an orange moose, jumps on a trampoline, and her blue hat flies off. In a hot air balloon basket, Malik catches the hat and returns it to Ellie.
[Slide whistle, upbeat music plays]
Zadie sings, HEY, I'M ZADIE; BRING ON THE PROBLEMS. TRY SOME DIFFERENT THINGS 'TIL WE SOLVE 'EM.
Zadie puts apples on a table. The apples fall, and Zadie and Mr. E, a green iguana with a black bowler hat, pick the apples up.

Malik sings, I'M MALIK, WE'LL WORK IT OUT, JUST WAIT. WE MAKE SOME PLANS, AND THEN WE BUILD AND CREATE.
Malik rides in a go-kart with his friend JunJun, a pink Philippine Eagle. They both wear helmets.

Sammy and Malik jump onto the end of a tree branch and bounce to a higher branch. Sammy flips as he lands.
Malik says, THIS IS EPIC! HOW DO YOU THINK UP DOING THIS?
[Boinging, slide whistle, rustling, whooshing, grunting]
They bounce to another branch.
Sammy says, I DID SOMETHING LIKE THIS WITH MY MOM IN THE FLOWERHOOD LAST WEEKEND! EXCEPT WE BOINGED OFF FLOWER PETALS, NOT BRANCHES.
[Slide whistle, rustling, upbeat music continues]
Sammy remembers jumping from flower petal to petal with Yolanda.
Sammy and Yolanda say, YEAH!

Malik says, YOU ALWAYS SEEM TO DO FUN THINGS WHEN YOU VISIT YOUR MOM.
Sammy says, EXCEPT I DON'T VISIT HER, I ALSO LIVE WITH HER. SINCE MY PARENTS ARE DIVORCED, I SPEND HALF MY TIME WITH MY MOM IN THE FLOWERHOOD...
[Slide whistle, rustling]
They jump to a higher branch.

Sammy remembers rollerblading on a half-pipe ramp with Yolanda.
Yolanda says, YOU GOT IT! GO, SAMMY, GO!

In the present, Sammy says, AFTER THAT, WE HAD A WATER BALLOON FIGHT...
Sammy remembers throwing a water balloon at Yolanda.
[Slide whistle, rustling, splashing, both laughing]

In a living room, Sammy jumps on a trampoline and flips over a stack of blocks taller than Yolanda. The stack wobbles and falls on them.
Yolanda and Sammy say, OH!
[Slide whistle, both laughing]
In the present, Sammy says, SHE'S ALWAYS PLANNING THE MOST EPIC THINGS FOR US TO DO TOGETHER.
Quique says, THERE YOU ARE. EXCITING NEWS! I GET TO TAKE A SAND SCULPTING CLASS.
Sammy says, COOL.
Sammy and Malik enter Sammy’s house. Quique holds a table displaying a picture of a treasure chest sand sculpture.
Quique says, AND MORE GOOD NEWS! YOUR MOM IS COMING TO HANG OUT WITH YOU WHILE I TAKE THE CLASS. OH, I NEED TO COLLECT MY SAND TOOLS.
[Upbeat music plays]
Sammy says, OH, AND I'M GOING TO PLAN THE MOST EPIC DAY EVER FOR MY MOM! COME ON!
Sammy and Malik stand by a table. Malik holds a blue marker over a piece of paper.

[Slide whistles, boinging, splashing, cheerful music plays]
Sammy imagines Yolanda sitting on the big bouncy blob, a large floaty, on the water. He jumps off a diving board and lands on the other side of the blob, bouncing Yolanda into the water.
[Both laughing]

Malik draws the blob.

[Whooshing, gasping]
Sammy looks around the room and notices video game controllers.

[Slide whistle, rustling, electronic beeping]
Sammy imagines playing the video game on the couch with his mom. Two monsters dance on the television screen.
In reality, Sammy says, LIKE THIS.
[Malik giggling]
Sammy does the worm dance across the floor.
Malik says, THIS IS EPIC.
[Marker scratching]
Malik draws a video game controller.

Sammy imagines looking through a large telescope with Yolanda.
In reality, Malik draws stars on the list.

