Raechel

Raechel is an 11-year-old who lives in Woodbridge, Ontario with her parents and brother Matthew. She celebrates her Guyanese heritage by playing Mas with her cousins - they love dancing together and dressing up! At the dance studio, Raechel tells us about the dance styles she practices - acro, hip hop and Afro-Caribbean - and how they make her feel like she's dancing on clouds. After, Raechel and her mom cook some okra, one of her favourite Guyanese dishes - yum! Raechel gives us a tour of her room and shows us the stories she wrote, her beautiful paintings and her award for academic excellence. One day, she'd like to be a lawyer. Raechel is inspired by women who have overcome barriers to make our world better - just like her role model, who gives her a few tips about how to reach her goals.
