Speaking into a megaphone, Pigeon Post says, LISTEN UP, CAMPERS. WE NEED TO GET THIS CAMP READY FOR WINTER, EH? SO, EH...
In a clearing, Pigeon Post stands on a tree stump. Two flamingos gather sticks and carry them past Pigeon Post. A blue and orange bird gathers leaves. Thelma picks up a blue kite.
[Leaves rustling]
Pigeon Post says, KEEP DOING WHAT YOU'RE ALREADY DOING.
The flamingos add their sticks to a large nest. Two swans put leaves on the nest. A peacock knits a pink scarf. Two canaries hold a blanket in the air, and the third canary hits it with a stick. A cloud of dust lifts from the blanket.
[Giggling, chattering, humming, thumping]
Odo and Doodle carry a large bowl filled with acorns into the clearing. They stop beside Thelma and put the bowl down.
[Background giggling, gentle music plays]
Thelma says, ODO, DOODLE, WILL YOU HELP ME LAUNCH MY KITE?
Odo says, WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BE GETTING READY FOR WINTER, THELMA. NOT FLYING KITES.
Thelma says, IN THE WINTER, CLOUDS COVER THE SUN. SO I'M GOING TO PUT MY OWN SUN IN THE SKY.
Thelma turns her kite, revealing a picture of the sun.
Odo says, AHHH.
Doodle says, I FEEL WARMER ALREADY.
Odo runs to a tree stump. He holds the kite and looks down at Thelma on the grass.
[Odo giggling]
Odo asks, THELMA, READY?
Thelma says, MM.
Odo throws the kite, and the wind lifts it. The kite pulls Thelma off the ground.
[Odo grunting, wind whooshing, cheering, Thelma exclaims, whooshing, laughing]
Three chickens—orange, red, and brown—arrive on stilts.
[Clucking]
Odo asks, WHY ARE YOU CHICKENS UP ON STILTS?
Thelma blows past the chickens.
[Wind whooshing, Thelma laughing]
The brown chicken says, WE'RE PRACTICING FOR WHEN THE SNOW COMES. WE'LL BE HIGH AND DRY.
The chickens fall to the ground.
[Squawking, thumping, Odo and Doodle laughing]
The kite pulls Thelma through the air.
[Wind gusting, Odo gasping]
Odo says, MARTIN?
Martin and his dad arrive with the camp leader.
The campers shout, MARTIN!
Doodle says, YOU'RE BACK!
[Campers giggling]
Doodle says, JUST IN TIME FOR WINTER.
Martin’s dad says, PERFECT TIMING, EH? WE MARTINS LOVE THE WINTER. RIGHT, SON?
Odo asks, WANT TO HELP US GET CAMP READY FOR THE COLD?
Thelma blows past.
[Laughing]
The camp leader says, MARTIN WILL JOIN IN, BUT MAYBE A BIT LATER.
Martin hugs his dad. His dad puts down a brown suitcase.
[Martin sniffling, gentle music plays]
Martin’s dad says, I'LL BE BACK AS SOON AS I CAN, OKAY?
Martin hugs his dad.
[Martin sniffling, his dad sighing]
Martin says, UH...
Martin’s dad takes off and flies away from the clearing.
[Birds chirping]
The campers say, HUH?
The camp leader asks, CAN I TAKE YOUR SUITCASE?
Martin says, MM.
Martin picks up his suitcase and runs to the tree stump. He sits with his back to everyone. Thelma flies overhead.
[Thelma laughing]

All of the campers except Odo and Doodle walk away from the stump. Odo and Doodle approach Martin’s back.
[Wings flapping, gentle music plays]
Odo says, ME AND DOODLE ARE COLLECTING ACORNS FOR THE WINTER. WANNA HELP?
Martin says, THANKS BUT...I THINK I'LL JUST SIT HERE AND WAIT FOR MY DAD.
Odo says, UM...
Doodle says, OH.
[Whooshing, birds singing]
In a cabin, the camp leader puts a blanket in a hammock over a cabinet.
Doodle says, WE'RE WORRIED ABOUT MARTIN, CAMP LEADER.
Odo says, WE ASKED HIM TO HELP US GET READY FOR WINTER.
Doodle says, HE SAID THAT HE JUST WANTS TO SIT AND WAIT FOR HIS DAD.
The camp leader says, MARTIN IS GOING THROUGH A VERY HARD TIME. YOU SEE, HIS HOME WAS DESTROYED BY A TERRIBLE STORM.
In a flashback, Martin and his dad leave a nest on the ground. A red bird stuffy lies beside the nest.
[Wind gusting]
Martin shouts, BERTY!
In the present, the camp leader says, SO NOW, MARTIN'S DAD HAS TO HELP THE OTHER BIRDS REBUILD THEIR OLD HOMES. AND UNTIL THEY DO, MARTIN WILL BE STAYING HERE WITH US. AND WE HAVE TO MAKE HIM FEEL AT HOME. CAN YOU DO THAT?
Odo says, HUH? I KNOW WE CAN.
Doodle nods.
[Whooshing, birds singing]
Later, Odo bounces a pinecone off his knee, head, and bottom.
[Odo grunting, thumping, upbeat music plays]
Odo says, TO DOODLE!
Doodle says, TO MARTIN!
The pinecone lands in front of Martin, and he kicks it to Odo. Martin’s shoulders slump, and he stares down at the ground.
[Grass rustling]
Martin says, TO ODO.
Odo stares down at the pinecone.
[Thelma giggling]
Doodle cheers, YAY, MARTIN!
Thelma says, COMIN' IN! OOH!

Martin opens his suitcase and stops.
[Clicking, birds chirping]
Martin says, OH. BUT... I WON'T STILL BE HERE IN WINTER. SO...

Martin says, NO! I'M GOING BACK TO THE LOG TO WAIT FOR MY DAD!
Martin grabs his suitcase and runs away from Odo and Doodle.
[Panting]

Odo’s mum says, WE HEARD ABOUT MARTIN AND WE'VE BROUGHT SOME THINGS FOR HIM.
Odo’s dad asks, ARE YOU OKAY, ODO?
Odo says, WE TRIED TO MAKE MARTIN FEEL AT HOME BUT WE COULDN'T.
Doodle says, HE JUST RAN AWAY FROM US.
Odo hugs his mum.
[Odo sniffling]
Odo says, I FEEL LIKE IT WAS MY FAULT. LIKE I SAID SOMETHING WRONG.
Odo’s mum says, OH, DARLING. IT'S NO ONE'S FAULT.
Odo says, BUT... I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!
Odo’s dad says, WELL, WE CAN TRY TO UNDERSTAND HOW SAD MARTIN IS ABOUT LOSING HIS HOME.
The camp leader says, AND NOT PUSH HIM TO FEEL LIKE CAMP IS HOME RIGHT AWAY.
Behind some bushes, Martin says, HUH?