Malik says, FOURTH, WATCH SHOOTING STARS. GOT IT! SOUNDS LIKE THE DAY WITH YOUR MOM IS GONNA BE...
[Triumphant music plays]
Sammy and Malik say, EPIC!
[Engine revving, whooshing, slide whistle, tires screeching]
Outside, Yolanda rides a motorcycle past Cece and Cece spins. Yolanda rides up a ramp and lands on a tree branch. Yolanda skids to a stop in the elevator beside Ellie.
[Elevator bell dinging, tires screeching, upbeat music plays]
Ellie says, WOW! YOLANDA, I SEE YOU STILL FEEL THE NEED FOR SPEED.
Yolanda says, HEY, ELLIE, YOU KNOW IT. SEE YA.
[Engine revving, elevator door banging]
The elevator goes up, and Yolanda drives out. Sammy and Malik look through a window and watch Yolanda drive toward the house.
Sammy says, SHE'S HERE!
[Rattling]
On the front steps of the house, Quique carries pails and shovels with his tail.
Quique says, HOLA, YOLANDA.
Yolanda says, WHOA! NEED SOME HELP THERE, QUIQUE?
Quique says, THANKS, YOLANDA. I GOT IT. SAMMY'S IN HIS ROOM, AND I'M OFF TO SCULPT SOME SAND. ADIOS!
Quique leaves with his pails and shovels.
Yolanda says, BYE!
[Rustling]
Yolanda slitters into the living room.
Sammy says, MOM!
[Rustling, Yolanda chuckling]
Sammy jumps and wraps Yolanda in a hug.
Yolanda says, SAMMY! AND HEY, MALIK!
Malik says, HI, YOLANDA! I'VE GOTTA GO. I PROMISED SUPER I WOULD HELP DELIVER NEW AUTOMATIC SPAGHETTI FORKS TO THE EAT-AND-GREET.
[Buzzing, slide whistle]
Malik thinks about Super pushing a button on a fork. The fork spins, and spaghetti twirls around it.
In reality, Malik says, PRESS THE BUTTON ON THE HANDLE AND VOILA; YOU HAVE A FORKFUL OF SPAGHETTI. BYE!
[Yolanda chuckling, whooshing]
Malik rolls through the front door.
Yolanda and Sammy say, BYE, MALIK!
[Rustling]
Sammy drops to the floor.
Sammy says, I MADE A LIST OF ALL THE EPIC STUFF WE'RE GONNA DO TODAY. I CALL IT MY LIST OF EPICNESS!
[Paper rustling, triumphant music plays]
Sammy holds up his list.
Yolanda says, COOL! WHAT'S FIRST ON YOUR LIST OF EPICNESS?
Sammy and Yolanda look at the list.
Sammy says, GO-KARTING!
Yolanda says, RACE YA!
[Slide whistle]
Yolanda and Sammy roll out of the house. Later, at the top of Rolly Downy Hill, they sit in their go-karts.
[Tense music plays]
Sammy says, READY, SET... GO!
[Yolanda laughing, tires thumping, exciting music plays]
They race down the hill.
Yolanda says, WHOO!
Sammy says, YEAH!
Yolanda says, WHOO! HAHA!
[Slide whistle, rattling, mud splashing]
They both drive over rocks and launch into the air. Pieces of the go-karts fly off, and Sammy and Yolanda land in mud puddles.
[Yelping]
Sammy says, OH, NO! OUR GO-KARTS ARE BUSTED. THERE GOES OUR FUN.
Yolanda says, WELL, THIS MUD CAN BE FUN. CHECK IT OUT!
[Splashing, slide whistles, splashing]
Yolanda jumps into the mud puddle. She splashes mud at Sammy, and he jumps out of his go-kart.
[Both laughing, slide whistles, mud splashing]
Sammy says, YOU'RE RIGHT! MUD IS KIND OF FUN.
Yolanda and Sammy slither on a path. Sammy looks at his list.
Sammy says, IT'S A BUMMER THE GO-KARTS DIDN'T WORK OUT.
Yolanda says, I HOPE THE SECOND THING ON YOUR LIST OF EPICNESS IS A BATH BECAUSE WE BOTH NEED ONE TO WASH THIS MUD OFF.
[Yolanda chuckling, happy music plays]
Sammy says, THE SECOND THING ISN'T A BATH, BUT IT WILL WASH OFF THE MUD. LOOK.
At Lake Bellyflop, Malik relaxes on the blob. Zadie stands on the diving board with Clyde in line behind her. Kat watches the children from the shore.
Yolanda says, THE BIG BOUNCY BLOB AT LAKE BELLYFLOP.
[Upbeat music plays, slide whistle, splashing]
Zadie jumps onto the blob, and Malik bounces into the lake.
Malik says, YAY!
[Splashing, Zadie and Malik laughing]
Zadie cheers, WHOO!
[Splashing, boinging. Splashing, cheerful music plays]
Cece and Carly surface in the water and climb onto the blob. Zadie jumps into the water.
Carly says, COME ON, CLYDE. JUMP!
Clyde says, I DON'T KNOW. I'M PRETTY HIGH UP.
Yolanda says, IT'S OKAY TO BE NERVOUS, CLYDE. YOU KNOW WHAT I DO WHEN I GET NERVOUS? I HOLLER, "I MAY BE SCARED TO MAKE THE JUMP, BUT I CAN DO IT WITH JUST A LITTLE... OOMPH!"
[Upbeat music plays]

Clyde jumps.
Clyde shouts, AAH!
[Popping, whooshing, splashing]
Clyde’s claw punctures the blob, and he bounces off into the water.

