Bud says, OH YEAH!
[Everyone laughing]
Odo says, BUD AND LOUIE ARE SO FUNNY!
Doodle says, I HAVE A JOKE.
Odo says, HUH?
Bud says, GO ON, THEN!
Doodle says, OKAY!
Doodle walks onto the stage.
[Rustling, upbeat music plays]
Doodle says, UM...KNOCK, KNOCK.
The campers ask, WHO'S THERE?
Doodle says, UH... TO GET TO THE OTHER SIDE!
[Cricket chirping, a pink flamingo clearing his throat]
(CLEARING THROAT)
Odo says, OH, UH, HA-HA!
Louie says, NOW, PUT YOUR WINGS TOGETHER FOR THE MUSICAL STYLINGS OF THE CANARY CHOIR!
Three yellow canaries land on the stage.
[Canaries singing]
The campers say, WOW...!
[Canaries singing, laughing]
Doodle droops and walks off the stage.
[Footsteps rustling, sad music plays]
Odo says, HM...
In a clearing, Doodle sits on a tree stump.
[Birds chirping, Doodle sighing sadly]
Odo asks, DOODLE, ARE YOU ALRIGHT?
Doodle asks, ODO, DO YOU THINK I'M FUNNY?
Odo replies, SURE!
Odo hops up on the stump and sits beside Doodle.
[Grunting, sad music continues]
Odo says, YOU MAKE ME LAUGH ALL THE TIME!
Doodle says, BUT I WANT TO MAKE EVERYONE LAUGH! LIKE BUD AND LOUIE DO.
Odo says, YOU DO MAKE EVERYONE LAUGH!
[Doodle sighing]
Odo says, BUT...
Odo jumps down to the grass.
[Grunting]
Odo continues, IF YOU WANT, MAYBE BUD AND LOUIE CAN TEACH YOU TO BE A WEE BIT FUNNIER?
Doodle says, OH. UN-HUH!
[Whooshing, birds chirping]
Later, Doodle and Odo run across a tree branch.
[Bud and Louie laughing]
Doodle says, EXCUSE ME... COULD YOU TEACH ME HOW TO BE FUNNY?
Louie says, WELL, THAT DEPENDS ON WHAT KIND OF FUNNY YOU WANT TO BE.

[Laughing]
Bud says, YOU'VE GOT IMPRESSIONS...
Louie, imitating the Camp Leader, says, GOOD MORNING, CAMPERS!
[Laughing]
Bud says, THEN, THERE'S SLAPSTICK, IRONY, WIT, SATIRE, SKETCH...
Doodle says, I DIDN'T KNOW BEING FUNNY WAS SO COMPLICATED!
Odo asks, CAN YOU TEACH US JUST ONE KIND OF FUNNY?
Doodle says, TEACH US YOUR FAVOURITE KIND OF FUNNY.
Louie says, WE DO LOVE OUR PUNS!
Doodle says, HM?
Bud explains, A PUN IS MAKING A JOKE OUT OF A WORD THAT SOUNDS LIKE ANOTHER WORD.
Louie says, LIKE, WHAT DO COWS LOVE TO WATCH?
Doodle says, UM...
Louie and Bud say, MOO-VIES!
[Laughing, birds chirping]

Louie says, BEING FUNNY TAKES LOADS OF PRACTICE.
Doodle says, BUT I WANT TO BE FUNNY NOW!
[Odo gasping]
Odo says, I HAVE AN IDEA!
[Whooshing, birds singing]
At a table, Flo, Joe, and Shirley peck at the same bowl.
[Clucking, rustling, laughing, upbeat music plays, shouting]
Odo says, THE CHICKENS ARE SUPER-FUNNY! I'M SURE THEY COULD TEACH YOU A THING OR TWO.
Doodle says, YEAH!
[Clucking, clinking]
Doodle asks, SHIRLEY, CAN YOU SHOW ME HOW TO BE FUNNY?
Shirley asks, "FUNNY?" WHADYA MEAN?
Flo and Joe push each other away from the food bowl.
[Odo laughing, clucking, whooshing]
Odo says, DOODLE, MAYBE YOU SHOULD TRY EATING WITH THE CHICKENS.
Shirley says, JOE, FLO, DOODLE'S JOINING THE BRUNCH!
Doodle says, OH.
[Clucking]
Joe says, GO ON. DIG IN!
[Clucking, upbeat music plays]
Doodle says, THAT'S OKAY, I'LL WAIT FOR MY TURN.
[Chickens gasping]
The chickens say, YOUR...TURN?!
Shirley asks, HOW DOES THAT WORK?
Doodle replies, IT'S EASY. SHIRLEY, YOU TAKE A SEED FIRST.
Shirley quickly eats a seed.
[Whooshing, clinking]
Doodle says, THEN JOE.
Joe quickly eats a seed.
[Whooshing, clinking]
Doodle says, THEN FLO.
Flo quickly eats a seed.
[Whooshing, clinking, clucking]
Doodle says, AND NOW ME!
Doodle eats seeds.
[Clinking, gasping]
Shirley eats a seed.
[Whooshing]

[Whooshing]

