[Upbeat music plays, slurping]
On a beach, One, Two, and Three relax on beach chairs with a round table by their feet. One and Two sit beneath an umbrella. Three sips her drink through a straw.
Three says, OH, BOTHER! I'VE FINISHED MY ICE WATER. BETTER GO AND GET SOME MORE.
One says, OOH! AND ME!
Two says, OH, ME TOO!
Three walks to a water cooler that has a water drop button and a snowflake button.
Three says, NO, NO, NO. IT WAS MY IDEA!
[Rustling, slide whistle]
One trips on a stone and lands on Two and Three.
Six says, NO NEED TO RUSH! HERE'S MY ADVICE - TO MAKE IT FAIR, JUST USE MY DICE.
[Popping]
Six holds up a die, also called a dice. She divides into Three, Two, and One.
Three says, THAT'S GOOD THINKING! WE'LL ROLL THE DICE TO CHOOSE WHO GOES.
Three rolls the dice and it lands on four.
One says, 4 SPOTS!
[Boinging, upbeat music notes play]
One jumps up.
One says, 4 GETS TO USE THE ICE MACHINE!
Three says, UM...
Two says, BUT 4 ISN'T HERE. LET'S ROLL AGAIN. HOLD ON. THERE'S A 5 ON HERE, TOO,
[Slide whistle]
Two turns the dice.
Two says, AND A 6. BUT THEY'RE NOT HERE EITHER!
Three says, WHAT WAS 6 THINKING?
[Thumping, boinging, whooshing]
One, Two, and Three combine into Six. Six leans forward and catches her dice. She spins it on her hand.
Six says, WHOOP! IT'S TRUE. THIS DICE GOES UP TO 6, BUT I THINK THERE'S AN EASY FIX. BEFORE YOU USE THE ICE MACHINE, BE SURE TO USE MY DICE MACHINE!
Six walks to a machine with six slots and a lever.
Six says, PUT YOUR NUMBERS IN THESE SPACES TO MAKE A DICE WITH 6 NEW FACES.
Six divides into Three, Two, and One.
Three says, OH, VERY CLEVER. RIGHT, LET'S SEE... YOU HAVE 1 RED BLOCK, SO LET'S HAVE 1 RED SPACE TO MAKE 1 RED FACE ON THE DICE.
[Dinging]
The number one appears in one slot. The number two appears in two slots.
Three says, AND 2 HAS 2 ORANGE BLOCKS, SO LET'S HAVE 2 ORANGE FACES, WHICH LEAVES... 3 SPACES FOR 3 YELLOW FACES FOR ME, ME, ME.
[Dinging]
The number three appears in three slots.
[Clicking, suspenseful music plays, rattling]
A new dice rolls out of the machine, and One picks it up.
One says, LET'S ROLL THE DICE AND SEE WHO GETS ICE!
[Boinging, upbeat music plays]
One rolls the dice, and it lands on three.
Three says, IT'S ME! YIPPEE! OH-HOO-HOO-HOO!
[Water splashing, slurping]
Three runs to the water cooler and fills her glass. One rolls the dice, and it lands on two.
Two cheers, YAY! COOL. HO-HOO-HOO!
[Water splashing, slurping, slide whistle]
Two fills the glass and drinks the water. They roll the dice, and it lands on two and three many times. One sits on the edge of her seat and watches the dice roll from one to three.
[Gasping, giggling]
One says, STOP! SOMETHING'S WRONG. YOU'VE BOTH HAD LOTS OF TURNS, AND I HAVEN'T HAD A SINGLE ONE!
Two says, MAYBE THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH THE DICE. LET'S GET A NEW ONE.
One says, HUP!
One runs to the dice machine and hangs off the lever.
[Straining, bell ringing, boinging, gasping]
One pulls the lever, and the dice bounce out of the machine. Two and Three run over and help push the lever back up.
Everyone says, PHEW.
[Gasping]
One, Two, and Three notice the dice all over the beach.
Three says, WHAT A MESS! WE'D BETTER TIDY ALL THESE DICE UP.
One says, I'LL PICK UP ALL THE DICE WITH THE 1 ON TOP.
Two says, I'LL DO THE TWOS!
Three says, LEAVING THE THREES TO ME. THAT SEEMS FAIR!
[Upbeat music plays]
One picks up three dice. Two picks up six dice.
[Three sighing, grumbling]
Three picks up nine dice.
Three says, HANG ON! I HAD TO PICK UP LOTS MORE DICE THAN YOU. THAT DOESN'T SEEM FAIR.
One says, YOU GOT TO USE THE ICE MACHINE LOTS MORE THAN WE DID, TOO. LET'S SEE. WE ASKED FOR A DICE WITH 1 LOT OF 1, 2 LOTS OF 2, AND 3 LOTS OF 3.
Three says, WAIT, WAIT, WAIT! YOU MEAN, EVERY TIME WE ROLL ONE OF THESE DICE, THERE ARE THREE WAYS TO ROLL A 3, BUT ONLY ONE WAY TO ROLL A 1.
Two says, NO WONDER YOU HAD TO TIDY UP THREE TIMES AS MANY DICE AS 1.
[Two chuckling]
One says, AND NO WONDER I DIDN'T GET A CHANCE TO USE THE ICE MACHINE! THIS DICE ISN'T FAIR AT ALL.
Three says, LET'S START AGAIN.
One says, EVERYONE TAKE 1 SPACE...
[Dinging]
On the dice machine, the numbers one, two, and three appear in the first three slots.
Two says, AND NOW, TAKE ANOTHER. 2 EACH!
[Dinging]

Three says, CAREFULLY...
[Whirring, bell ringing, happy musical notes play]
Three pulls the lever. One runs to the dice and picks it up.
One says, TWO ONES...
Two says, TWO TWOS...
Three says, AND TWO THREES. EVERYONE HAS THE SAME.
Two says, NOW, THAT'S FAIR. LET'S SEE WHOSE TURN IT IS TO USE THE ICE MACHINE NOW!
Three says, ME, ME, ME!
Three rolls the dice and it lands on three.
One says, OH!
[One sighing, banging, Three clearing her throat, cheerful music plays]
Three nudges the dice, and it rolls to one.
One cheers, A 1! THAT'S ME! IT'S MY TURN AT LAST!
[One giggling]