[Air whooshing]
The blob deflates.
Clyde, Cece, Zadie, and Malik say, AWW.
[Sad music plays]
Sammy says, OH, WAIT. IF THE BLOB IS POPPED, WE CAN'T BOUNCE ON IT. AWW. FIRST THE GO-KART FELL APART, AND NOW THE BLOB POPPED. WHY IS EVERYTHING GOING WRONG?
[Upbeat music plays]
Yolanda says, NOT EVERYTHING IS GOING WRONG, SAMMY. WE CAN STILL HAVE FUN IN THE WATER.
[Chiming]
Yolanda says, LET'S SEE... HOW ABOUT A GAME OF GUESS MY SHAPE?
[Creaking]
Yolanda jumps off the diving board and twists into a circle.

[Water splashing]
Yolanda lands in the lake and resurfaces.

Sammy jumps off the diving board and twists into a triangle.

[Upbeat music plays, electronic beeping]
Sammy and Yolanda return to his house.
Sammy says, YOU'RE GONNA LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS. THE THIRD THING ON THE LIST IS... WE'RE GONNA PLAY DANCE MONSTERS DANCE. YOU MAKE YOUR MONSTERS JUMP OVER THE STUFF, AND IF THEY MAKE IT, THEY DANCE.
Yolanda says, UH...
[Chuckling]
Yolanda dances around the room.
Yolanda asks, LIKE THIS?
[Sammy laughing]
Sammy says, YEP. LET ME JUST FIND THE GAME CONTROLLERS. WHERE DID I PUT THEM?
[Slide whistle, thumping, rustling]
Sammy jumps onto the couch and takes the controller from beneath the cushions.
Sammy says, GOT THEM. HERE YOU GO.
[Slide whistle, Yolanda grunting, gasping, slide whistle crashing]
Sammy throws a controller to Yolanda, and it bounces off her tail. She and Sammy dive for the controller, and it smashes on the floor between them.
[Dramatic music plays]
Sammy says, UGH. I CAN'T TAKE IT! FIRST THE GO-KARTS FALL APART, THEN THE BLOB POPPED. NOW, WE CAN'T PLAY THE GAME BECAUSE OF A BUSTED CONTROLLER. WHY IS EVERYTHING GOING WRONG?!
Sammy sticks his head under the couch cushions.
Yolanda asks, IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO HELP?
Sammy shouts, NO! EVERYTHING HAS GONE WRONG!
Yolanda asks, WHAT ABOUT IF I...
[Gasping, chiming, rustling]
Yolanda searches in her bag.
Yolanda says, I KNOW! I KNOW THEY'RE IN HERE SOMEWHERE. OH! THERE YOU ARE!
[Rustling, slide whistle, upbeat music plays]
Yolanda has three glow rings around her neck.
Yolanda says, LOOK, SAMMY, WHEN I WENT TO THE FLOWERHOOD MUSIC FESTIVAL, I USED THESE GLOW RINGS. WHAT DO YOU SAY WE TURN OUT THE LIGHTS AND HAVE OUR OWN DANCE PARTY?
[Clicking]
Yolanda flicks a light switch and turns off the lights.
Yolanda says, THEY'RE NOT WORKING. OH, WAIT! YOU GOTTA SHAKE 'EM TO MAKE 'EM WORK. TAKE THESE TWO AND DANCE WITH ME, SAMMY.
[Yolanda grunting, slide whistle, gentle music plays]
Yolanda dances, and the rings glow. She puts two rings around Sammy’s neck.
Sammy says, OKAY.
Sammy and Yolanda dance. He stops dancing and looks at the floor.
Sammy says, UM, I DON'T REALLY FEEL LIKE DANCING.
[Clicking, sad music plays]
Sammy turns on the light. He takes his list out and looks at it.
Sammy says, I REALLY WANT TO DO THE THINGS I HAD ON MY LIST. THE GO-KARTS, THE BIG BOUNCY BLOB, THE VIDEO GAME, AND...
Yolanda says, AND WHAT?
Sammy says, THERE IS ONE MORE THING. FOURTH, WATCHING THE SHOOTING STARS.
Yolanda says, WELL, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE SHOOTING STARS. LET'S DO THAT.
[Thumping, upbeat music plays]
Sammy and Yolanda bounce up the stairs to the deck of the Starlight Room. They slither towards the telescope.
Sammy says, I WANT TO MAKE A BAZILLION WISHES ON SHOOTING STARS.
Yolanda asks, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO WISH FOR?
Sammy says, FOR EVERYTHING.
[Wind gusting, rain pittering]
Sammy and Yolanda peer through the telescope. Clouds block the stars, and rain falls.
