Anayah

Anayah is a 9-year-old girl who lives in Montreal, Quebec. She is part Mohawk and Trinidadian and loves exploring all aspects of her heritage. She and her grandmother make delicious roti - and they also sing traditional songs together with her dad! Music is very important to Anayah - she plays the steelpan drums and has other instruments in her room. Anayah also loves sports. Outside, she plays basketball with her sister Elouise and best friend Olivia, before taking us to the stables, where she shares with us her love of horses and tells us about her summer at horse camp. One day, Anayah hopes to motivate others to achieve their goals no matter the colour of their skin - and a special message from her role model inspires her to keep riding on to become one of the first professional Black Canadian equestrians!
