Gracyn

Gracyn is an 11-year-old Métis girl from Duck Bay, Manitoba. Gracyn is a fabulous square dancer and designs and sews the costumes for her dance troupe. She likes to dance the boys' parts because she says that the boys' parts are more challenging and they dance harder. At the local community centre, her troupe puts on a show. She enjoys spending time with her father in the bush, helping to cut wood to heat their home in winter. At school, she plays badminton and is learning how to play the fiddle. She loves ,flour soup, a traditional Métis dish and she shows us how it's made. Gracyn also likes to hang out with her family and go ice fishing. Her special word is ,Mikom, which means ,ice, in Ojibwe.