Sammy says, OH, NO! THE CLOUDS ARE BLOCKING THE STARS! I CAN'T TAKE IT! EVERYTHING I PLANNED FOR YOU HAS GONE WRONG.
Yolanda says, IT'S OKAY, SAMMY.
Sammy says, NO, IT'S NOT.
[Sad music plays, slide whistle]
Sammy and Yolanda return to his house. He hurries up a ladder to his room and hides under a blanket on his bed.
Yolanda says, SAMMY, WAIT FOR ME! I KNOW YOU'RE SAD AND DISAPPOINTED, SAMMY, BUT SOMETIMES, THINGS DON'T GO THE WAY YOU PLANNED AND THAT REALLY STINKS. BUT I STILL HAD A LOT OF FUN.
[Upbeat music plays]
Sammy asks, HOW? WE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING.
[Yolanda chuckling, paper rustling, dinging]
Yolanda sits on the bed beside Sammy and looks at the list.
Yolanda says, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I KNOW, FIRST, WE WERE SUPPOSED TO GO GO-KARTING, BUT WE DID GET REALLY MUDDY, AND I LOVE GETTING MUDDY.
Number one on the list is the go-kart drawing. Yolanda remembers laughing with Sammy in the mud.
In the present, Yolanda says, SECOND, WE WERE SUPPOSED TO BOUNCE ON THE BIG BOUNCY BLOB, AND WE DIDN'T, BUT...
Number two on the list is the blob drawing. Yolanda remembers making a wiggly line with Sammy.
In the present, Yolanda says, WE DID GET TO DIVE INTO THE WATER AND MAKE SHAPES.
Number three on the list is the drawing of the video game controller. Yolanda remembers dancing with Sammy.
In the present, Yolanda says, AND THIRD, WE DIDN'T PLAY THE VIDEO GAME, BUT WE STILL DANCED, EVEN WHEN THE MONSTERS COULDN'T. SEE? WE STILL MADE THE DAY AS FUN AS POSSIBLE.
[Paper rustling, upbeat music plays]
Yolanda takes a book off a shelf.
Yolanda says, SO, MAYBE INSTEAD OF LOOKING AT STARS TOGETHER, WE CAN READ A BOOK FROM YOUR FAVOURITE SERIES, THE MYSTERY FILES OF DETECTIVE RUFFERTON.
Sammy says, GREAT IDEA, MOM.
Yolanda opens the book.
Yolanda reads, "IT WAS A DARK AND RAINY NIGHT IN THE CITY WHEN..."
[Zapping, tinking]
The lights go out.
Sammy says, UNBELIEVABLE.
[Rain pittering]
Yolanda says, IT LOOKS LIKE THE HEAVY RAIN KNOCKED OUT THE POWER.
Sammy says, EVERYTHING HAS GONE SO WRONG, IT'S ACTUALLY... REALLY KIND OF FUNNY.
[Both laughing, upbeat music plays]
Sammy says, I HAVE ONE MORE IDEA.
Yolanda says, OH, WHAT'S THAT?
Sammy says, LET’S SHAKE.
[Both laughing]
In the darkness, Sammy and Yolanda shake, and their glow rings light up.
Yolanda says, OH!
Sammy says, AND LOOK, WE CAN STILL READ THE BOOK.
Yolanda says, I WILL NEVER FORGET ANY OF THIS: THE MOST EPIC DAY EVER!
[Rain pittering, gentle music plays]
Yolanda reads, "IT WAS A DARK AND RAINY NIGHT IN THE CITY, WHEN DETECTIVE RUFFERTON DISCOVERED THE EMPTY MUFFIN TRAY. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MUFFINS?"
[Upbeat music plays, slide whistle]
Malik and Zadie dance. Zadie turns into a lemon.
Malik sings, A LEMON AND AN ORANGE.
Malik turns into an orange.
Zadie sings, THEY'RE AS ROUND AS THEY CAN BE.
Malik sings, BOTH OF THEM ARE FRUIT.
[Slide whistle]
Malik and Zadie hold orange and lemon slices.

[Slurping]
Malik tastes the orange slice and smiles. Zadie tastes the lemon slice and grimaces.

Zadie turns into a mango, and Malik turns into a banana.
Zadie sings, A MANGO AND BANANA.
Malik sings, THEY BOTH GROW ON A TREE.
Zadie sings, BOTH OF THEM ARE YELLOW.
[Whooshing]
The banana and mango spin.
Both sings, BUT THEY'RE DIFFERENT SHAPES, YOU SEE?
[Water splashing]
Ice floats on water in a cup.
Malik sings, COLD, COLD, COLD.
[Water splashing]
Steaming water pours into a teacup.
Zadie sings, HOT, HOT, HOT.
Malik sings, SOME THINGS ARE THE SAME.