Flo says, INCREDIBLE! WE SHOULDA DONE THIS "TURN" THING A LONG TIME AGO!
The chickens take turns eating.
[Clucking, clinking]
The chickens say, THANK YOU, DOODLE!
Odo says, WOW! I THINK YOU REALLY HELPED THEM.
[Clucking, clinking]
Doodle says, YEAH, BUT I WANTED THEM TO TEACH ME HOW TO BE FUNNY. NOT FOR ME TO TEACH THEM HOW TO BE LESS FUNNY.
Lightning flashes. Joe and Shirley hug, and Flo ducks her head under the table.
[Thunder booming, exclamations, gasping]
The Camp Leader steps out of her cabin. Rain falls.
[Rain pattering]
The Camp Leader says, OH...
In a megaphone, the Camp Leader says, ATTENTION, CAMPERS! THIS IS A STORM WARNING. PROCEED TO THE STORM SHELTER IN AN ORDERLY FASHION.
The campers stampede past the Camp Leader.
Campers shout, OH! WHOO!
The campers cram into a small storm shelter beneath a grassy hill. The Camp Leader stands in front of the opening, holding an umbrella.
[Panting, whimpering, rain pattering, gentle music plays]
The Camp Leader says, I'M GOING TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS WELL SECURED. YOU ALL STAY HERE AND REMEMBER, KEEP CALM AND COLLECTED.
A peacock says, A GOOD THING I DON'T FRIGHTEN EASILY.
[Thunder booming]
Campers shout, OH! AH!
Odo says, I HOPE THIS STORM ENDS SOON.
Doodle says, MY MOM TAUGHT ME A TRICK THAT MAKES STORMS LESS SCARY.
Odo says, REALLY? COULD YOU DO IT? UM, NOT THAT I'M SCARED!
Doodle says, SURE!
[Campers whimpering, gentle music continues]
Doodle says, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PRETEND THAT IT ISN'T A STORM.
[Thunder booming]
Campers say, OH...AH!
[Campers whimpering]
Two flamingos say, BUT IT IS A STORM!
Doodle says, NO. IT'S THE BIG GREY GOOGOO BIRD.
The campers say, HUH?
Doodle says, AND IT GOES LIKE THIS...
Doodle puffs out her feathers.
[Rustling]
Doodle says, I'M THE BIG GREY GOOGOO BIRD! GOO-GOO! AND NOW, I'M GOING TO MAKE IT RAIN!
[Doodle blowing raspberry, campers laughing]
Martin asks, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE THUNDER?
Doodle says, BOOM-BOOM! THAT'S NOT THUNDER. IT'S MY SNEEZES!
[Thunder booming]
The campers exclaim, HUH?
Doodle says, AH-CHOO!
[Campers laughing]
Martin says, THE STORM'S LESS SCARY WHEN I THINK ABOUT IT LIKE THAT!
[Martin blowing raspberry, rain pattering]
Martin and Doodle say, GOO-GOO!
[Laughing]
Martin shouts AH-CHOO!
[Cheering, blowing raspberries, laughing]
The Camp Leader returns and asks, WHAT'S ALL THIS?
[Doodle blowing raspberries]
Martin says, DOODLE SHOWED US A TRICK THAT MAKES STORMS LESS SCARY.
Thelma says, OH! IT'S REALLY FUNNY!
[Everyone laughing]
Doodle says, HUH?! WAIT. DO YOU REALLY THINK I'M FUNNY?
The campers say, YES!
[Laughing]
Doodle says, BUT I WAS JUST BEING SILLY.
Bud says, SILLY IS ONE OF THE BEST KINDS OF FUNNY!
Louie says, AND YOU'RE A NATURAL!
[Laughing]
Odo says, SEE?! YOU DO MAKE EVERYONE LAUGH.
[Laughing]
Someone says, DOODLE IS SO FUNNY!
The rain stops, and the Camp Leader closes her umbrella.
The Camp Leader says, HM...ALL CLEAR, EVERYONE!
The campers run out of the shelter. Odo, Doodle, and Martin stay with the Camp Leader.
The campers cheer, HOORAY! YAY! WHOO!
The Camp Leader puts her umbrella down.
[Rustling]
The Camp Leader says, OH, GOOD THING YOU WERE HERE, DOODLE! I'M NOT VERY GOOD AT JOKES, MYSELF. BUT THAT'S ALRIGHT, WE DON'T ALL HAVE TO BE FUNNY.
Martin walks into a deep puddle.
[Splashing]
Martin says, WHOOPS!
The Camp Leader says, THE IMPORTANT THING IS...
The Camp Leader lifts Martin from the puddle and puts him on the grass.
Martin cheers, WHEE...!
The Camp Leader continues, TO BE KIND. AND THAT'S SOMETHING ANYONE CAN DO.
Martin runs away.
[Martin laughing, birds chirping]
Doodle and Odo say, OH!
The Camp Leader says, NOW, WOULD YOU MIND DOING THE BIG GREY GOOGOO BIRD AGAIN? I DIDN'T GET TO SEE IT THE FIRST TIME.
Doodle says, SURE!
Doodle puffs up her feathers.