Malik runs away from Zadie and Zeke. At Sammy and Quique’s house, Sammy pokes his head through the hole leading to his attic bedroom.

In the living room, Quique replies, NOT YET.
Sammy asks, HOW ABOUT NOW? IS HE HERE?
Quique replies, NO, BUT I DO HOPE HE GETS HERE SOON. I'VE GOT A CLASS TO TEACH.
Sammy asks, WHAT ABOUT NOW?
[Quique laughing]

[Squeaking, slide whistle, bright music plays]
Sammy slides down a slide from his bedroom to the living room. Quique loads blue water balloons into a wagon.

Quique takes a photograph of toddler Sammy and the purple and orange snake off the wall.
Quique replies, THIS WAS TAKEN FIVE YEARS AGO, WHEN YOUR LITTLE PRIMO BENITO LAST VISITED.

Yolanda and Sammy roll out of the house. Later, at the top of Rolly Downy Hill, they sit in their go-karts.

Sammy and Yolanda return to his house. He hurries up a ladder to his room and hides under a blanket on his bed.
Yolanda says, SAMMY, WAIT FOR ME! I KNOW YOU'RE SAD AND DISAPPOINTED, SAMMY, BUT SOMETIMES, THINGS DON'T GO THE WAY YOU PLANNED AND THAT REALLY STINKS. BUT I STILL HAD A LOT OF FUN.

Sammy slides down a slide from his bedroom to the living room. Quique loads blue water balloons into a wagon.

Quique takes a photograph of toddler Sammy and the purple and orange snake off the wall.
Quique replies, THIS WAS TAKEN FIVE YEARS AGO, WHEN YOUR LITTLE PRIMO BENITO LAST VISITED.
Sammy says, PRIMO?
Quique says, THAT MEANS "COUSIN" IN ESPANOL. YOU REMEMBER BENITO ONLY SPEAKS SPANISH, RIGHT?
Sammy says, OH, YEAH. BUT I ONLY SPEAK A LITTLE SPANISH, DAD.
Quique says, THAT'S OKAY. I SPEAK BOTH ENGLISH AND ESPANOL AND CAN HELP TRANSLATE.
[Squeaking]
Sammy bounces around Quique.
Sammy says, OKAY! SINCE BENITO IS MY YOUNGER COUSIN, ER, PRIMO, I HOPE WE CAN FIND SOMETHING FUN TO DO TOGETHER...IF HE EVER GETS HERE.
[Quique beatboxing, Sammy chuckling, upbeat music plays]
Sammy raps, TODAY'S THE DAY I GET TO PLAY WITH MY PRIMO, HIS NAME'S BENITO. LET'S HAVE SOME FUN, ME AND MY CREW. TIME TO WORK OUT WHAT WE'LL DO.
[Knocking, Sammy gasping]
Sammy says, MY PRIMO BENITO IS FINALLY HERE! OH, IT'S JUST MALIK. COME IN.
[Sliding door rumbling]
Sammy opens a door, and Malik enters the living room.
Malik says, HI, SAMMY! IS YOUR LITTLE COUSIN HERE YET?
[Door rumbling shut]
Sammy says, NOPE, BUT HE SHOULD BE HERE ANY MINUTE!
[Knocking, upbeat music plays]
The purple and orange snake, Benito, waves through the sliding door. He is almost twice Sammy’s length.
Malik says, I THOUGHT HE WAS YOUR LITTLE COUSIN.
[Sliding door rumbling]
Sammy says, HI BENITO! I'M YOUR BIG I MEAN OLDER COUSIN. AND WE'RE GONNA HAVE A GREAT TIME.
Benito says, QUÉ DIJO?
[Door rumbling shut]
Quique says, SAMMY, I'M GOING TO TELL BENITO WHAT YOU SAID IN SPANISH. HOLA BENITO, SOY TU PRIMO GRANDE ME REFIERO PRIMO MAYOR. Y VAMOS A PASAR UN BUEN RATO.
Benito says, ESTOY MUY CONTENTO DE VERTE, SAMMY.
Benito wraps around Sammy.
Sammy and Malik say, HUH?
Quique says, BENITO SAYS HE'S HAPPY TO SEE YOU, SAMMY.
Benito says, SÍ, MUY, UH, HAPPY.
[Boinging, squeaking]
Sammy and Benito bounce.
Quique says, I BETTER GET GOING. I'LL HELP TRANSLATE WHEN I GET BACK FROM TEACHING MY WATER BALLOON JUGGLING CLASS. VOY A ENSEÑAR UNA CLASE DE MALABARES CON GLOBOS DE AGUA.
[Slide whistles, splashing, everyone laughing, bright music plays]
Quique juggles water balloons, and one breaks on his head. A second balloon falls and breaks on his head.
Sammy says, BUT DAD, HOW CAN WE TALK TO BENITO, IF WE DON'T SPEAK THE SAME LANGUAGE AND YOU AREN'T HERE TO TRANSLATE FOR US? HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT HE WANTS TO DO?
[Rustling, upbeat music plays]
Quique puts on his hat.
Quique says, I'M SURE YOU'LL WORK IT OUT AND FIND A WAY TO COMMUNICATE WITH EACH OTHER UNTIL I GET BACK. BE CREATIVE. DILES QUE QUIERES HACER. ADIOS.
[Squeaking, door rumbling]
Quique opens the door and pulls his wagon through.
Benito says, SI.
[Door rumbling]
Malik slides the door shut.
Sammy says, UH...
Malik says, UH...
Benito says, AHA!
Benito says, QUIERO DESLIZARME...
[Splashing, upbeat music plays]
Benito thinks about playing at the Squirt ‘N Splash Sprinkler Park.
In reality, Benito says, EN EL PARQUE DE AGUA.
Malik says, UH, WHAT'D HE SAY?
Sammy says, WELL, I KNOW "JUGAR" MEANS "PLAY," BUT PLAY WHAT?
Benito says, QUIERO DESLIZARME...
[Crashing, slide whistle]
Benito knocks over a canvas, books, and pails.
Benito says, EN EL PARQUE DE AGUA.
[All laughing, rustling]
Benito slides across the floor in front of Malik and Sammy.
Malik says, HMM, IT LOOKS LIKE HE'S SLIDING. AND YOU CAN SLIDE ON A SLED.
[Slide whistle, wind gusting]
Malik imagines sledding down a hill with the abominable snowman behind him. Sammy and Benito ride on a sled beside him.
Malik says, SO, THAT MUST MEAN HE WANTS TO GO SLEDDING WITH THE ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN!
Sammy says, THAT SOUNDS FUN, BUT I THINK IT LOOKS LIKE BENITO IS SLIDING DOWN A SLIDE.
[Dinging, door rumbling, upbeat music plays]
Malik says, I KNOW! LET'S GO SLIDE DOWN THE TREEBORHOOD SLIDES!
[Whooping, squeaking, slide whistles, shouting, laughing]
They slide down a slide.
Malik shouts, WHEE!
Sammy shouts, YAY!
[Gentle music plays]
On the ground, Louisa lies outside of Super’s office. She draws on a notepad, and a unicorn stuffy rests beside her.
Louisa says, IT’S SO HOT.
Louisa draws a fan and shows her stuffy.
Louisa says, I MADE YOU A FAN, SIR SNUGGLES. DID YOU NOT KNOW? IT REALLY WORKS. SEE?
[Rustling, slide whistle]
Louisa fans her stuffy, Sir Snuggles, with her notepad, and he tips over.
[Tense music plays]
Malik, Sammy and Benito roll out of the slide towards Louisa and Sir Snuggles.
Malik cheers, WOO HOO!
Sammy says, YAY!
[Slide whistles, thumping]
Benito, Malik, and Sammy land in a pile.
Sammy says, HUH.
[Whooshing]
Sammy takes his hat off Malik’s head and puts it on.
Louisa says, HEY, DID YOU NOT KNOW THAT YOU ALMOST HURT SIR SNUGGLES?
Sammy says, SORRY ABOUT THAT. OH, LOUISA, THIS IS MY COUSIN, BENITO.
[Gentle music plays]
Louisa says, HI, I'M LOUISA AND THIS IS SIR SNUGGLES.
Benito says, AH, HOLA, LOUISA. HOLA, SR. SNUGGLES.
Sammy asks, SO, PRIMO, WAS THAT WHAT YOU WANTED TO PLAY? UH, JUGAR?
Benito fans himself with his tail.
Benito says, NO, QUIERO JUGAR EN EL PARQUE DE AGUA. HACE MUCHO CALOR AFUERA.
Sammy says, IT LOOKS LIKE HE'S DANCING. IS THIS WHAT YOU WANTED TO PLAY?
[Sammy beatboxing, upbeat music plays]
Malik dances.
Benito says, NO.
Louisa asks, UH... DID YOU NOT KNOW IT ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE BENITO'S HOT AND FANNING HIMSELF, LIKE I DID TO SIR SNUGGLES?
[Whooshing]
Louisa fans Benito with her notepad.
Benito says, PUEDO DIBUJAR EN EL CUADERNO?
[Slide whistle]
Malik says, IT LOOKS LIKE HE WANTS TO USE LOUISA'S NOTEPAD TO DRAW WHAT HE WANTS TO PLAY.
[Dinging, whooshing]
Louisa yanks her notepad away.
Louisa says, I CAN'T JUST GIVE AWAY MY NOTEBOOK. GOT ANYTHING TO TRADE FOR IT?
Malik says, HMM...HOW ABOUT THIS YOYO?
[Plopping]
Malik takes a yoyo out of his pocket.
Louisa says, NAH, I ALREADY HAVE ONE. WHAT ELSE YOU GOT?
Malik says, HMM...
[Ticking, chiming]
Malik takes a stick of gum and sparkly lint out of his pockets.
Louisa says, WHOA, THIS LINT HAS GLITTER IN IT.
Malik says, YEAH, I FOUND IT IN MY SPARKLE PANTS POCKET.
Louisa says, IT'S THE PERFECT ADDITION TO MY LINT COLLECTION. YOU'VE GOT A DEAL.
[Slide whistle]
Louisa holds her notepad and pencil out to Benito.
Sammy says, SO, PRIMO, JUGAR WHAT?
[Slide whistle, water splashing, upbeat music plays, pencil scratching]
Benito imagines four mushroom-shaped sprinklers and the round device at the Squirt 'N' Splash Sprinkler Park.
Benito says, JUGAR EN EL PARQUE DE AGUA.
[Slide whistle, upbeat music continues]
Sammy imagines a pizza.
Sammy says, IT LOOKS LIKE A LARGE, CHEESY PIZZA WITH GREEN PEPPERS. MMM...
Malik says, YEAH, BUT YOU DON'T PLAY WITH A PIZZA. I THINK IT LOOKS LIKE... A BALL.
[Slide whistle]
Malik images a ball.
Louisa says, NUHUH. THAT IS ELLIE'S TRAMPOLINE.
[Slide whistle, rustling]
Louisa imagines a trampoline.
Louisa says, SEE THOSE LINES SHOOTING OUT OF THE CIRCLE? THOSE ARE BOUNCES.
Sammy says, I THINK YOU MIGHT BE RIGHT. OFF TO ELLIE'S.
Louisa says, SEE YOU LATER.
Malik, Sammy, and Benito slide down a branch.
[Elevator bell dinging, slide whistle, upbeat music plays]
[Laughing, slide whistle]
Sammy cheers, WHEE!
[Slide whistle]
Malik cheers, WOO HOO, WOOHOO!
Sammy says, YEAH!
They land in a tire swing and swing high in the air. By her house, Elle is strapped into her hang glider. She looks up.
[Slide whistle]
Ellie says, HUH?
Malik says, WHOO!
Malike, Sammy, and Benito land on the trampoline and bounce.
[Rattling, giggling, slide whistle]
Sammy asks, IS THIS WHAT YOU WANTED TO PLAY? UH, JUGAR?
[Slide whistle, trampoline rattling]
Benito and Sammy jump off the trampoline, and Ellie walks to them.
Benito says, NO, PERO FUE MUY DIVERTIDO.
Benito says, HOLA ELLIE.
Ellie says, HOLA BENITO. YOU HAVE GOTTEN MUY GRANDE. BIENVENIDO DE NUEVO AL TREEBORHOOD.
Benito says, GRACIAS, ME SIENTO MUY...HAPPY AQUI.
Sammy says, NO WAY, ELLIE. YOU CAN SPEAK SPANISH?
Ellie says, WELL, I ACTUALLY ONLY SPEAK A LITTLE SPANISH. HOLA, AMIGO. BUT I'M FLUENT IN JAMAICAN PATOIS. YO, BREDREN!
[Whooshing]
The wind pushes Ellie’s hang glider backwards.
Ellie says, AAH!
Sammy says, PERFECT! CAN YOU ASK BENITO WHAT HE WANTS TO PLAY, THEN TRANSLATE WHAT HE SAYS FOR US?
Ellie says, SURE. QUÉ QUIERES HACER?
Benito says, JUGAR EN EL PARQUE DE AGUA.
Ellie says, AHH... BENITO WANTS TO…WHOA!
[Whooshing, slide whistle]
The wind blows Ellie and her hang glider away.
Ellie says, IT'S SO WINDY! HE WANTS TO PLAY AT...
Sammy and Malik say, AWW.
[Pencil scratching]
Benito draws on the notepad.
Sammy says, HMM...I STILL THINK THE DRAWING LOOKS LIKE A PIZZA, WITH DRIPPY CHEESE.
Malik says, WELL, YOU DON'T PLAY WITH A PIZZA. BUT I'M HUNGRY. SO, PIZZA IT IS! LET'S GO TO THE EAT ‘NGREET.
[Cheering, laughing, upbeat music plays, slide whistles, plate banging]
They jump off Ellie’s deck and land beside a zipline. Everyone puts on helmets, and they slide on the line. At the Eat ‘N Greet Café, Duffy puts a cheesy pizza with green peppers on their table.
Malik asks, IS PIZZA WHAT YOU WANTED? IT'S A CIRCLE, LIKE YOU'RE DRAWING.
[Slide whistles]
Malik traces the circular shape of the pizza and the drawing with his finger.
Benito says, NO.
[Munching]
Benito eats a slice of pizza.
Benito says, MMM. LA PIZZA ESTA DELICIOSA. PERO, QUÉ TAL EL PARQUE DE AGUA?
[Clattering, squeaking, upbeat music plays]
Duffy puts a water jug and cups on the table. Benito points at the water jug with his tail.
Benito says, OYE, MIRA. ESO ES AGUA.
Sammy and Malik say, "AGUA" MEANS "WATER."
Benito says, SÍ! WATER.
Sammy says, SO, WHAT DO WE KNOW SO FAR? WE KNOW THAT "JUGAR" MEANS "PLAY."
Malik says, AND "AGUA" MEANS "WATER." JUGAR, AGUA.
[Both gasping]
Sammy and Malik say, HE MUST WANT TO PLAY WITH WATER.
Benito says, SI, PLAY WITH WATER.
[Slide whistles, upbeat music plays]
Later, Sammy, Malik, and Benito juggle water balloons.
Sammy asks, IS THIS JUGAR AGUA? SI, OR NO?
Benito says, NO.
A water balloon breaks and Sammy slips in the puddle. A second balloon bursts on his head.
[Slide whistle, splashing, all laughing]
[Rustling]
On a beach, Malik pokes a paper boat with a stick. Three boats sail away from the shore.
Sammy asks, IS THIS JUGAR AGUA? SI, OR NO?
Benito says, NO.
[Rustling]
Later, Sammy, Benito, and Malik cram into a small child’s water pool.
Sammy asks, IS THIS JUGAR AGUA?
Benito says, NO.
[Popping, splashing, yelping]
The pool bursts and the children slide across a deck and into a slide.
Sammy shouts, YIPPEE!
[Slide whistle, water splashing, laughing]
Malik shouts, WHEE!
They slide out by the Sow and Grow Garden.
Sammy asks, IS THIS JUGAR AGUA?
[Slide whistle]
Benito shakes his head.
Benito says, NO, NO, NO! PLAY PARQUE DE WATER.
[Sad music plays]
Sammy says, I DON'T KNOW WHAT HE WANTS. WE'VE PLAYED EVERY PLACE THERE'S WATER IN THE TREEBORHOOD.
[Gasping]
Malik says, NOT EVERY PLACE THERE'S WATER. COME ON!
[Creaking, whirring, upbeat music plays, slide whistles]
Malik, Sammy, and Benito ride on a gondola. Malik holds Benito’s drawing and looks out the window at the Squirt 'N' Splash Sprinkler Park.
Malik says, LOOK, THERE'S A CIRCLE IN THE DRAWING AND AT THE SQUIRT 'N' SPLASH.
Sammy says, AND THAT'S WATER SHOOTING UP.
Sammy asks, IS THAT JUGAR AGUA? SÍ OR NO?
Benito says, SÍ, SÍ. JUGAR EN EL PARQUE DE AGUA.
[Cheering, boinging]
Benito bounces excitedly.
[Splashing, slide whistles, cheering]
At the Squirt 'N' Splash Sprinkler Park, Louisa holds Sir Snuggles and jumps in a puddle. Sammy, Malik, and Benito ride on the waterspout.
Malik says, YEAH!
Sammy says, WHEE!
They slide across the ground.
[Slide whistle]
Malik, Sammy, and Benito stand up. Sammy bounces.
Sammy says, WE WORKED IT OUT! BENITO, YOU WANT TO PLAY HERE AT SPRINKLER PARK AND SLIDE DOWN THE SLIDE; THAT'S WHY YOU SLID ACROSS MY FLOOR.
Benito says, SÍ.
[Rap music plays]
Sammy raps, TODAY'S THE DAY I GOT TO PLAY. WITH MY PRIMO, HIS NAME'S BENITO. WE WORKED IT OUT, WHAT TO DO. NOW, HE'S PART OF THE TREEBORHOOD CREW!
[Children cheering]
Benito cheers, WOO HOO!
[Creaking, slide whistle, splashing]
The elevated pool of water tips onto Malik, Sammy, and Benito. The other children run away.
[Everyone laughing]
